Philosophytube is a great example of one of those dudes who "comes out" by ideologically insisting he's had some inner essence all along that makes him know he's a woman, while putting on a display that gloriously demonstrates he's never empathized with a woman in his entire life.

Anyone who’s paid one brain cell of attention knows that Philosophy’s goal is to copy Contra and become a bigger, better, and more active trans woman than her. That’s where she gets this “immense pressure” to be pretty and articulate in trans activism. It’s all rooted in comparing herself to Contrapoints

His comparison of abortion to puberty blockers is extremely, extremely offensive. It’s important to keep in mind, the potential physical impact of pregnancy on a woman’s body starts at stretch marks and ticks every box up to death. These risks are even worse for young girls, and their chances of dying are higher. That’s before we touch on the statistics that say women who give birth in their teens are less likely to finish school, get secondary education, establish well-paying careers that allow them freedom and independence. Literally what is the impact of puberty? It sucks and is really hard for kids with dysphoria? It’s really hard for all kids, terrible. Which is why support is so important. However, it is not remotely comparable to abortion, and to suggest it is is extremely offensive and sexist. Abortion grants women and girls the right to equal education and participation in society, being attractive while presenting as the opposite sex is not a right. He really needs to stop trying to compare the extremely important rights and real oppression of other communities to spread his personal belief system.

If someone is too irresponsible to handle freedom without killing babies, maybe they shouldn't have freedom? You're talking about "rights" and "oppression" as if what you're demanding isn't the ability to strip all rights from another class of human beings in order to kill them, to mitigate (in 99% of cases) the impact of an individual's irresponsibility. It's unbelievably ghoulish and hypocritical - and ultimately disempowering, self-refuting and ineffective.

@BJ.581
@BJ.581 3 жыл бұрын
@@WasFakestCenturyAesthetics If that is indeed the case, and I’m trying to give you the benefit of the doubt that it’s not, perhaps you could point me to another class of “people” that have the “right” to utilize another people’s body to sustain their “life.” Because you do understand that if you were dying, and I was the only bone marrow match on the planet that could save you, I would still have a right we call bodily autonomy to deny you life saving bone marrow, thereby killing you. No “person” has the right to the body of another. It’s really this simple: you believe women are full human beings with autonomy and the right to make their own health decisions, or you don’t. If it’s the latter, you’re a misogynist.
@WasFakestCenturyAesthetics
@WasFakestCenturyAesthetics 3 жыл бұрын
@@BJ.581 Yes, that's exactly what it is. I think all human beings have the right to the integrity of their body. You think certain human beings should be denied this right. Your analogy is so obviously stupid that I can't believe people still use it, except that you have nothing else. I assume you're being disingenuous, but let me explain the painfully obvious difference in case you aren't. In your scenario, my life depends on you by pure coincidence. You had nothing to do with it. In the case of pregnancy, another human's life depends on you as the predictable, avoidable consequence of actions you performed voluntarily for your own pleasure. Duh. You had a right to control what happens to your body; you failed to exercise that right, and you don't get to deny other humans rights to make yourself whole after your failed to exercise your own rights. That's your fault, not the fault of the human being who now depends on you through no fault of their own.

And Abigail have at least 30 grands per month, from decently rich family, and can get those without even working at all, or with just putting 1-2 videos per month. So it is not even remotely scary. And lets not forget how Abigail in previous video said that "I was presenting as male on my work and in business, but in other places I was living as woman for a year now. And now I know womens oppression better then women". Oh yeah? No woman can "use male privilege on work" and "be woman for fun at home". That just does not work this way. And how offensive for women is bragging with kind of privilege and then saying that "I am more oppressed than you are"?

Sorry Abigail, until you wake up soaked in sweat from hot flushes, nearly lose your job at work for moods that swing between temper and tears, painful abdominal cramps, periods that stop and start again unpredictably, then let's talk about who should be prescribed hormones from by a GP. Also a friend had breast reduction surgery, not just back ache - she had terrible migraine, summer time she got infections under her breasts from the heat and chafing. It was causing her physical pain and depression. It's actually a fairly bad health problem, not just a bit of backache. Unbelievably selfish to act like women's health problems are just like a man who wants to look more like a woman. PT can't actually believe this I'm sure, it's gotta just be schtick.

