I was really looking forward to seeing McCarthy, but Darnold played well. Brady was right by saying the injury was terrible, but the best thing for a young QB is to sit for a year and he will be better because of it.

Clearly a qb sitting his rookie year works well, just look at the Packers with Rodgers and now Love, and the Chiefs with Mahomes. Also, JJ is only 21 so he could still have a 15 to 20 year career.

After what he did with the passtronaut last year, if O'Connell can actually turn the Sam Darnold reclamation project into a success story, he truly will be the QB-whisperer. The Vikings might just start sucking up rookie or failed QB prospects for cheap just to trade them to other teams for assets after studying under O'Connell for a season.
@taodelfino7734Ай бұрын
Can't wait to see him against the Niners defense that was rolling in week 1. A solid performance against them, could be the first step to Darnold turning a corner this season.

At about 20:58 isn’t number 3 allowed to make that contact because it’s within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage? Very smart play if that’s the case. I know you said it’s a pick so it should be flagged but i don’t see how defense is allowed to jam within 5 yards and offense can’t?

That's the case for most struggling QB's. Not all, but most. Fans are so quick to just keep recycling a new QB because it's flashy and fun. Then you see that one fail too. New QB, same as the old QB. FO is pressured to win quick, and blaming/changing the QB provides another year of job security to change things around. Guys like Carr, Baker, Darnold, and Geno are all recent examples of QB's that were mocked and considered "trash" only to find a competent team to find success. Meanwhile the teams these guys left are still struggling, not putting their QB in a position to succeed.

Darnold could profit from letting the ball go just a whisker sooner to both Jets and Adds. Both broke stride to wait for his ball to arrive. Still good passes, but plenty of room to improve.
