I have fallen head over heels in love with Jamie Fraser. Sam Heughan has brought to wonderful vivid reality the character so beautifully created by Diana Gabaldon. Nobody could have done a better job of bringing Jamie to life than Sam. And nobody has, to date, created such a charming characters as Jamie and Claire. I absolutely adore the TV series and the books. They will always hold a special place in my heart and dreams.

Sam, you have got to be one of the most , if not the most transitional people in acting that I’ve seen in a very long time. You brought such a difference in your own personality and Jamie’s, all the way down to voice, eye focus and mouth and all your facial expressions as well as your body movements. You just put it all in with everything you’ve got. I just love your character and no woman could refuse your approach to them in any way shape or form, and if they say otherwise, they have to be lying. Love you to pieces,

Not only do I love this show and everyone in it, I also learned to love Scotland and all the Scottish people. Such a wonderful portrayal of the hardships that Scotland and it's people have had to bare. My heart goes out to them. The characters and the writers have really brought their story to life. Love to Scotland for everything you have had to endure. Such beautiful, funny and friendly people that love their whiskey, but also love each other, respect and honor each other.

As a Scottish/American, Millions of Scottish/Americans have traced our heritage back to many of these battles in Scotland. My own forefather was traced to the Battle of Dunbar, Sept 3, 1652. He was a Scottish War Prisoner that was sold as an Indentured Servant to the Colonies. Almost 100 years before Outlander. What the Outlander has done for us Scottish/Americans, it has filled a huge hole that is in our Souls and Hearts. There are approx. 30-35 Million Americans that are of Scottish Heritage. We are very, very proud of our Scottish Heritage. America was built by Scotsmen. the first 31 of the 43 American Presidents were of Scottish Heritage and/or Direct Scottish Immigrants. Half of the signatures on the United States of America's Declaration of Independence are of Men with Scottish Heritage and/or Direct Scottish Immigrants. Scotland IS the Motherland of America, and we NEVER forgot where we came from. Scotland cries out to us, to this very day.

Learning that my DIRECT Scottish relatives were ethnically cleansed out saddens me but cousin to cousin, I will tell you not to get too carried away with Scotland being the originator of America seeing as how it was no problem ethnically cleansing the Native people here and the horror story of your obvious selective memory of slavery that endures today. Those signers of that Constituion had slaves and made plenty of babies witth them including George Washington who tried and tried to convince Oney Judge to return to slavery unsuccessfully. I enjoy the show but realize there are plenty of folk walking around with direct Scottish and Irish bloodlines too!

@@mdeborah827 yeah A LOT of countries had their hand in terrorising america in the early days. Remember the english were there before the Scots, and the english just carried on with their day to day brutalizing, beating, and killing of anything they came in contact with. So bottom line, I guess we all learnedfrom the best, huh?

Rob, what I've loved about watching you interview someone, over the years, is that you have clear, concise questions to ask. And then you let the interview subject ANSWER! And who better to interview than Sam Heughan?! He has become such a fine, fine actor, and the fact that he and Caitriona became producers this year has, and will, make ALL the difference in OUTLANDER going forward. As Sam mentioned, with the loss of so many other key people from Seasons 1 & 2, they ARE essential voices, clearly. Thanks, Rob, and Sam!

I thought the same thing. Wondered if they tie of the character by the end puf their series and are more than ready to move on to other endeavors. Sam has several other things aleady to kelp him busy, his foundation, his charity, his on line motivational program, to keep moving, clean eating,etc. And his whisky line Sassanach Spurits, and other movies. He's one busy dude. Good for him, he doesn't need the corrupt Hollywood pedo machine to sustain himself!

I have to thank Diana G.for her creation of this couple of Jamie and Claire. The romance is what we all yearn for in our own lives. Claire is holding on to the idea of Jamie being part of her. They are 2 people who have indeed become one. Being female she knows the torment that Jamie saw at Wentworth. All females have an intimate knowledge of what sexual abuse is. Now Jamie knows and he can really enter into Claire's psyche and become part of her. This is a very enjoyable interview. The host is knowledgeable and polite. Sam is gorgeous and a total delight to watch and listen to. He is extremely intelligent and expressive.

It’s Admiration I feel for him (That is his Ability to hold a Captive Audience) Caitriona has the same Quality, they both have it in Spades! One question I'd like someone to ask Sam is; how has the character of Jamie transcended into his own life? He's portrayed as the "king of men" has he taken any cues from the character and infused them into Sam? Has it changed how he interacts with the women in his real life? I think Diana hit the nail on the head with this character, I think we would all like to feel that special to the men in our lives and have our men be strong and vulnerable at the same time.

Judie, it is a romantic book, a really good show on TV. They are actors but humans as well, like you and me 😉. People look for the perfect man or the perfect woman, we forgot to live life and our "journey" that life can be... Perfection exits where we can see, it is our own "eyes". Live life as it is. You will see that each person on our life brings a special meaning, just protect your self from sad and people that hurt you, they can broke us. All lives have a journey. Enjoy yourself, take care of you and the people you love, then you'll be able to find "you're perfection". 🙏🤗😊

I’m ok with not knowing the answer to your question. The reason is that all too often when we see an actor portray an evil character it’s hard to get my head around it and they often come to bad ends. So, i like to imagine that since Sam is already proved to all of us that he is a genuinely cool guy, he might just have absorbed some of the character Jamie.

