it's an umbrella term, so no it doesn't mean anything, it's an easier faster way to say you don't identify as male or female, but usually nonbinary people have all very different specifics, some don't care and just go by the vague label and others have fancier identities (xenogender, agender, bigender, genderfluid are all under the nonbinary umbrella)-- it's a lot like using the queer label, it doesn't mean anything other than you're not straight

@GamerZone Speaking But you need to understand though that if people want to amend anti-discrimination laws and categorize a new protected class to include "nonbinary individuals" they need a concrete definition of who is and isn't nonbinary. According to some definitions of nonbinary, I'm considered nonbinary despite me being born as and living as a woman. Some definitions suggest that nonbinary people don't identify as men or women but people can still be "nonbinary women" and "nonbinary men". Some definitions say nonbinary people are trans while other say they are separate from the transgender community. Some definitions say nonbinary individuals don't conform to gender roles but women or men who are completely gender conforming can call themselves nonbinary.

1:32:07 Sam completely misses the point. He argues that breasts are sexual which is not at all what Arielle was arguing against. Breasts are body parts that women naturally have. Arielle's point is that the absense of breasts is seen as the "default body." If non-binary people are neither female nor male, it doesn't make sense for women to surgically mimick male chests, while men do not mimick female chests. Breasts are a default body part for 99.9% of women. There is nothing "neutral" about breast removal. The absense of breasts is only neutral if you view men as the default humans. Patriarchy teaches us that men are the default humans while women are secondary. This patriarchal way of thinking is so old the word "man" has historically meant "human." Old words and phrases like "mankind" and "since the dawn of man" reinforce this. Even on the toilet signs, a man is a generic human shaped person while a woman is a person in a dress. The penis is an unusual body part that only half the population has. If "non-binary" males wanted to be more neutral, they should cut if off. But they don't because men are conditioned to believe they are the default humans (also they enjoy sex). Arielle makes an excellant point about default male beliefs.

Nah not really. Breasts are additive. You can remove them, you can't remove anything from lacking them. Men can also develop breasts or some form of them and often do. And women don't have breasts until puberty. Nipples perhaps? No, because both have them from birth. You are wrong about mankind and Man. In those cases, and in most -man such as fisherman, it is moreorless gender-neutral. The words to refer to men were actually lost over time and had no connection to the word man, which in terms of standard contemporary English merely meant person or one, often as a suffix such as in the word woman. These uses of 'man' can be thought of as archaic but not really gendered. This obsession with seeing gender in things is actually what has recently made English more gendered in many respects, revising words which were once neutral as gendered and requiring new words for strict gendering. It is not reflective of the actual language, only confused impressions which some cannot abide. If it were the words for women that were lost, feminists would spin it as sexism and the devaluation of women. You could say men were so unimportant than the concept of man had to share a word with the concept of person, not worthy of explicit distinction, two meanings delineated by context. Of course this is silly but such absurdities are common in feminist rhetoric and usually even more vague (and loaded). In reality it is a coincidence and not easy to reduce to anything in particular. As for toilets, they are simple symbols to distinguish male and female, it's a matter of pragmatism and I don't see why it must have some deeper implication. The distinction still holds up too because while women can wear whatever men cannot wear dresses or skirts without being a deviant crossdresser or tranny. Your argument rests on the notion that pants are more default than dresses but that seems more like your own bias. Try telling cultures that didn't wear pants (most of them historically) that the male symbol is more default than the female one. 'while men do not mimic female chests' have you heard of breast implants? Pretty sure many of them who identify as non-binary do. Still, I have to agree, even though breasts are additive, that is no reason to equate removal with neutrality when it is needless intervention in what was already neutral. Penis is a good point but your obsession with hunting for social implications and gendering is very similar to the way these gender ideologues think and equally as flawed. Have you considered that perhaps removing it is considerably more inconvenient and dangerous, at least with current medical technology, than removing breasts (which only have the effect of being unable to breastfeed). Not talking about sex either. Remembering horror stories about dilation rn. I don't think anyone thinks in such terms as 'default human' or is conditioned to do so. This is quite the claim to make. However, your experience is mainly informed by what you have so obviously everyone is biased. Not to defend these inconsistent, backwards people but there you go.
@skyworm8006
@skyworm8006 3 жыл бұрын
Also wife was the original woman. You can see its original meaning in words like fishwife, alewife, midwife. At some point the meaning became more limited and a different word was used as the general word. The etymology usually given is wife + man but it could instead be a plural of wife that became singular. Easy way to create a new word, just use the plural with a different meaning. Changes in meaning are quite common, fowl was the general word for bird until the 16th century when it was displaced and became more specific. Its cognates are still the general word in other Germanic languages.

