CORRECTION: Samantha asked Meghan to support their Father financially in some way when she got the Deal Or No Deal Job not Suits! Apologies. This book didn’t really clear up anything for me 😂 There is probably another video in this one…let me know if you are interested! Actually I might answer any questions or misunderstandings from the comments! 😊 One point to realise is…the Princess Pushy interview kicked off all the negative press at the time It was VERY early days & Samantha states it wasn’t what she meant and it went from bad to worse at that point. No-one really knew about Samantha or Thomas Jr prior to that. It sparked all the drama! 😂

I find it so weird that Meghan was incensed with her father for run-of-the-mill pap shots of him shopping, sitting in a café, going to a gym, and a tailor in preparation for her wedding; that he didn't make it too because of having a heart attack. Then she cuts him off entirely - that's just inhumane.

Why does it surprise you that Harry never made an effort to meet Thomas Markle? 1) Harry was under the control of his narcissistic fiancé. 2) Maybe being as entitled as he is, he didn't feel the need to meet him or get his blessing. 3) When has Harry *ever* made an effort to do anything.

And let us not forget the alleged claims of “interference” Meghan allegedly told Harry. Apparently and reportedly both Dan W and Lady C have tape of Tom M refuting those claims since someone in MM’s camp tried to give that story to Lady C for her biography, according to and as reported by Lady C who also points out that once Tom M dies “you can’t libel a dead man”.

@@thevintageread Yes, that seemed over the top right out of the box. Yet, they knew about Trevor, and there was also the prior marriage and annulment. There have been pictures of that too, though she had wanted all of those destroyed. Or so they say. I think I recall Thomas speaking of it. If it is annulled, it is as if it never happened, and that seems like that is the way everyone is treating it. His name is out there and his parents insisted on the annulment. Princess Pushy is a brilliant name for Meghan and so true. When Thomas Jr wrote that public letter to Harry I actually sympathized with MM thinking her family was mean and trouble. Now, we know he was speaking the truth. There’s something about the Markle family though that I don’t like, I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it’s a trust issue, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I do think Samantha is a smart woman, she’s educated and she’s been through a lot with her health struggles. I think she deserves more respect from her narcissistic sister than she gets. Meghan discarded her family like they were spoiled eggs. I felt the same at first because M controlled the press coverage. I'm not sure if my perspective may be skewed because I'm disabled, but I'm wondering if anyone else noticed that M disengages whenever someone's health fails. M stopped speaking to her uncle who got her the embassy internship and his family as soon as he was diagnosed with cancer, not even sending a card when he died. Prior to cutting off her father, he told her he was having health problems and wanted to see her. She said he would have to buy a ticket and fly to see her. She detached from her sister when she first became disabled in high school. In the doc she claimed that she cared for her grandmother at the end, but the family said she hardly ever visited her in the nursing home. They never went to see Prince Philip or the Queen all those months they were dying, especially withholding the children. And her comment that she wouldn't let Prince Philip's illness be used to silence her was atrocious.

Two thoughts come to mind. First, Samantha should never have had to ask Meghan to help with their father's finances. Apparently, Meghan was worth $5 million when she got married. Shouldn't she have been voluntarily helping to support her retired father? Second, it has been known that Meghan acquired security for her mother and counseled her how to handle press intrusion. Why didn't she contribute the same help to her father? If she had, it's likely all the public mess could have been avoided. Thomas never received a formal invitation nor transportation to the wedding, but Doria did. I think that early on, Meghan decided to abandon her father and favor Doria for whatever reason. It all comes back to Meghan's actions or inactions.

I am 7 and 5 years younger than my sisters. I was always the tag along through their teen years, never allowed in their circle, and was always resented and not unaccepted. But, I matured into an excellent pianist and earned their respect and I never lost the desire to be close to my sisters and worked diligently to “earn” and maintain their love and respect. I believe, the reason why the Markle family is divided is that MM lacks the desire to earn anyone’s respect as she expects it to be given to her. She feels no need to show humility, as she looks down on others demanding their service and offerings. I feel it is only appropriate for Samantha to include all family members by informing them of Thomas’ status and to pull resources from ALL members. Isn’t this what the older child does, especially the one living it? My mom is in a care facility and I want to know how I can help, contribute to giving her the quality of life she worked tirelessly for me to have. It is appalling that MM would find this offensive. MM had exceptional resources to give, she now has so many resources more at her disposal, but can’t give anything back to her father? And we are to believe she is a philanthropist? That she is sincerely giving of her time? No way.

