Oh I absolutely love it. Let me share, yes I have more income than I did 10 years ago and am blessed and grateful. However I’m still in the poverty level and sending a daughter through college. But oh my! I ate SO much better when I used to dumpster dive! Oh the fresh fruits and vegetables they threw out!! I can’t anymore because it’s illegal here. I remember the 80’s, store managers used to leave the food in boxes on the dock for my grandparents to pick up. But the world has changed. I now buy what you see me get (for 4 households ) They can afford less than me. I believe that’s why I’m blessed because I buy to share. and I get food bank food from my friends if there’s something they don’t want. I understand the fixed income thing when your income goes up $20 but medical goes up $35 and food keeps going up. . . I applaud you SO much for making it work. Some people crawl into a hole and complain. Not you - you make stuff happen. Thank you for “clicking “ and making me part of your family 😁

My back's hurting just watching you two. I'm in a super small town w/limited goods for beast or mortal daily. I'm disabled & have been purchasing my dogs' kibble from Chewy almost 6yrs. now. I know they deliver via FEDEX in the lower 48. My dogs are allergic to life so their food is what I call Escalade-priced. A couple wks. ago I bought 3, 25lb. bags at 50% off plus my auto-ship discount & saved almost $200. My dogs will be happily fed for many months to follow. New customers also receive a nice intro discount....call them & also watch for their daily deals which are sometimes more than a day. I could have bought 100 bags on the particular code of my dog's food....that's insane! They've also had canned Friskies & other near extinct brands of pet food. The best part about ordering from them is when your order is mucked up...they'll fix it, even if it's FEDEX at fault. If you have disability/shut-in issues or simply unable to find food for your pet of beak,fin,fur, & scales....this might become a better choice. Take care.

I just last week picked up two packages of chicken breasts for $2.13lb from Sams (my walmart showed it at $2.49lb) I immediately took it home cut it into cubes put it on a cookie sheet, stuck it in the oven for 30 min on 250 (just long enough to make it start to turn white) then put it into quart size canning jars and pressure canned it. I fill the jar 1/2 full of chicken and the rest of the way with chicken broth. I'm in the desert so when I go to prepare it I want the extra broth to make rice, mashed potatoes etc I do the same with their pork tenderloins cut into cubes and bake just barely to get some of the blood out then pressure can it with lots of extra broth. I definitely don't want to be having to use my drinking water for cooking when it can be avoided. I also recycle my plastic laundry soap and fabric softener containers and fill them with water to use for handwashing stations in the event they are needed. I am not in a place where we can catch rainwater not because it's illegal but because it doesn't rain. we went over 7 months without a single drop of rain last summer then when it did rain at my home it barely rained for 5 minutes. Not even enough for the dust to be washed off the car port for it to be semi clean water for catchment.

That's a lot of rice! We don't have either of those stores near us. I can't believe your dogs go through a 44-lb bag of dog food a month! Our five cats go through one 20-lb bag of cat food a month. The last time we were out, the steak was about $25 at a restaurant. The Kirkland dishwasher tabs are good. We use them, but our price wasn't as good as yours. We got them on Amazon for about $20 for 115 (someone is obviously making A LOT of money!). A friend of mine told me that with everything happening, she predicts meat shortages come the summer, so she's stocking up on canned and frozen meats. I'm stocking up, too, but don't have too much yet...just getting a little each time (so as not to freak the husband out - I'm a prepper, he's not). Oh, sent you an email...dunno if you saw it.
@poorandposh82312 жыл бұрын
Hey girl! It’s SO good to see you. So $25 per steak sounds about right. We’ve shifted to eating Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican and country diners. Otherwise we cook our own steak. I hear a lot of mothers and wives say they are trying to put away a little food and other items and the family thinks they’re crazy. I cannot understand that philosophy. Buy cheap because you will need it. If you lose a job you will need it. The recession in 2008 hit a LOT of people- you think they would have learned. Example, I can’t even imagine getting down to my last roll of toilet paper unless I’m seriously struggling- I mean really struggling. When you open a pack, buy another pack to put behind or under it. You just keep doing what you’re doing. Maybe one day they will appreciate you for it 😀 BTW the regular rice is for us and the dogs all year. The Jasmine is for the people . But if I can’t find their dog food I’ll have to start making it 😂 I usually go back later in the year but I don’t trust the prices. Checking email : )

Did anyone tell you to buy organic and grass fed meats they are so much healthier!!!

Yes- and I believe that too. I just eat so little red meat and I’m beyond frugal. . . I’m cheap. I tried doing organic in some things but then started thinking I’ve been eating waxy apples from grocery stores for years (no matter how I scrub them) and grapes processed with who knows what and tomatoes that look like tomatoes but don’t taste like tomatoes not to mention the chicken breast the size of turkeys- I can’t afford to do it - so I gave up. I just say a little prayer and go for it

I'm near Canada & prices here are 50-70% more on foods than they were just a few months ago. I don't buy $8 cups of java or get $600 mani/pedi treatments like some ritzy people that are whining...I've a fixed income & live as frugal a life as I can. The problem I & others like me have is our inability to purchase store brand items. For example: a box of Saltine crackers used to be under $1...after months of bare shelves, the cheapest box sold for almost $4. It's greed at its best!
