As an Aussie, I am so glad this classic is getting some international attention. John Farnham has a powerful voice and Sam does not disappoint with this It would be a great one to release for Ukraine as the lyrics are very powerful. @@TinaTissue28 I have heard it since I was a lot younger but like you said it is not until you sit down and listen to it properly then you understand how powerful it is. I hope Dianne and Craig are OK after hearing our Aussie anthem butchered 😖🙉 Sam's voice is so nasal and lacks power, and along with the accompanying dance, this entire performance lacked true depth and soul. Nothing compares to the original - John Farnham's You're The Voice music video and him singing it live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
@mariewallis94902 жыл бұрын
It’s always someone without talent who likes to criticise everyone else behind their keyboard.
@BonnyT2 жыл бұрын
@@mariewallis9490 I never claimed to have talent myself and just because one isn't a star doesn't make them unentitled to be an audience member and give reviews. I'm the first person to admit that I can't sing to save myself (but I can hear and be moved to tears/joy by music). I was also a very good ballroom and Latin dancer in my younger days. I can confidently say that the dance (although technically good) didn't connect emotionally with the song. You're The Voice is a soul-stirring song about social justice and requires a powerful voice and dance with earth, grit and fight - not a nasal voice or polite and dainty movement.
@elliottandrews30272 жыл бұрын
@@BonnyT I say as an Australian he is a more than capable vocalist. That was the arrangement because it’s not a one-man concert. The melody and instrumental builds Sam uses softer head voice for the first “how long” (which John Farnham doesn’t), chest for the second then head for the last. It’s all matched by the backing singers. The Strictly interpretations of songs is different because there is a ballroom dance (whether you liked that or not is different).
@BonnyT2 жыл бұрын
@@elliottandrews3027As a fellow Australian, I stand by my opinion that this performance (whilst not technically lacking) was disconnected from the song's meaning and feeling. To me it seemed like Stepford Wives-like dancers were trying to perform angelic wholesome with no understanding that this song is about trauma and overcoming by standing up against injustice. It was just the wrong dance, costumes, staging, and singer for this particularly deep song.
