@@nathanaelcole8466 the V-Sport was a great car, but oddly positioned in the market as it was way more expensive and powerful than its competitors. The CT5-V is a great spiritual successor, though I wish it had a bit more power, ha!
@nathanaelcole84662 жыл бұрын
@@wesleywalls7582 It wasn't really any more expensive than say an S4/S5 or M340i/M550i or C43/E450. The weirdest thing was that the CTS was not quite E Class/5 series size, but bigger than C class/3 series. It had more power than the Audis and Mercs, but not M550i. Also, all of those could be had with AWD, not the case with the proper CTS. It was performance "light" and it fit nicely but GM just failed to market and sell them. $60k for the non premium and $70k for the premium. For what you got over the standard 3.6 CTS, the LF3 engine, magniride, ELSD, upgraded wheels and tires, better brakes, and the Aisin 8 speed (borrowed from Lexus RC/LC cars) it wasn't priced too badly. I went second hand and saved a ton, as depreciation is on par with the Germans lol.
@wesleywalls75822 жыл бұрын
@@nathanaelcole8466 yes it was, by quite a lot. The two V-Sport models were either $60K (base) or $70K (premium) as you note, but that was in 2014 numbers! It was at least $10-15K higher than equivalent S4/340i numbers, though admittedly you got more power. Today's M340i can be had fully loaded for the base price of the V-Sport in 2014. I'm not saying it wasn't worth it, I'm just saying it was in a league of its own, which proved unpopular given the relatively poor sales numbers.
@nathanaelcole84662 жыл бұрын
@@wesleywalls7582 Those numbers also stayed right there through it's run and keep in mind the Germans base was never what you pay because they are so option and package dependent. The Cadillac is more simple and less nickel and dime. There were only a handful of actual options that added cost. You could easily get $75k C43 AMG (I know, my boss drive one) and the actual average price for those cars was right there with the V-Sport. Now that's the C class, a bit smaller. Compare to an E Class and it's much cheaper, but the E-class is a much more appointed car. The 2014 S6 with a TTV8 @ 420 HP started at $74k. Nearly identical size and similarly appointed ($70k VS Premium anyway). The 445 HP 550i started at $68k and was appointed similarly to the VS Premium. I think the problem was Cadillac was shooting for the bigger dogs and they did a hell of a job, but nobody took them seriously on paper and people shopping a sporty 5 series or an S6 weren't really looking at a CTS. Their mistake imo.

I’m most impressed with the CT5-V results. From a spec sheet perspective, I expected it to come in last place in every race. I was very surprised that was not the case. But for me the caddy is perfect everyday driver. It’s fun, nimble, quick and it looks cool. I left BMW after decades of owning them, 335i x2 ,550i x2, because the BMW’S just refused to make serious changes to the platform.
