I seen a analytic video on twitter regarding Irelands formations when they have the ball. Every phase, Everybody is playing their part in running lines and decoys in a purposeful manner. And when you have Sexton making the right decisions almost every time, Its no wonder Ireland were strolling up the field whenever they had the ball. It was amazing watching the players all in sync confuse the NZ defence. Its a stark difference to when NZ have the ball, They rely on their pace and skill to win the 1v1 matchup thus causing an overlap etc.

I mean, the real fans of rugby in NZ know that O'Mahony made Cane look like a schoolboy on saturday. It's this "not my fault" attitude from Foster and Cane that is the reason I didn't like either as captain/coach. Cane's lucky to even be in the squad on current form, and Fozzies been on the coattails of Hansen's successes and has achieved nothing of not at any level in coaching. The cards had much less effect on the game then AB's inability to change tactics, and the Irish team being much more disciplined and also a lot more physical and together. NZ fans are sore losers, and even worse winners when it comes to rugby, and I say that as a kiwi. We need a wakeup tbh.
@PB225592 жыл бұрын
NZ got smashed by England under Hansen in the WC, suffered a record defeat to Aus before that WC and ended up 3rd in the rugby championship. The cracks were already showing before Foster took over. There'd be very few NZ players selected for a world 23 team, aside from Ardie Savea.

Well said, although ABs have been on the ropes for a while. Loss at Ireland, very close to losing at Twickenham in 18 and some big losses down under. I think teams understand now that if you match them in defence and pin them back in their own half, they are disarmed. Prevent them from having ball on the midfield and the ABs are cooked. I miss Reid and Sonny Bill, seems like there is 0 leadership and nobody wants to take responsibility. I can’t see them getting to the Semis next year.

I was thinking we (Ireland) have a chance of winning this series, and then I remember it's Wayne Barnes refereeing the game. If teams had the options to block certain referees from reffing their game, Wayne Barnes, I'm fairly sure, would be first on that list for 90%+ Irish fans. Guess the positive way to look at it from an Irish point of view is that Andy Farrell came down to NZ for a tough challenging tour, with Wayne Barnes refereeing the game it definitely ups the challenge for us.

@Hamish Banish what would be the incentive for refs / officials taking part in this conspiracy you speak of to go easy on the All Blacks? Money / audiences in Rugby are in Europe and Uk. Cane was knocked into Henshaw by another player. It was completely accidental, shouldn’t have even been penalised. The judiciary found he had done NOTHING wrong. I think Buck summed up last weeks performance pretty accurately in a recent interview and that is under Foster the ABs simply haven't evolved. Which means for the better part of 3 years we've been stagnant whilst the rest of the top tier has been advancing. Last year's performance was average and we've started 2022 less than average. Canes been missing from the field for half his captaincy due to injuries so why has Foster persisted? He's not the best in his position and far from best in the world and to win consistently you need players in key roles within the team to be classed as best in there position. We had it for years we don't currently. But hey what do I know, I couldn't do what any of them do in a month of Sundays! 😀 One thing for sure, whilst we as passionate supporters are upset, I can only guess that multiplier is times a 100 for those in the squad. All credit to the NH teams that put the SH teams to the sword last weekend. Sets this weekend up as a belter!!! Go the mighty All Blacks!!
@garypatterson95932 жыл бұрын
@Andy Butler pretty sure I highlighted your point. 2015 is 7 years ago, you can't keep diving back into history. I think that's the point Buck is making the ABs haven't evolved under Foster. Fozzie and a couple of other guys are responsible for selecting the best players playing in the right positions, I would strongly challenge we don't have the best players playing in the right position, sounds awfully familiar. The mismanagement of card/sub laws last week was poor, who owns that cock up? The Irish sideline assistant coach knew it as that's how we got pulled up and arguably our best player had to sit out the game. Unfortunately the buck stops at the top whether in sport or business that's what they get paid to do. Our boys had a shocker and they know it, but Ireland played a great game. As always we'll bounce back. Enjoy the game.

Even if I might think that Ian Foster is not the best guy for the job.I can't even coach a primary school team so it's best I keep my opinions to myself because I might think I know a lot but truth is I don't. I might think Sam is not the best captain but it's best I keep shut cause I wasn't even the captain of my high school rugby team. I might think that this is a weak AB side but it's best I shut up because I am light years away from knowing what it takes to become one. It's best I stay behind the TV screen shut my mouth watch the game, keep supporting them and just watch them get better in all areas. Or if I think they are crap.....easyJust don't watch them play anymore.But I enjoy seeing the fight they put up even if things aren't going well so I'll keep watching.