Lux throwing shade at Arielle for trying to make money, when Lux making response videos to controversial videos, is lucrative. Not to mention, putting a lot of effort in your look, and putting yourself in the thumbnail, is also a way to garner clicks and therefore money. Lux is the epitome of a stubborn youngster who thinks they are wise beyond their years. The sarcastic and overly dramatic tone Lux uses, when strawmanning Arielle's position, is just... cringe. "TrAnS pEoPlE aRe tAkInG aWaY wOmEn'S rIgHtS." That isn't an argument, and the erasure of sexed language, means that laws that refererence sex, are no longer effective. If you cannot maintian a consistent defintion of what it means to be a female, then you cannot legally protect females, and guess what, they still need protections. Pregnancy is not something Lux can ever truly understand, so I feel like this just goes over their head as to why it is so damn crucial to maintain a consistent definition. Males and females face different issues, both need their specific protections. Yes. Non-binary IS sexist. The entire basis of Non-Binary, hinges on clothes, hair, makeup, hobbies, skills, personality types, being strictly linked to sex, to the point that they actually dictate your gender identity. Instead of being a woman who enjoys monster trucks, your love of monster trucks, means you cannot be a woman, you have to be a demi-boy or some shite. And I wish that was a joke, but you have trans people on Twitter literally suggesting that if you are a male, but choose to play as female game characters, then you *may* be a trans woman. Anyone who references cultures with third genders, is a dolt. Those cultures are so strictly sexist, that the idea of a female taking on the "man's role" is so unacceptable, that she has to be given a different gender title. Homosexual males, masculine females, females forced to fulfil male's role in society, castrated males etc. They are put into these new gender categories. If Non-Binary males can just wear dresses, and makeup, but Non-Binary females feel pressure to take HRT or get a double mastectomy, in order to feel valid in their identity, then how can you not understand that that is so sexist? Male bodies being considered the default. If a cis woman like Arielle is not allowed to discuss trans issues, then why the fuck can males literally claim the identity of what it means to be female and act like they know all the facets of being a female in society? When trans activists are demanding the erasure of sexed language, and calling for the sterilisation of homosexual, and/or autistic children who may or may not be "truly" transgender, some of us are going to take issue with it. Lux, until you start producing Ova, then no, you haven't changed sex. Which, isn't possibe since all the ova that we will ever have, are in our ovaries before we are even born.

That performative femininity which is the tool of our society to ritualize female subordination and oppression under male domination. But that ritual has become so synonymous with “woman” that these people believe a male can become female or a woman if he looks “beautiful” (altered and non-human) enough. I agree with both of you. My longest comment got removed. The point was that misogyny affects all women, but it can be expressed differently for a conventionally attractive woman and an unattractive woman. This is called lookism. It’s a genuine problem and the halo effect is proof of how irrationally high some people value a certain look. Men are also affected by lookism. I wish the current beauty standard didn’t require cosmetic treatments or makeup or surgical enhancements. I am unattractive myself with or without makeup. One of my biggest fears is not being believed or being mocked. I realise if I ever were to speak against people like Sam, others would attack my looks and make it clear that I have low social value. In my opinion it appears that the current beauty fads are not rooted in healthiness, and at the same time we are told that healthy = attractive.

It's a particular irrelevance when the current demand is for gender dysphoria to be removed as a requirement for changing one's legal sex. By definition of the modern trans movement, gender dysphoria is merely an occasional problem affecting some trans people. Being trans is...something else. 🤷‍♂

It's funny and a bit sad when KC applies clear, irrefutable criticism to someone like Sam who is so reliant on irrational stereotypes, emotional coersion, and the low level intellect of a pubescent base. Normally I would think it borderline mean (like picking on the intellectually challenged), but I don't think Sam is as dim as he acts and more importantly, he's incredibly damaging to the young minds (especially female) he preys on. Just can't tolerate predatory narcissists, and they need to be called out no matter how low hanging that fruit. So thanks King for doing this important work.

