Samaneri Jayasāra - Wisdom of the Masters

2 жыл бұрын

Atisha was born in the year 982 AD in East Bengal. He was one of the major figures in the spread of 11th-century Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism in Asia and inspired Buddhist thought from Tibet to Sumatra. He is recognised as one of the greatest figures of classical Buddhism. Atisha's chief disciple, Dromtön, was the founder of the Kadam school, one of the New Translation schools of Tibetan Buddhism, later supplanted by the Gelug tradition in the 14th century, adopting its teachings and absorbing its monasteries.
Atisha's Heart Advice was translated by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Music: Ether Meditation - Throat Chakra Opening
Solgeggio Harmonics - 528Hz

I find this wisdom very applicable to modern life and there are some hard truths here. Particularly those regarding pointless activities or activities without essence in this modern world so full of meaningless distractions. Truly, if something is not enriching another or one's own spirituality then it has no value. Thank you for sharing this.

Though it is of great use at one point of the journey, is quite funny that some of what is taught here, on avoiding of certain places, activities and persons at one point becomes the greatest obstacle. For at a certain point on the journey, the avoidance of certain places, activities, persons indeed arise as an aversion within our own mind. There is nothing to avoid in the world! Simply the arising of greed and ill-will within our own minds, the source of all suffering is what must be surrendered, let go of, seen as false, noticed with attention. For it is very easy to fall into aversion and hatred for the world, if one begins to see it as “unspiritual”, or a detriment to the path. All things, all beings are the path, for they reveal to us that which arises within our minds as greed and ill-will, so we may liberate ourselves from such mental delusion. Has not the Buddha said, “putting away greed and aversion with regards to the world…” plain to us? There are many of us who fall into the unfortunate trap of seeing parts or the entirety of the world as unholy and to be avoided, not realizing the aversion that grows within our own mind, and blinds us to the Truth that is within all things, for as it is said “form is formlessness, formlessness is form”, and “Creator and Creation are One”. That which the world calls ugly is utter Beauty when seen with a clear mind. Thank-you for your work, Jayasara, for there is much wisdom here.
