I purchased a new CT5V and it is a nice car. My car had a MSRP of $64,390. I look at Kelly Blue Book and Trade In Value is $43,350. I traded a 2018 CT6 3.0 TT Platinum and the trade in is $45,725. The CT6 was a much better car. Not happy at all.

My heart skipped a beat as I miss-read the number ‘5’ in CT5 as the letter ‘S’. ‘Yes”, I thought, “Cadillac brought back the CTS/ATS models opening the door for thrilling ‘ V ‘ options. But of coarse all this was in my imagination. The American Brute in a Suit muscle car for testosterone producing youth is just not available anymore from Cadillac in 2020. Bring back the powerful V8s Cadillac 🇺🇸🏁

Great review. Too bad the CT6 is no longer produced. In spite of small sales volume is no excuse to discontinue but understandably the plant is being modified for electrification.

Me too! I'm very disappointed that Cadillac didn't offer the 3.0TT engine in 2020 (as they did in 2019). It's an amazing engine and more economical than the 4.2TT that is nearly $100k. The 3.0TT V6 puts out a lot more HP and is a joy to drive (I own one!) than the 3.6 that is in all the other Ct6 models for 2020.

John Lloyd Clayton I know I think it’s dumb that Cadillac did get rid of the 3.0TT I personally think Cadillac should have got rid of the 3.6 and just made the 3.0TT Standard across all trims and made the Blackwing V8 an option. Also how come the 3.0TT in the CT5 V only makes 355 horsepower when in the CT6 it makes 404?

@@bobbyyy. Totally agree. It's very odd to me as well; the 3.0TT is a Cadillac only engine that was really wonderful. The 3.6 is shared across many platforms and models. And I also don't know why they reduced the horsepower; since it's not even being offered on the Ct6 this year, it's not like they had to worry about "diluting" the flagship.

John Lloyd Clayton With the 3.0TT being a Cadillac exclusive engine and since the engine came out in 2016 I would have figured that engine would have spread to almost all of Cadillac’s models by now! I really don’t understand GM’s management methods! It’s a shame I loved the aggressive sounds the 3.0TT made in the CT6 under hard acceleration.

he's talking about the smallness of the mirrors and I understand that but the caveat is that the rear view mirror is a camera and it sees all across the board so you would probably use that more than you would use those mirrors but I do like the indicator of a car coming up on the side that you might not be able to see in the side mirrors themselves ❤️I've always been a 740i BMW guy but I am looking at a newer model Cadillac CT 6

The CT6 for canada offers both, v6 3.6L standard 2020 and blackwing v8 4.2 L 2020. The 2019 offered 3 L or 3.6L. The 2020 offers the blackwing which this one isn't.

For the CT5, GM downgraded the 3.0TT (LGW) engine from 404 hp to 335 hp for no good reason other than to match the output of European cars. Even the CT5-V has a mere 355 hp. It certainly doesn't cost any less with an identical number of turbos and intercoolers. Is it more responsive down low? Only a tiny bit with the peak torque of 400 lb-ft (in both cases) arrive @ 2,400 rpm instead of 2,500 rpm. -- Advice to GM. STOP COPYING THE EUROPEANS. They suck! Make a 4.6L V6 from the LT2 V8 and it'll make 360 hp and 350 lb-ft (easily). With a quarter as many camshafts, half as many valves, no turbos, no inter coolers, no charge radiator, no secondary water circuit and the enough displacement to run on 3-cylinders during most freeway cruising regiments, it'll be a cheaper, more reliable and equally economical engine. Add a balancer in the oil pan and it'll be plenty refined too -- especially when it'll only be spinning at 1,500 rpm @ 65 mph. When the 15 year old CT5 doesn't break with nothing other than oil changes, that is when you'll get your reputation back.

A perfect car between these two would be the late model XTS, especially in VSport trim. Bigger and better equipped than the CT5, with a 410 hp Cadillac only twin turbo V6. I have a 2014 model, in Platinum trim, and I greatly prefer my XTS to either of these cars. It is spectacular in every way.

Let me say that I had my new ATS in repair 16 times in 8 months, I had the new CTS in 8 times in 2 years, and the Escalade in 52 times in 3 years. Even the CT6 had problems that could not be fixed. So if you buy a Cadillac....may GOD HELP YOU! They are JUNK!