Denomination is a sub group catagory isnt it. She seems to be comparing non-binary to being an atheist or agnostic; i.e it's a lack of belief in gender. The problem is when you disregard gender you only have sex left, and the words we use to reference your sex in orderinary circumstances would be the same ones used to reference your gender (man/woman).And youre still going to be catagorised in the binary by people who dont know you prefer they/them because there's no way of determining if someone probably prefers they/them by the way they look alone. I listen to what non-binary people are saying and non-binary people are 100% using "non-binary" as another word for adrogenous because they either perceive themselves to be unusually masculine or feminine for their sex or because people have told them they are. The last person i saw announce that theyre non-binary was Zachery Michael, and his reasoning was literally that he grew up with people telling him he "acts like a girl" (he's an effeminate gay man). Apparently it's not okay to just be an effeminate gay man any more.

The only truly "binary" people left are in pockets of society (usually religious) who have been bullied and beaten into submission as children, brainwashed by media, and bullied and beaten as adults, like puzzle pieces that have been cut with scissors to fit. Now that I know non-binary is just a term used by cultists in order to feel special or part of something greater than themselves (and I HATE religion/spirituality/superstition with every fiber of my being) I am no longer using the term to describe myself. 😁

The problem is the self-identity criterion. It’s just balls. In order to be consistent - they have to say that none of the typical indicators of either sex are essentially related to the sex, I can dress and act anyway I want. All this implies is that social roles are not binary, not that sex/gender isn’t. They make the mistake of thinking that gender/sex does not exist because the traditional social roles linked with those gender/sex are conventional and not essential. The argument is invalid.
@ryptoll4801

Here's my understanding on what nonbinary means: They generally tend to think that it shouldn't be any objective reference point, only subjective ones. Like for example one nonbinary person may say the reason they identify as nonbinary is because they're androgynous (reference point 1: gender roles) while another may say it's because they don't wanna be defined by their biological sex (reference point 2: sexism?) and yet another might say it's because they wanna have both a penis and a vagina (reference point 3: watching too much futanari porn... er, I mean dysphoria.) So nonbinary can be defined, in many different ways, but it doesn't have a one, solid, objective definition. And yes, Samantha is right in that that is the whole point, that nonbinary is meant to be a nebulous concept, only ever truly defined in negatives; what it is not. I dunno if this makes sense, but my understanding on nonbinary is as an identity based on one's personal understanding of what being a man or woman means, and rejecting the notion of being (solely) one or the other. So it's entirely subjective, but there are a few commonly used reference points, which are: gender incongruence, gender/social dysphoria, sex/physical dysphoria, gender expression, biological sex, having an intersex condition, sexual orientation, experiences of sexism, etc, and one's personal interpretation of those. Usually people will use more than one of those reference points, but which ones is highly individual. Think of it as a psychological disorder with a checklist of lots of different criteria, but you only need to fit one of them, and also no one can diagnose you with said disorder except from yourself. My opinion on this definition of nonbinary, is: It has a lot of issues, alright. I don't even know where to begin. I feel like it often is sexist in outcome, although I can understand that's not sexist in intent. In fact, I think a lot of the time it's an attempt to escape sexism, especially for females, gay people, and gnc males who identify as nonbinary. And accusing them of being sexist for trying to escape sexism, feels a little tactless. Like that's probably stepping on a very sore toe, and there's no fucking wonder they screech back at that. I find this subjectivity basis for gender identity incredibly confusing and headache inducing. I can't for the life of me "decide" what my own gender identity should be based on that utter garbage. I wanna yeet gender into the sun. I am tired. Nothing makes sense. I'm just a medically masculinised biological female, and it doesn't goddamn make me anything. Except annoyed by people fighting over what my "gender" is, and whether it's transphobic to not wanna fuck me. I wish so badly there was an objective answer to gender identity. Even if everyone could agree on that simply having a pussy means I'm a woman and that's my only alternative, I'd take that at this point.

I just want to say that you're an absolute class act. I appreciate what you're doing and I think you're intelligent and eloquent. But I also think you would have a far greater impact if you could make shorter videos, especially since the vast majority of the planet has the attention span of a fruit fly. And yours is an important voice in this whole... gender war?

Yeah I enjoy watching his long videos but I feel like if he made shorter videos they would get out to a larger audience like Magdalens and make more of an impact. Like he makes great points it’s just no one new to the gender critical world will sit for that long to listen

Perhaps we're using different definitions of the term, but I don't believe that "respect" is a human right. I can have zero respect for you as a person but still respect your rights.

