We need to acknowledge how great of a play caller KOC is. Tbh most guys from the McVay tree are. But KOC is a special offensive mind. His offense combined with Brian Flores' defense makes things REALLY interesting in Minnesota. Don't be surprised to see a Cinderella year from them. Darnold just has to play relatively low-mistake football and score 17-21 points, and they'll be a competitive team. Their offensive line is really good, they have JJ, Addison, Aaron Jones, Hockenson when he comes back and a great defense being directed by top notch coaching. Detroit has company in the North.

@@ahastar1141 I know. It pisses me off that so many Vikes can't see his upside and expect him to be perfect. It's only his 3rd season. Dealing with stunts was one of his major weaknesses. He mucked up one pre-season when he was playing with Quessenberry - but he was perfect on that one with ONeill. He pushed Maliek Collins off balance so that O Neill was already on top on that, and absolutely destroyed Floyd. That should be on this week's highlight reel.

@@robe2504 the issue is you have dalton risner who is a good pass blocker but avg run blocker, and Ingram who is pretty legit run blocker but still developing his pass game. It also doesn’t help that Bradbury isn’t super great and I think that puts more pressure on our guards
@robe2504Ай бұрын
@@ahastar1141 Ingram is only 25 and has upside, whereas Risner is 29 and is what he is. I think Risner is a grade A back up. I love having him there to fill in for a game or two for an injury, especially when you look around the league - Hutchinson just beat back up Justin Skule to sack Baker 4.5 times!!! Ingram has started slowly his previous two seasons, and his first two seasons, with all their flaws have already matched the best Risner has ever produced. I just watched an analysis of some of the Vikes best plays on the weekend - the 97 yd TD - Ingram stonewalls NT Maliek Collins in the end zone. The 20 yard crosser to Nailor - Ingram smashes Collins then helps BO with Floyd, JJ 1st down in the seam - Ingram stonewalls Collins again, Darnold's 19 yard scamper up the middle - Ingram hands off Collins to BO then flattens Floyd, Nailor's TD - Ingram holds Elliot long enough for Sam to make the throw and same on Nailor's 30 yard catch down the seam in the 4th. I'd bet his coaches are watching all this, while most fans are just watching Jefferson and Nailor make the catches and Sam run. If a market was open I'd be betting whatever I could that Risner will never start over a healthy Ingram. Skol!

I think Sam's good, and he's in a good place to get better. MN was the best landing spot he could hope for, and I truly wish him well. He has talent. That said, I also think he is a bit like a slightly out of focus photo; good, but just not right. His receiving core is among the top 5 (easy) in the league, so that helps, but I think over the season with good coaching Sam will have developed significantly, and maybe start to deliver on the potential that had him a number 3 (?) pick.

Slingin' Sam Darnold is turning into Savvy Sam. This is top-ten play, trending upward. Next step up is to hit those receivers more in stride, so they can make a move for more yards after the catch. Right now he's putting it back-shoulder, making them whirl around, spending a couple extra steps with the catch and recovering their balance. By then, the DBs are on top of them. Only the very best QBs put the ball in stride consistently. Can Darnold rise to that level? Great to see Darnold targeting Jaylen Nailor, who already is having a huge breakout season.
