Trying to figure out what is a good use of time is hard for a lot of people. It’s obvious to me and many others which passions to pursue, but people who don’t have this clarity of mind or don’t have such obvious passions might understandably have trouble achieving “higher” things. My brother, for example, has expressed that he would like to do something creative but he just doesn’t feel like a creative person. A lot of people who sit in their own filth and play games and watch TikTok all day probably do it because they don’t want to do anything else - whether they lack ambition inherently or not is a very deep question, but I think that probably some people are meant to be cogs in the machine. For those people, I say, since they have nothing to work towards, go and waste your life if you want to. Go party and skydive if you don’t want to be a famous writer or musician or actor or anything - it’s better to do degenerate garbage than waste your life on something boring.

Understand what is happening every day and being fully involved in them. You don’t need to waste time reading the stoics, there is much better reading material out there. It’s not the worst you could do but it is still a blind alley. Regardless, if you don’t understand or agree with the larger point he’s making about public opinion being poisoned toward white historical figures then you yourself are either willfully ignorant or, much more likely, deceitful.