At first thought I wanted to say that it's unfair to criticize Samantha because she's simply not very intelligent but I guess if she's putting herself out there like this and trying desperately to present herself as someone that's not a moron then I guess she deserves it

@6:02 It's is not naivety. Men like this one are instead deliberately hoping to con the truly naive, usually kids. Not even this man believes he's a woman. Pull any successful con man off the street, and he'll immediately be able to break down how they use doublespeak and emotionality to confuse the listener into buying their load of cr@p.

what other word in the English language means "whatever you want it to mean" 😭
@kwk111
@kwk111 7 ай бұрын
Yep. Given that words are arbitrary mouth noises we use as verbal labels to communicate things, how that works is: we first observe X, then assign to it a word, let's say "floob", and if we are to have a meaningful discussion about "real floobs" we must acknowledge that the word was indeed assigned to X. Then to say "Y are equally real floobs as X", or "floob means different things to different people" that doesn't actually communicate anything. There's an unfortunate amount of mental gymnastics and gaslighting being done by those who defend and promote gender theory. I'm an open minded compassionate person, but I'm simply unable to believe in ideas that are logically incoherent.

If I say a gay man can be a man, a woman or not attracted to men at all, all he/she has to do is identify as a gay man and they are one. Being a gay man means something different to everybody. Then given the above, explain what is a gay man and why they're not a lesbian or straight. Anyone who identifies as such, umbrella term, something uniquely defined by each person… It's weird how non definitions can shut down valid criticisms with this topic. And it's getting worse. The word trans woman doesn't even mean anything now when the burliest bearded hulking man you can picture is now acceptable as a woman once he claims to be such. Trans woman then means anyone who identifies as such too. Non binary means not identifying with a binary that essentially no longer exists since it's not tied to sex and gender is whatever one believes it is.

Hey King Critical nice video but I would like to point out Hispanics are considered a different race because most are a mix of indigenous, African, and European ancestry. Most Hispanics can not easily pass as white, unlike the representation seen on tv. Yeah sure can, such as certain immigrant groups like wife cubans, but the average Hispanic looks distinct enough from someone white that you can tell. It’s similar with Arabs. I guess you could make a point that Arabs are considered a different race due to Islam and historical friction between them and Christendom Europe...

Hispanic means someone from a Spanish speaking country. Spanish people are white. Hispanic is not a race. Arabs are not considered a different race because of Islam. They are different race because they have different look. Race is based on looks . Race and religion are 2 different things. Somalia is almost 100% Muslim and they are not Arab

I swear I used the analogy, before I heard you use it, in my earlier comment. I do think it makes sense, though your point is interesting. I think someone saying they are non-denominational, just means that they don’t follow any of the established denominations, it does not mean they are saying that non-denominational is a denomination. It is just glasses cleaning so that others are prepared for your elaboration on what you believe. For instance I am not a justificationist. I am non-justificationist, but that isn’t my philosophy, my philosophy is critical rationalism. For instance sayjbg I am a denominational Christian does not imply that denominational is a denomination - that would be a category error. Another example, I am not a sportsman is not a category of sport.

I disagree with you that everyone is entitled to respect & respect is not earned. Entitlement is a big problem today. Trans feel entitled. Men feel entitled. Young people feel entitled. People who show no respect for others demand respect. It's like we have millions of Cartmans in every western country running around demanding, "You will respect my authoritiii! LGB people won our rights by gaining the respect of the larger society. Yes, we had marches on Washington & lobbying days, etc. But the real change came as we came out & people got to know us. We changed their perceptions of what same-sex attracted people were like, shattering stereotypes that we were immoral, predatory, anti-religious, that we hated the opposite sex, etc. It's completely different from the TQWERTYHETERO+WHOELSECANBETRENDY&PRETENDTHEY'REOPPRESSED+FIRSTWORLD"PROBLEMS" Alphabet Mafia of today that demand respect but actively DISRESPECT others & even seek to harm others for the slightest deviation from their cult's dogma. We never employed DARVO tactics, victimizing others while claiming to be victims ourselves. We never demanded that heterosexual people have sex with us or be called bigots & homophobes. We DID answer questions with rational arguments, not with circular definitions & ad hominem attacks. So, while everyone is entitled to basic human rights & equal protection under the law, not everyone is entitled to respect. Respect has to be earned.

It’s not that people call themselves nondenominational. They talk about institutions that are nondenominational, because they are staffed by religious people from many denominations. They aren’t associated with just one denomination.
