My take on schools is this: we need to take the safety and security of schools just as seriously as courthouses and prisons. The fact we don't, takes prioroty over any other discussion. Why would a teacher be in the position of needing to carry a gun, if it wasn't far too easy to cause maximum devastation with little effort, in a school. The people saying 'it's far too easy to get a gun' seem to conveniently forget how easy it is to go to school. Jimmy wakes up bright and early, packs his lunch and his AR15, walks into the building just a few minutes after bells ring, and the only time that doesn't end in people dying, is when there is sufficient deterrent.
@peepeepoopoo420695 ай бұрын
@@boburanus69 I agree that we should secure our children at least as much as we do our fiat currency, but I'm not so sure we should keep our courthouses as secure as we do. Home school them kids unless you want them to learn how to become obedient slaves to the system.

Funny enough I just had to do a paper and presentation on this. Trump said it would cost 8 bill before it was actually set up, the DHS said I believe around 22 bil, around the time construction was halted, and MIT estimated a total 40 bil for completion. Thing is, we already built a wall with Secure Fence 2006 back in 2008, that already cost 50 bil at the time. Trump’s wall is significantly cheaper and yet it’s way harder to get up. That said, around like 60% of the money to Ukraine is spent on the American military to replace the old and expired stuff we give to Ukraine so while they are getting some free shit, we’re also preparing ourselves for China.

Look man, on the topic of armed teachers I've been out of high-school for going on 6 years so I can still remember a lot of the teachers I had and how they acted very well. I have seen MULTIPLE adults come into a class, have full blown mental breakdowns over a slightly noisy or inattentive environment, or baggage they brought from home to their job and sit there crying in a corner or down in the staff room for the rest of class while the principal would search for someone to fill in (both "men" and women did this). These aren't people who are screened for mental health or capability to deal with the stress of a firefight in the same way the police or military are vetted through training/selections. Matter of fact these aren't people who have to meet many requirements at all to get their job outside of a post-secondary course being completed where I live, and the general consensus around here is that most teachers went wrong somewhere in life to land that job. I'd sooner take my chance with the potential shooter than have emotionally unstable and armed school teachers brandishing the heat around me daily.

As for the arming teachers debate. I dont think it should be mandatory for them to carry, but the laws need to get out of the way of those who already do carry and allow them to do so at school. Maybe make firearm familiarization an option so they know how to safely handle one and know marksman basics. Give them some incentive like PTO if they are going to attend a course or get paid training. There's so many options but doing nothing is the worse one.

For teachers being armed. I can't imagine the toll of being an underpaid, under appreciated educator in this current era of teaching, and adding on top of it being armed with a gun and having to also potentially put your life on the line in that situation. My spouse is a current a educator and I would not want her to have the responsibility on top of the already stressful environment of being a teacher. Most schools in my area have SROs and respond to calls at the schools quickly. I know not all cities have that luxury so that is a city by city basis. And on that note, going into an active shooter situation is chaotic and unpredictable. More than likely you have little info on who the shooter is and how many there are. Put into place a bunch of armed teachers into that chaos and as law enforcement responding, now you have a bunch of people with guns that you have to detain and secure because you have no idea who the shooter is and isnt in thay kind of environment. That's my opinion, with a wife as an educator and current LEO in a large Midwest city with a ton of crime.

Should be worth noting: The US has not actually sent much money to ukraine, the vast majority of the "money" in these aid packages is actually in the form of old (and some new) military equipment. This also benefits the US economy in the long run, since these weapons can then prove themselves against a near-peer enemy, which then makes other countries around the world want to buy them (such as HIMARS and PATRIOTS having proven to be incredibly effective, which means countries such as Poland will order them).
