Hey Sam, good job on the video. Most of the mistakes you caught and clarified during play but I caught a few additional: 1) you started off rolling defender first and resolving dice, then defender... but like at 3/4 the way through you started rolling simultaneously again and said something about 2nd round? Rounds don’t matter.. defender always rolls first in combat, resolves ALL his dice, then attacker rolls and resolves. 2) command decisions are resolved with all the factions dice, so you can command retreat before the attacker rolls... you dont wait to resolve the attackers dice before deciding on command decisions.

I just finished organizing this one. The 2 v 2 coop looks like a lot of fun to me.

I don't care much about the mistakes, because you solved those on the run and corrected yourself a lot ^^ So I am happy to have learned to play along with you thanks to this video, thumbs up

Sam has explained the treaty game end condition wrong in both this playthrough and the review he did. Only two cards (one complete side - two vikings or two english) are needed to end the game.

Sam here...yes, I know...it was corrected in the video...and that's how the game actually ended...correctly.

The Treaty of Wedmore victory condition is resolved if both treaty cards from ONE OR BOTH factions are in play. So 2 or 4. Not only all 4. There are two possible scenarios for this type of victory condition at the end of Round 5 or beyond.

Wonder if Sam watches History Channels Vikings? Watching that makes me want to play this even more since the characters are heavily featured.

Thanks I really enjoyed this one.

This game was very intimidating from the outset but this video helped me along, mistakes and all. The FAQ from Academy is also very helpful (especially since there are some very ambiguous sections in the rules). I am not used to miniature games but as a 6'7" person these figurines are way too small to handle. They could be 1.5 - 2 times as big and still be practical.

I'm on a train from Detroit to Chicago and this was a great watch. Are there more of these (pertaining to 878 V)? Sam and Tom are hilarious, this was a blast to watch.

Sorry one more thing, leaders resolve their battles before another battle starts. You cant ‘combo’ attack with leaders, but in movement phase it is different and you move all armies before resolving battles.

Thanks for this! Game play videos help me a lot with board game decisions. Is there a reason this isn't on bgg?

Lastly, fled units and ‘reinforcement’ card can add units to leader cards.

It looks fun but I'm missing a bit of politics and economy here. The gameplay seems to boil down to 'move there, fight there'.

Dang, I missed the live play. This looks just like my style and weight of game. Also, I'm guessing Sam hasn't seen the TV show since he pronounces Lagertha's name different from the show?

Not even remotely similar games. I'd pick 878 over T&E though, it's a more enjoyable experience. But I still really enjoy the complex nature of T&E, it's just a lot more thinky than 878 and not as "fun".

You made a huge thing with peasant deck! If it's ever runs out, you DO NOT reshuffle it. That could have saved Sam.
@TheEricBooth6 жыл бұрын
Nope. You do reshuffle it. Rodney got it wrong in his video and he's annotated it. This is straight from the designer.
@TheEricBooth6 жыл бұрын
This is from the official FAQ Is the Fyrd deck reshuffled afer it is depleted? YES! If the Fyrd deck is depleted in either the base game or with any expansion, it is reshuffled and a new draw deck is formed. Note that with the Epic Batles expansion, the Epic Batle cards included in the Fyrd deck change when the Fyrd deck is reshuffled. Reference: 4.7 The Fyrd Granted it is not explicitly mentioned in the rule book.

I have never got something right and Rodney be wrong before. I almost would side against the designer in this case, as that is so flabbergasting to me. Rodney is NEVER wrong!

Not the best "advert for the game. I have heard from other reviewers that it rocks with 3-4 players but not so much as a 2 player game. After watching for 70 minutes as a two player game it feels like its getting tedious and the writing is on the wall already.
