I agree with Sam on the after market bushing. They are a lot harder to fit in. The OEM one have the indentation so that you can fit the spacers in and line them up a lot easier.

Thanks for an excellent video. Very informative. Where did you get the torque table? I reckon it´s important. Kind regards Trille

Those bushings look like polyurethane. I installed poly bushes on my XJ40 and the handling improved, less body roll in the corners. I replaced the bushings in the upper and lower arms, sway bar and sway bar link plus the lower shock bushings too. How was the handling after you installed those bushings? Why did they suck?

Was the front end making a knocking sound that you knew these bushings were bad?

@sam1174 alright, thanks for the heads up, i'll use the OEM bushings

May I ask you, on a newer 2006 xk, do you know if it's possible to replace just the rubber cover on the rear upper suspension arm ball joint? It failed the mot. Joints are OK. It's just the rubber things. I have no idea how it works but they want to replace the whole arm and joint for huge money, all because of the rubber thing. Cheers

@IhaveanXJ40 Did the poly bushes increase harshness or road noise at all? I fancy some for my XK8 but don't want to upset the ride quality.

where did you buy the new bushings?

You should pre lubricate your bolt with moly grease or any old axle grease honestly. it brings it together nicely and eliminates creeking.

Hi sam! Thank you so much for this vid! Did the same work last week. Had the same problems with the washers. Finally I put only 3 washers back in. Car is driving well. Do you think that might could be a problem in the future?

@macthemec Don't buy the ones I bought. They sucked. I forget where I got them, but if I were to do this over again I'd pay a little more and buy OEM bushings from the Jaguar dealer.

Just make sure you buy "real" bushings, not those crappy ones I bought. This job would have been so easy if I had just used genuine Jag parts.

Did you ever video the lower control arm bushes being replaced?