They were arranging themselves and the trophy so she would be under it like it was her trophy. She had the biggest perma-grin/smile, clapping for no reason over and over again like a 2-year-old meeting Cinderella, she was on cloud 9, American saying. She was in the center with her child-like expression "Look at me everyone, I'm the most special person here" and they were all looking at her. Trevor Phillips, a former Head of Race Relations here in the UK, said recently that Meghan had to 'learn how to be black' once she had entered the RF. She had decided how she was going to play the part, choose projects and visits which supported black activism and, in general, use her mother as chief foil and dump all the white side of the family. Samantha's feelings can only be imagined.

A large age gap between siblings can make a huge, huge difference. I have a sister 13 years older than me, and it's one of many reasons I have never been close to her. For one thing, she was never around. When I was starting school, she was going to university and living in Europe as an exchange student. We didn't live in the same universe. But what was far worse were the family problems, which she did not perceive in the same way. When she was born, my parents had lost a child and, if anything, were overattached to her and lavished love and affection on her. When they had me, 13 years later, oopsy, it was an "accident" (and my mother made no bones about it - I knew, and she even told me the doctor had to convince her to "go through with it"). Not only that, but my father's mental health problems and alcoholism escalated gradually over the years. My sister insisted my Dad was loving and honorable and didn't drink excessively, but I had to sit across the dinner table from him every night and watch him get plastered, not to mention abusive, particularly towards me. I was the last one left at home, and a ready target. But according to her, he was wonderful and loving. It was as if we had different parents. And we ended up having VERY different paths. She got a university degree but worked at ordinary jobs, went through a lot of men, never married, came back from Europe pregnant (with a fiance waiting for her in Canada), gave it up for adoption, then threw little darts at me because I was "only" a stay-at-home Mom with two beautiful kids (and a wonderful husband!). In her opinion, I was wasting my life as a household drudge. Her jealousy took the form of verbal abuse and what I now understand as gaslighting. When I finally cut off contact, she was bitter, in poor health, and had driven out pretty much everyone in her life. So the tale of two sisters had a very different ending. BTW, I am still married, my kids are still my pride and joy, and I am just as proud of my grandkids!

To have those pictures and what not held against them is just beyond silly. That is just an excuse for a grudge as far as I am concerned. When you look at meghens choices at the time, it is quite a mismatch of behaviours. She won't fix things with her father and sister. She will write a letter but provides 6 copies to other people to ensure it gets released. She rejects the Queens' offer to remain an actor and claims she wants to hit the ground running in service, but still takes on interviews and wants free for exposure private contracts. There is more, but there is a whole list of conundrum actions that make it hard to understand meghens motivation in life aside from meghen.

Thomas covered Meghan with love and tons of money that was never spent on Thomas Jr. and Samantha. Older siblings feel left out and neglected in their area of love and support. They know that it seems immature to feel jealous, but the reasons are legit. Being a much older sibling is very hard. I know. The little one knows it too, but it empowers them. My little sister was a good kid, but our father, was very loving and kind, and my mom was about equal parts loving and hurtful toward me. Our father died when I was 15. That left mom with a sad, depressed teenager and all that brings, and a 17-month-old. It was tough for her and for me, but my sister was very cute and spunky, bringing my mom and me joy. By the time I was 18 and my little sister was 4 she told me that she would tell Mom I did something (can't remember what it was, but it wasn't true) and added, "She will believe me and not you." We both knew she was right. I feel a lot of sympathy for Sam and Jr. Even normally good little kids see and know their power. Imagine Meghan!

I actually feel sorry for the Markles. M or H could easily have given them a support person to help them navigate the media attention. Just someone to advise them, not hold their hands but a contact they could talk to about how to handle reporters, which ones were trustworthy, if any, what sort of things they could or should or should not have said. Instead they left them hanging with zero support, supervision or advice. Of course, then they absolutely would have made “ mistakes”, and M would have her justification to “ ice” them. I firmly believe she’s told untruths to H, at least initially, to prevent him from meeting her father. My husband has never met, nor does he wish to meet, my estranged parents, but he has met all my siblings who confirmed my parental abuse. I think Thomas Snr over compensated to his “little Princess “ in a vain but well meaning attempt to make up for the fact that her mother was absent for most of her childhood and early teen years. He admits he created “ the monster”, that is her current attitude and behaviour.