I honestly wonder how much of the appeal of being mtf trans is due to the trappings masculinity in the modern western world being so boring. Historically, men wore high heels, wore giant wigs, had colorful garments, wore jewelry, etc. even today, most fashion designers are men, both gay and straight. I wonder how many kids formed the idea in their heads that since they liked colors and dressing up that therefore they must not be men. I’m a woman who doesn’t like dressing femininely; wearing bright colors and “fashionable” clothing makes me feel like I’m crawling out of my skin. That’s not gender dysphoria; it’s personal taste that in a sane world wouldn’t be gendered.
@parkinglotsofhell
@parkinglotsofhell 3 жыл бұрын
To add on to this I think it’s telling that it’s not weird for a woman to wear men’s clothing and plenty of us do with no issues about our gender (unfortunately that seems to be changing). However, as far as I can tell, it’s incredibly uncommon for men to wear stereotypically feminine clothing if they don’t also identify as trans. Like, it’s weirder for a man to go around in a dress than it is for a man to insist that he’s actually a woman. It’s bizarre.

the effects of puberty blockers are definitely permanent. there is permanent bone density loss, for one thing, but another is that pubery does not just affect the genitals, blocking puberty literally stunts the growth of the brain, i just watched an interview buck angel did with a trans girl who was on puberty blockers and she said it was horrendous, this trans girl said she felt mentally stunted and was in clear emotional turmoil (i was also getting vibes that she was actually just a gay boy who had made a mistake but that is not my claim to make). !! in addition, we have long term studies of gender dysphoric children that show a majority 65-90% of them desist by the time they are adults, the gender dysphoria goes away and they learn to love themselves for who they are, typically gender non-conforming people (because gender is a striaght-jacket), and typically these people are gay. whereas ~99% of children who are put on puberty blockers go on to cross sex hormones. this is not buying them time, it is signing a contract. if the brain and body are not maturing, why do you think gender dysphoria would go away? and why are we doing this to children who would otherwise would have lived happy lives without medical intervention.

Which reminds me of the way most white males see women. Also funny enough you mentioned the whole TRAs talking about black women being manly and not being women which is a white male point of view and is exactly what philosophy tube tweeted when they came out. Re. Alex's point about child suicide - yes, there's no legacy of it. There aren't any convincing stats showing kids even kill themselves now because of trans issues. All data is based on self-reported suicide attempts, not completed suicide. Suicide in kids is in fact, thankfully, extremely rare. With the recent push for trans acceptance one would expect, if transition reduces suicide, that child suicides would fall in the last few years, but in fact that hasn't been the case. Rates are increasing. The fact is that kids have too much access to the internet at the moment and it's making them depressed. Increased rates of GD are a consequence of that. Social media increases anxiety, feelings of isolation, and body dissatisfaction. Access to poisonous sites like Tumblr and Twitter as well as the ubiquity of misogynistic internet porn give kids crazy ideas about sex and gender and sell the impossible dream that changing your sex will solve all your problems. Kids need to be away from the internet until at least 16 years of age.

I'm a bit suspicious of this latest narrative arc from PT. If you look at PT's back catalogue you can see that they had a pretty full on beard less than a year ago, whilst apparently living as a woman. There's something that isnt quite ringing true about it all and i wouldnt be surprised if it turned out to be some kind of eleborate social experiment or something. PT has always come across as a bit fake and pretentious imo, and that seems even more heightened in recent videos. I dont know exactly where PT is from, but it's always niggled me that theyre trying so hard to put on an RP accent when theyre clearly northern.

I can’t believe Philosophytube showed any apprehension to coming out as trans on KZbin because she got hundreds of thousands of subscribers after her coming out video and now has over 1 million subscribers. I also find it unlikely that she had been transitioning for one year beforehand and that she only said that to make people take her transition seriously, because few people take trans people without dysphoria seriously, and Philosophytube never claims to have it

Enjoy your content but do you think using “gender” as (I assume) a proxy for sex is accepting the ideology you are critiquing? it would be clearer if you stuck to sex. Also there is no evidence of higher rates of suicides in children with “gender dysphoria” . Even the Tavistock state that there is no higher rate than any other referrals with a mental health issue.. Someone also trawled through all serious case reviews for under 18s and none were attributed to having issues with a transgender identity. There is evidence of higher rates of suicide post transition. .

As far as I know, trans identified females don't ask for breast *reduction* - they ask for breast *amputation*; puberty blockers don't permanently *delay* puberty - they permanently *block* puberty (although to be honest i'm not 100% sure about this one. Well, that guy ("Abigail") is not only delusional, he is, as you point out, bad at philosophy. But transgenderism has seemingly taken over the entire discipline of philosophy. It's such an absurd view, supported by such terrible arguments, that any decent undergraduate should be able to shred it. But the academy, including philosophy, is so thoroughly devoted to / cowed by the left wing that most are afraid to say anything against it--especially transgenderism. Friend of mine went to the Eastern meeting of the American Philosophical Association recently. This is, arguably, the most important annual meeting of philosophers in the world. He sat in a room and listened while a feminist argued that anyone anti-"trans" was basically insane. A group of about 40 philosophers sat there in silence listening to this. According to him, the fear was palpable. No one made a peep of objection.
