Non metallic metals can be an illusive subject, in this video I'm laying out the concept in beginners terms. It can be a tricky topic but with dedication and the willingness to step out of your comfort zone, all things are possible. Enjoy!

Solid short vid, and again nice tips. I like the idea of adding other colors that might be bouncing around in the environment off the object. I use this technique in the post editing process on photos I shoot be it a composites of multiple images or a portrait, it’s cool to hear about this in other creative mediums. 💪

I instantly became a fan of your work when you showed up on TTM doing those Sepulchral Guard tutorials. I wasn't painting those minis, but your style of painting and how you talk about what you are doing helped me, especially the OSL and wet blending lessons in that series. I only stumbled across your own channel recently but its so cool to see these small digestable videos from you. They are great reference material.

What amazing brush control -- it's quite humbling to see you make this look *hot* in the blink of an eye with such a "boring" color palette! Generally I am a fan of TMM but this video makes me want to experiment with this technique much more. Thank you!

I'm still blown away by these videos :'D Makes you want to paint :D It is complicated now due to organization of my wedding / work / etc but hopefully from the beginning of the next year I'll be able to follow along with these awesome videos :D By the way if you have time I'd really want to see some complex NMM maybe something like a reflective NMM Necron Cryptek with OSL :D I haven't a clue how to handle the different light sources in this case, but it would probably make a pretty intense and cool vid :D

You're welcome, Joshua! I'm glad you have the right mindset on this. There is no shame in failure, only in quitting. I've been painting for year and years and then more years before I made any videos. I can share a lesson but time in the saddle is the most important part of this practice.

Sam, this is an amazing demonstration of a TRIPLE wet blend! I hope you do more videos showing this technique. I'm an avid wet blender but usually use only two colors which works most of the time but sometimes looks a bit bland when I just use the highlight and shade color.
@SamLenzArtwork
@SamLenzArtwork 2 жыл бұрын
It's like a double rainbow B) Really you're only working with a single boundary at a time so if you're careful, it's possible to do even a quadruple wet blend. Think of the power!

Been really enjoying the vids, so thanks for them. NMM been trying this with Indomitus, getting there, the whole highlight down rather then up still gets me at times. Just seen the Void Dragon you did for GWS, really liked the free hand, worked well to bring the space back into the solid form of the model. Any chance you recorded this, and if so any chance it will be posted?

I struggle with the colored light reflections. If the light from the sky is blue and the ground is green. Would the colors be on the opposite sides of the blade as the light moved across it? not sure if this question make too much sense.

1:50. Is that a small drop of thinner and a small drop of retarder above the paint or is it two drops of retarder? I would judge it to be Vallejo Dry retarder as it looks quite thick but I can't tell. Could you tell, Sam?
