This is the most useful channel I have come across for properly learning Japanese every other channel seems only focused on beginner level learners.

はい、質問があります! I believe I've also heard this か when someone realizes something that they didn't know before, and they say it to themselves. I hear this with a falling intonation on か. Some examples: Someone is riding the train with their friend. They are focused on their conversation and are surprised when the train arrives sooner than they expect: もう着いたか。 Someone checks the weather and is surprised that it is going to rain tomorrow: へえ、明日降るか。 Please let me know if my understanding is correct! 🙇

Hi ! First I’d like to thank you for these videos, your n3 lessons are the only lessons entirely in japanese that I can understand, because you speak very clearly. It really helps that you often rephrase your sentences after saying them !! Also your points are always super well explained ! I have a question about this video : 0:52 here precisely, the english subtitles say that you want to encourage us to use か after non-polite nouns, adjectives or verb forms, but it seems like you’re saying the opposite in japanese. I would trust the japanese sentence more but I’m not sure I understood the it right, so I just want to make sure. 😅

Interesting. I only started using か as a question form because sometimes I get misunderstood by someone who thinks that I am making a statement instead of asking them a question. If there was a key word just like ですか instead of just a tonal inflection (which is difficult to do with deep voice), that would be very helpful.

In my native language 90% of the times YES/NO questions are just plain form with that questionary tone and people do that regardless of their voice type. I am just saying you shouldn't ignore practicing it just because your voice is deep.

So instead of 「だいじょうぶか?」 should I say 「だいじょうぶ?」 with a raising tone at the end of the sentence?

Is the か for asking questions the same as か meaning "or"? It kinda makes sense that you can turn a statement into a question by adding a trailing "or": "You're going to the store or..."