It surprises me that Harry never met Thomas Markle, not just before proposing, but before the wedding. Or - at all! He comes from a big extended family, it would have been very natural for Harry to want to meet him. The only possible reason must be that she had besmirched his character and their relationship and steered him away from meeting her dad. In their engagement interview, Harry says Meghan finally has the family she never had. When did “Princess Pushy” come out? Was it after that interview? If so, I suspect it was that comment that infuriated Meghan’s family and started the strife, not the book. Also, why would she say that? Because it makes her a kindred spirit with Harry. “You have no mum, I have no dad, no family at all…. My family doesn’t understand me. I’ve had to be so strong all on my own” etc. Calculated to play on the protective masculine side, get him to be her rescuer and knight in shining armour. Reminding him of Diana. Highly manipulative. With added extra bonus she doesn’t have to see the family that’s she’s ashamed of anymore, who might (and have!) contradict her version of events. Plus I am sure I read somewhere that when she married Trevitty Trev Trev, she arranged it that none of her family could attend as the distance and venue made it too expensive for them. Thomas senior turned up anyway, and was shocked when Trevor made the same comment in his wedding speech. Namely that it was lovely for Meghan to finally have a family of her own. Where did I see that, anybody remember? Looks like she played the same card with Trevor and Harry 🫣🙀

The elephant in the room that I can’t get past is how the Queen/the Palace/the “Firm” didn’t step in and put the brakes on this relationship by background checking the Markle family and pretty much insisting on a face-to-face meeting with Meghan’s parents before the engagement announcement was even made. I’m a long way from royal, but I’m pretty sure my parents would have held back the cash for any arrangements until they had met my future in-laws. You’d think that would have been the best way to avoid the messy drama. I know that Catherine had been in William’s life long enough for the families to have met well before the wedding. Am I the only one who is puzzled by this?

Oh that was a good one. I agree that the view of the childhood will be different for the two sisters. When there is such a big gap the youngest isnt often aware of the eldest. But I cant help feeling sorry for Samantha because I would think she felt pushed aside by the new baby and add to that fact that as meghan grew and her entitled personality became apparent she must have been a difficult sibling! Was Samantha spoilt the same way though when she was young? That could make it feel worse if all went to a new baby. The family has been shoved in to the limelight - warts and all. I was going to say that any family that was suddenly in the headlines would find it hard but then I thought the Middletons seemed to cope just fine as indeed have Camillas family and the families of the others who have married in to royalty. As for the reason Harry never met Thomas - I believe meghan was behind that so Harry didnt realise he had been spun a load of lies. To this day when things have come out I still think Harry believes meghan over the truth

So not sure what to trust of what Samantha says. I did read somewhere that Thomas sr was young when he had Samantha and was not prepared to be a dad and felt he could have done better so when Meghan came along he was more mature and over indulged MM to make up for it. So Meghan ended up being quite spoiled. The Markles feel like Meghan lied so much about them that she had to cut them off so nobody would be able to find out the truth at the wedding. Although, I can’t imagine me making that kind of money and NOT helping some of my siblings & were my parents alive, I’d help them, too. I said, “…some of my siblings” not because I’m a witch, but because a few already have over a million. Great insight into these books. I haven't read it. I clearly remember at the beginning, when the wedding was announced, on the TV, the whole country being in this joyous mood, it's summer too, all the build up to it. The media obviously cant talk directly to the Royals, or sussex duo. So you go to the closest thing, her family. Doria was protected, brought into the fold, not giving interviews. It was a clear assumption by everyone, that they would be attending. They all spoke highly of Meghan, the close relationship she had with their dad. There came a point of realisation, to the media, and family, that they were not getting invited. And really there was no falling out over the year's, they all just led different lives, in different places. So can you imagine as a family, who would never attend an event like this, under any other circumstance, having that opportunity taken, not because of a rift, but just because they don't want you there. You have to remember, an event like this, or spectacle as Meghan called it, there will have been complete strangers, politicians, people from charities, that having nothing to do with you personally. They'll be family of Harry's, Margaret children, grandchildren, distant cousin's, he has nothing to do with, but they were there. I mean George Clooney, etc were there. So would it have been a hardship to invite them, and some from Doria's side, if anything, to make some number's on Meghan's side. Just think how highly they would have spoken of her since, they would have lived of that event till their end. But then when it doesn't happen, of course the knives come out. Meghan and Harry played it all wrong. So he took some pap pics, he wasn't doing anything illegal, offensive. They've done alot worse since. The Royals still invited them to Christmas, Jubilee, Coronation, etc. But they were clearly on their own agenda, look how that's working out for them.

