The LH was developed "*WITH THE HELP*" of the Germans. So in short, the LD is two derivations/generations away from the LH which was CO developed with Mercedes. I compared the e53 amg to my cls550 w218 with the v8 twin turbo, hp is not too far apart but the higher torque in the top end in the 550 is where it shines compared to when I drove the e53. 449 tq vs 384tq. I wonder how the twin turbo 550 would do against the 392. The 50 roll race would be interesting

Interesting race. I have a 2018 Scatpack Challenger with a full magnaflow exhaust (obviously no HP gain there the car just breathes better and I love it in the cold) but my roomate has a stock 2012 E63 AMG Mercedes which is a V8 Biturbo and unless I get a perfect launch he beats me every time. I get ahead and we stay neck and neck for a bit but he slowly moves ahead. When it comes to a roll I can beat him again with a perfect downshift but 8 times out of 10 I’ll be ahead, we get neck and neck, then he slowly pulls ahead. Props to MOPAR and Dodge but It’s honestly awesome what German engineering has done with their cars.

Dodge does not build their car on the same chassis as that Mercedes. The Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 use the old Mercedes from the late 90s.The chassis between those two vehicles is not the same. This was in part due to the fact back in the late 90s early 2000s Diamler Chrysler was one entity.

Wonder if the scat has better tires than stock. 245 r/20 are 9 inches wide , stock equipment from Goodyear. 275/40 r 20 all season from Michelin are a better, bigger and stickier tire. I still have stock all season tires and they are not good at all.

The original LX chassis from 2005 was in fact an all Chrysler design. It was designed to share MB parts like the the rear suspension, steering, A580 5 speed among others and some electronics. It had been revised in 2011 and dubbed LD. There is probably still some minor parts interchangeability, but it's always been very much a Chrysler designed chassis. Other than weight, and loosing AWD from anything Hemi powered when the 8spd debuted, it's still a perfectly fine chassis and still selling well, basically printing money for Stellantis.

Good race! This just shows that E63 would walk on that Charger. There have been 3 versions of the Eclass since The MB/Chrysler merger dissolved. So it's not the same chassis. Even back then it was mostly suspension related overlap. Fun fact, the outgoing Grand Cherokee/Durango are old school MB Mclass chassis.

I wouldn't pay $50k for a car that's been around since 2004. However, I'm glad Chrysler did what they did and fed folks varying versions of the same car. Why would you use track mode for the charger? Track mode removes traction and would hinder a launch. Track mode is for a "track". You need as much traction as possible for a 1/4 mile race.

The dodge and Merc sit far away in chassis now a days - maybe in 2005 to 2010 when they legit mimicked eachother. The current under pinnings of the SRT line is a large derivative of what it was. If that charger had tires, the 392 is gone. That merc is AWD no?

@@jtfixler my stock 6 speed auto passed my friends 2021 Scatpack at 105 mph everytime we raced evenly 😂 he always started ahead and hit the brakes early.