I agree because he's far more mature and serious in seasons 4 and 5. The end of season 5 broke my heart because Claire had been abducted and raped beaten and it was beautiful to see her and Jamie laying in bed together. He asked her how she felt now, & Claire replied, " I feel safe!". That was the most beautiful bonding marital moment I've seen between two people in a movie in my entire life.❤ Jamie knew what it's like because he went through that with Captain Randall in prison but this wasn't the first time and it happened to Claire.. she was raped before right after they got married in the meadow,,and she stab the guy in the back. it wasn't a horrible or double rape and he didn't beat her but it didn't last very long so it didn't have the emotional and psychological plus physical turmoil on her like the last one did. I'm just left wondering about season 6 and wondering if the family of the man that raped and beat Claire will come back to burn down homes or take out anger on Jamie and Claire for killing the older wicked brother. The smarter brother told Jamie that his brother had always acted irresponsibly and that he had essentially repeat what he sowed.. I'm just hoping in the next season that the actual friendship between Claire and Jamie with the other family can grow deeper.

I feel the same way. Sam is not Jamie, which is amazing given that so many “stars” basically play themselves in different plot lines. Sam is not playing himself. Sam is a modern guy of today’s world. He fully embodies the character of Jamie, a warrior from 250 years ago, and that is true talent. He never plays a false note as Jamie. As different as they are, no one but Sam could ever play Jamie. Sam Heughan. What an amazing actor! Not taking anything away from Catriona who was superb in her part in this series. However, had any of the contemporary male actors been chosen to play Jamie I for one, wouldn't be watching the series more than once. Sam has incredibly expressive eyes. It's said that the eyes are a reflection of a person's soul. Well, in his character as Jamie, so complex and varied he has effortlessly managed to project every emotion that's asked or expected of him. Pure magic!. There have been many unforgettable love stories on the big and small screen throughout the years. I cannot think of a single one where the male actor looks at his female counterpart with so much (truly believable) emotion. I hope he will have much good quality acting offers in the future. He deserves it to make up for the "twenty lost years" of exposure or fame. Perhaps the lack of good past opportunities prepared him for his outstanding portrayal of Jamie Fraser. Not having been recognized in the past for his obvious talent could have made him more hungry and humble to give his whole heart and energy to this production. It's been UNBELIEVABLE that he has to date not received EVERY award possible for his acting in this production! How is it that he has been interviewed hundreds of times for his part in Outlander, praised by the media in many countries, followed by thousands of fans and, the ones who decide who deserve an award in the field of acting have been blind to what's just so obvious?. Diana Gabaldon's imagination and creativity are just wonderful. As many of the fans of this show have stated, there's no obvious choice of a male in the current pool of actors, either American or European that could have played the role of Jamie Fraser to the extent of classy acting as Sam Heughan has managed to capture and deliver. I'm confident that, as a person, he will continue to be as approachable, genuine, warm, unaffected and charming as he has been so far. I wish him a wonderful future!

Please, don't forget the character, Jamie Fraser, was created by a woman and with a woman's sensibility of the "perfect", emotionally stable, mature, sensitive man. As well as all the "sensitive man" stuff written for this character he has just the right amount of savage warrior as well. Men just aren't men if you take that out of them. They are there to protect and physically help their women and children. They aren't any good to us if they're crying in the corner when danger comes. Diana wrote the brute well just as she wrote the lover well. Not too much of either.

One gets the feeling that the last episode ( Season 5) It was very thought through in fine detail because it is so incredibly moving on so many levels. "It really works" is understatement. The 60s "escape fantasy' pulled me into her head in a way I've never felt "connected" in a rape scene ; it made the "ordeal" all the more "real" . This episode was merely great entertainment, but BRILLIANT art. Kudos to the whole writing/ producing team and to actors/producers Sam and Caitriona - amazing season. Death of Murtagh-- another brilliant episode and I was so moved for days - like in "mourning" for both Murtagh and Jamie for the enormous loss.

Yessss, I adored season 5, and it did feel special! Seasons 1 and 5 are definitely my faves and the most re-watchable. Season 1 because of the slow burn, little moments, and the political intrigue and tensions in the castle which make for great drama. Season 5 because Claire and Jamie finally build a home together and are, basically, laird and lady, and they protect and take care of their family and tenants as well as each other--and, as usual, it's at a cost that really pushes and challenges the characters. Sam and Cait made some great contributions, it sounds like! Can't wait for season 6.

Well done! Good questions, nice points of views and it was excellent your interactions regarding Outlander history. Being a viewer of Outlander show, (still at season 1, 12 episode) , it is so good to know about the show. Regarding the scripts creativity for this last seasons it is really good to see both actors grow to a role production and decisions makers of the show. Thank you so much for this "eye opener", really interesting and kind interview. Both of you gave us one excellent interview guys😁. It is never late to follow your work at Outlander show. 🙏💖 Obrigada

Much of America's settlement history belongs to the Scotts who migrated to help settle America. I know my families roots on my maternal great grandfather's side, genealogy is rooted/traced to Scotland back to the 1200's. (Boyd, Boid, Boit, Bute) So my relatives fought along side the Mckinzies and Fraser's against the corrupt British. Of course they also migrated to America and helped settle the colonies. Very interesting parallels to many Americans family histories in this series.

Maybe you could take the cast and create your own form of James bond when it comes to an end. You all seem like a family just make wish list of the places you all would want to visit together. Have the story unfold from there.

I have just one curious question throughout this series. Why isn't Jamie a little more curious about the upcoming American Revolution? Why hasn't Claire or Brianna explained more of what is to come? If anyone has watched that AMC series "Turn", I envision Jamie becoming a rebel spy during the American Revolution (a la Robert Rogers-like character).
@nelvea787
@nelvea787 4 жыл бұрын
Actually, Claire doesn't know much about it because she wasn't a historian in her own time and when she went back to find Jamie she thought they would live in Scotland. She nevet thought they would end up in the Colonies. As for Bree, she studied history and she knows more about the American Revolution and I am sure she will use that knowledge to keep her father safe in the next season. Roger also knows a few things which will be useful.