I haven't read the book but your review sums it all up for me. I think many families have the 'dysfunction', 'second family' scenario. We often compare in our mind to a 'normal' family. What is 'normal'? I feel for the child Meghan but the adult has autonomy to get sorted! I can say that because I did it! It's doable. Childhood trauma is workable, it's complex but we can do it with good support. You can live a quality adult life. Why should a relationship be established when Meghan knew Samantha from the time she was born!!
@thevocalcrone
@thevocalcrone Жыл бұрын
When you talk about 'what happened between June and November to change Megs attitude to her father',, i think it would be interesting to know the state of her relationship with Doria. if Doria had been off the radar for a while and suddenly appears in Megs life (and its not uncommon for children in this kind of parental relationship to love the abuser and turn on the 'good parent'), i wonder if it was that Doria appeared and used her own emotional manipulation and guilt "I loved you baby - daddy was a mean man and stopped me seeing you. its daddys fault i went to jail because of the fraud". (if that is the case of course). followed by "you need to make a choice -you can have me there as your mum OR you can have your Dad but you can't have both of us". Regarding her relationships with Samantha.. well.. children don't always remember their younger years. its the teenage years (when they come from a dysfunctional family) that seem to have the strongest impact. if Samantha was absent at that time, then its normal for a person to not put the same value on the relationship. (Sad fact of life). Its also normal for the older sibling who has been acting in a maternal way to try and influence the younger sibling. I must say - it does sound as though MM may have BPD (which can have traits of narcissism and delusions of grandeur or entitlement when not treated). however, if this is the case she takes BPD to whole new levels of sociopathy. (in fact I'm loathe to link her to BPD because they get a bad rap as it is.. so more likely a co-occurring diagnosis that quite likely includes addiction as well. Either way.. total plonker. In regard to the thanksgiving dinner.. i suspect that this was a manipulation by MM.

Families are made up of all different personalities - many which would never be friends outside the family. But few do the MM trashing of their own relatives to others especially on the global scale. You invite them to the wedding and then go to your own homes.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I have mixed feelings about Samantha. She’s quite insightful about her sister. But when asked about her own daughter, who was raised by someone else, she gets quite defensive. Yes, she may have had good reason to make that difficult decision, but, at the same time, as a therapist, she must be able to understand how it hurt her daughter. Same as how she can’t see that her experience growing up with M is different than M’s because S was so much older. She has a blind spot.

So many reasons, but this is my top two thoights... 1 - Harry was desperate to marry, he wanted what William had ie someone who loved him for himself, and someone to share his royal life with, and be a dad .. 2- He met someone whom he discovered had the same attitude, character, and thought waves as him. That they planned the entire escape to leave Britain, and to make their fame and fortune overseas with everything already agreed upon and planned re: interviews, a book etc........ They could have been famous for the right things, and we in the UK would have cheered them on, but then along came the announcement and showing of the interviews, bad mouthing and disclosing private things about their families, lies and that most patronizing curtsey, and that was the start of their downfall. I think Samantha needs to get her words out there, even though people may not believe her every word. She must be raging inside, and deeply hurt with her sister. H&M can do what they like with their lives, but don't rip your family apart in the process. x

Thanks for this review, this is the kind of book I don't read and won't, thank you for avoiding us suffering by reading it :-) 🙂 I think the whole family is f***ed up, I have seen some moments of the late (last ?) interview of Samantha, Tom & Tom Jr, she seems intelligent but they seem overtaken by this situation, they were not prepared (as the opposite of MM) & they were not equipped to face it. I have some kind of pity for them, it's like they struggled in quicksand.

I have to say, I tried to read Samantha’s book and the poor thing needed a good editor. It was almost unreadable. It was truly all over the place. I used to get paid to edit court documents and audit reports. But it takes a special person to be a good book editor. Although I would have at least made it a little more readable I think. Had I known her predicament, I would have tried to edit it for free.

I just watched a clip from a Ray Darcy interview with Samantha from five years ago. In that interview, Samantha says that despite what the media is saying, Harry did meet Thomas Markle Sr. and asked to marry Meghan. Now they're saying that Mr. Markle Sr. has never met Harry. All of the Markles have had so many different stories and tales that I'm at the point where I really don't trust anything they say or their motives. Thomas Markle Jr. has said some horrendous things about his father before rallying by his side. I think they should have taken up the motto of never complain, never explain.

