Okay, what the actual hell?!?!?! I've been watching a lot of Robert Reich's videos from his channel whenever they get recommended to me, which is more frequent than usual, mostly cause I like bite size left wing content on KZbin. Meanwhile, I've been keeping up with the vast amount of Game Changer shorts (not to mention all the other Dropout shows' shorts channels) for at least a year now, and genuinely love Sam's trickster personality. Reish is closer to the German pronunciation so while they're both still wrong it's the closest you can get to pronouncing it correctly with sounds that English speakers are familiar with. And the part where his dad "corrects" the pronunciation is a joke poking fun at commenters like you

People usually know it’s not the most accurate pronunciation, so people going „um actually, it’s pronounced …“ end up getting eyes rolled at them, and it’s its own American running joke at this point (just like how you pointed out how Reich is ‚supposed‘ to be pronounced). In the case of last names, people usually get away with it, because it’s disrespectful to tell a family that how they pronounce their own last name is „wrong“ (this is America, not the motherland). So I think Robert, as a senior family member, being the only one able to roll his eyes at Sam‘s „um actually…“ and ridiculing him for it in front of his coworkers who have heard him introduce himself this way over and over again, is what’s so funny about this.
