Sam is as reliable as a pack mule. For 13 years this guy has done anything and everything required. He interned, he's worked mornings, evenings, and night slots. He did an aftershow, he did an old-fashioned disc jockey type thing on the modern pop hits channel, and he's done his current hosting gig. He brought his wife and family in to try and make good radio. Also, he made squat money for the vast majority of that time.

He brought a lot of good stuff to the old O&A show - Jocktober probably would not have been what it was without Sam’s understanding of what would be the best fodder for the boys. Sam kept interrupting Jim to say dumb stuff like "Well, listen.. he's a good broadcaster and.." and Jim would interrupt him in return and say he's sick of praising Opie for no reason. I've always liked Sam, and never understood the abundance of hate there is for him. Yeah, he's a weird looking oddball with an on-air 'asshole' persona - but do people really not see how much material that 'asshole' persona brought to the O&A show? I'd wager half of the most popular O&A clips on KZbin wouldn't exist without Sam. And his deliberately obvious sarcasm is fucking great. I'm convinced at this point that part of the reason he gets so much hate is so many people actually don't get that his sarcasm is _meant_ to be obvious. As an early "O&A" fan, to me I feel like I am way to old for Sam Roberts. I can't stand him. He is probably good for my sons generation but to me he is everything I hate. I have tried many times to listen to his show and I just don't get it. Sorry Jim I am out. I will miss you but I will not listen to you on this new show. I will listen to the opie repeat and Anthony in the AM.
