I have been a blues fan since I was a kid and play guitar myself( I'm 66 yrs young). Saw this talent at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena,Arkansas. I was impressed with her voice and guitar chops at such a young age and had a nice talk with her after her performance. Down to earth and yeah she is good looking too. Saw her last year in St. Louis, Mo. too. Glad to see someone her age carry the blues torch forward. She is the real deal and will only get better !

This is my favorite era of Samantha Fish. I mean, she is way better now- Her playing is immaculate. Her look is just so. She's a stone cold professional. But feel this! She is already very good on the guitar, but she is stretching hard. The speed and relentlessness of this groove are incredibly demanding. No excuses, she wrote it herself. There are many missing notes, slightly imprecise bends, rough edges. But it doesn't matter, does it? She is following the advice of Yoda. "Do or do not. There is no try." What is so enthralling about this era of Fish is how she simply wills her vision of the song into being, nicks scratches and all. But its energy and feeling are complete. I love the absolute conviction. The fearlessness she shows. It feels like a close battle for first place in a motocross race. Now the battle is won, or has moved to a much subtler plane. It seems less heroic. I still love it, but I miss this.

For the record: I shot it with a Canon S95 compact (highly recommend) so it was a digital zoom not a hardware zoom, hence the bad focus. Got tired of holding the camera after 5 or 6 minutes which didn't help either. As for cold, it was about mid 50's with a cold breeze. With all that said if you have the chance, go see her! Amazing show, can't wait to see her again!