Sisters are weird. I've had to ask my sisters to help out with mom when I just can't do it all financially anymore (mom also has a pension, but still could use more help). I live in the same state, so they dont see the day to day difficulty). I would get blown off and excuses and denials. Eventually they did step up a bit each, but in the interim we certainly kept in contact lovingly and weren't arguing and never stopped talking or anything. Sisters can disagree on a thing and still not disagree on all things or let it do any real damage to the relationship. I get the frustration Samantha felt. I've been there (except my 2 Sisters are lovely people and do help when they can. None of us are pulling in MM tv show money. Lol)

If you talking about Samatha? My dad does not want me to look after him the whole time. He hate to have me as a "100% babysitter." He is happy having a maid to come to clean his house every two weeks nothing more. He wants to cook himself. To have the sense of independent. My mom passed away years ago. I leave him alone, just talk to talk on some things. We agreed if anything change on him, like real bad health issues, Hospice. Just like with my mom. Men are little more emotional bottled up than women when it comes to health issues. My mom once stated to me as she battled the cancer and lost the battle, she appreciated my concerns, stated" I would love to have my husband take care of me more" which he did. More personal for her. But, however, parents just want to be acknowledged to be recognized as when you say hello. or visit. Not the burdens.

The ILBW would've found another reason to freeze out her dad. I didn't realise that Samantha was behind the dad's photoshoot - wasn't that the one done by the pap who has worked with the ILBW? I always thought the younger sister had set it up to entrap her dad into doing the deed which would give her an excuse to freeze him out. It would've been impossible for her to keep him around or, for that matter, anyone familiar with her actual life history. She has told way too many lies to have him in her life forever risking her cover being blown (even without knowing it). Doria was safe because she was so absent for so long in her daughter's life.

I know my opinions aren't very popular but I can't help feel that Sam, who is an intelligent principled woman, played her hand all wrong. Had she been silent & not criticised her sister all over the media, used the law but remained silent in public, not published a book (that was hyped up but ended up a damp squib), not made a film with her father & brother as a criticism vehicle... then her own lies - yes, of which there were plenty & she's admitted it!...about what transpired between Meghan & her father would not have raised question marks against her. These things matter & will matter when the court case comes into play. I feel for Sam but she's done a good deal to hurt her own case & credibility. By being so vocal publicly she's done much the same as what she claims her sister has done, venting in public. She's been very badly advised throughout.

Don't get me wrong : Meghan is very far from my cup of tea, but listening to your presentation about Samantha's book (and, by the way, thanks for reading it so we don't have to 😉), I get the feeling that this book is Samantha's attempt at looking completely innocent. It finally makes her look a bit slow. When you are at such a high level of learning in the field of sociology and as articulate as Samantha is (and you watch a bit of the News), you must know that no matter how young the voice of the journalist, the experience will be the same as with the other "older" journalists. I think that this family is composed of either very naive/gullible people or celebrity hungry people. Maybe both. The whole thing is just sad.

My older boys were born in 86 and 87. We adopted a daughter in 2001 when she was two. We had our younger boys in 04 and 08. I actually have a grandson who is 70 days younger than my youngest. Same hospital, same doctor and same delivery room. My sons and daughter and daughter and son in law are all very close. They have a family discord channel. They play team video games together. Well the boys do. My grandson and 18 yr old are best friends more than uncle and nephew. He has 3 younger sisters and one more due in about 3 weeks or so. He will come over here to have "estrogen free " weekends. Oldest son l8ves 2 hours away but comes up every 4/6 months. Daughter and sil come up about the same. They are pregnant with 4&5. They have made it a point to be close. Even if its just on the computer or over the phone. My dil is my daughter love her just as much as one of my own. Its that way with my sil. They have only been together 4 years but it didnt long when i saw him look at my daughter with love in his eyes...and i know what a ...well... i know how she can be. Nuture doesn't always win. But as her brain finishes maturing and now being bonus mom and mom to 2 and 2 more on the way she is going to be great. But still they are all trying to be as close as they can. They know family is all you really have. A strong, loving and compassionate family is more important than all the gold that ever could be mined. So i dont let ppl who are siblings but separated by a decade or more off the hook. Nope. Its like any relationship you have to want it. You have to value it. Yes sometimes you have a person that doesn't want it or like meagain is toxic person and you cant be around them. But to just write it off as to big of an age gap. My best friend since middle school was the youngest in her family, the "holy cow we can still do that " baby. Her next sibling was 12 years older. Was it difficult sometimes? Yes but her siblings and her parents wanted it, valued it and fed it. Nope i give no passes on it except like any relationship where there is a toxic person but that not age related.

As an older sister to a much younger sister, same parents 16 yrs apart. Noone in between, your family but not close. Family matters need to be discussed. It's hard to bond with so many yrs between you. The different parenting styles, etc. Anyways, take care and have fun!!! 😎😄😎
