my father Van Hilliard, has just been awarded the 2018 #1 World Cup Qualifie Los Angeles ..... He's in hes seventies , a former prostate cancer survvior, and a good man, a bird lover and breeder since his teens. It would be an honor to recognizes him this late in his life as a guest or even an interview. H'es a roller fancier/ breeder and has beautiful real rollers for available for shows and for sale...

Never really understood why they have these beauty shows for rollers. If they don't perform who really cares what they look like. Give me performance over good looks any day

CS DUSE I couldn't agree with you more birds that are only for show are of little interest to me that's why I breed for performance only I introduced color to my birds because I don't like to look at a bunch of the rollers but I will always choose performance over color

Years ago, the idea of holding roller shows was done with the idea of giving fanciers a chance to gather and a chance for old hands in the game to try to teach the young guys what they felt were the type of birds to look for on the ground FOR PERFORMANCE PURPOSES. These types of events can be a good learning experience when you get experienced performance breeders choosing their favorites and explaining why. When held for the wrong purposes (to win big prizes, so-called "credibility", etc) it has a negative impact on the breed once people take more interest in shows than in flying. When I was starting out back in the 70's, the show craze was so widespread in Rollers and so out of hand, that this breed, as the old timers intended it, was considered to be in serious danger of extinction. Roller DISPLAYS can be fun and educational, but should not be seen as anything other than that.

My muffs are could win A show competition and a flight competition!!! And many have won with my backyard muffs though I don't do club fanciers!!!! People make clubs outta of my birds and become presidents and I sit in my backyard and laugh!!! 😎