A red card for 2 guys colliding in a tackle without any malice is unbelivable (yellow at most) and that combined with a yellow card for a player not being able to change direction in mid air whilst charging down a ball is indefensible. This game is being ruined by card mania which ruins games for both spectators and players. Had those 2 unbelievable cards not been given the AB's wouldn't have been under anywhere near the same pressure and would have been able to execute their game plan. Even so they very nearly won in the last 10 min so not a huge loss. All the AB's have to do next week is keep it very tight for the first half and unleash hell in the second. Ireland are devoloping into an incredible team due to a large part by kiwi involvement however the AB's on the day without red cards will 99% of the time beat any team anytime. Have faith..... Note for Ian...... Beauden is no good at 10...... every team in the world knows what he is going to do....... keep to Mo'unga

I'll admit as an Irishman we have our fair share of one eyed fans. I don't want to tar all Kiwi supporters with the one brush, but this is a prime example of some of your one eyed fans. You got off lightly with those cards, that first yellow easily could have been a red, and there could have easily been a penalty try. Saying that, I hate when a player gets sent off, it ruins the contest, so hope it stays 15-15 on Saturday. And personally I'd prefer the Super rugby system of 20 minutes off before getting replaced by another player. Maybe could lengthen players bans when they get carded to further incentivize safer play, while maintaining the game as a contest.

It will down to your own shortcomings: “ when we are sick in fortune, often the surfeit of our own behaviour, we make guilty of our disasters the sun, the moon, and the stars ” [William Shakespeare, King Lear (1623)]- and blame an English ref!

This is what happens when you place the cart before the horse, sam cane was named captain' long before he even took the field years ago, a pretty ignorant idea to say the least, overall hes not a bad player, but has never learned not to get hurt, tackle technique also is awful at times. Also he isn't a captain really. just because a kid is mature and maybe a good player doesn't make a captain at all, McCaw wasnt a captain either(he improved over the years), he was forced into that, fitzpatrick, zinzan, real leaders are natural captains that can speak also as well as their own actions on the field.

Most might not agree but I think the red card was correct The duty of care is on the tackler Remember ring rose is out for this game So by that analogy you could send lugs out to take out the opposition best players and take a chance on them not injuring themselves Yes it was tough on the ab player and it does skew matches afterwards but the law was brought in to cut out head high tackles and cheap shot of elbow or shoulder charges Hench angle change and arm wrap around and stuff It is all so defensive players don’t go for the head high option not matter what if if that means not tackling the offensive player Basically if the head high tackle is your only option then you have no option. This is about the long term effect on player mental health. This is from someone that has been concussed 7+ times in my playing days. I played on and certainly have togged out a few days later too. If a player lines up an offensive player for a tackle then it simply cannot be head high or anywhere near it otherwise you cannot take that option If the offensive player changes course or suddenly dips down and the defensive player doesn’t have time to react then that is different and should only be a yellow card at most. Similar situation took place in the 6 nation Ireland England match Ireland played most of the match 15v14 after crazy tackle on Irish player who had to off and be replaced and missed the next game due to being concussed and injured by one of these so called unintentional tackles. Again Simple You just can’t take a chance on one of these tackles if there is a chance that it might concuss an opposite player. That s the crime and it deserves a red but for the punishment and how it affects a match I think there should be a 20 min red card for these situations and then the team can return to 15 using a substitute player. BTW Worst AB display I have ever seen and I don’t think Ireland were even at their best. All sports share something and that it if you score first it forces the other team to come out to play more and stretch themselves a bit and this makes them prone to making mistakes and then this odds further pressure and then it can unravel and we are not used to seeing NZ teams play like this. Ireland have a good first 15 and we now can worry anyone on our day but having a squad of enough quality to do it for 4-5 weeks in a row is where we get caught in World Cups so I still think we are a good bit off that level yet. Our major problem is that we have only 4 professional teams and because our players are centrally contracted means it is very hard to blood new players and keep the current ones on their toes. At ten sexton still the boss Carbery very good but has had rotten luck with injury The chasing pack then don’t get enough top level game time to hone their stills. Not bad though for a country where rugby is our 4th sport. All our best savages are playing GAA and if we tap this market ( think John Hayes, Taghe Furlong and Sean OBrien) big strong farmers then the world including SA would better watch out. There are over 2500 GAA clubs in Ireland and roughly 200 rugby clubs That tells its own story. Looking forward to the 3rd test Think NZ will squeeze thru tho Wayne Barney’s has proved to be not a friend of Ireland If NZ have all their best players Whitelock Savea etc think they will have enough to get thru. I have been supporting Ireland since the early 80s and thru the bad days of the 90s the last 20 years have been a dream

Well said Will! Only 4 professional teams.. No wonder we play with structure the way we do.. Box way above our weight on the world stage by playing intelligent rugby.. And when an Irish team is playing well these days they are a joy to watch. Continually breaking the gain line in such defensively minded setups these days is great to see too. And I don't agree with comments that we don't allow individuality either.
