I raced a focus st one time in my accord v6 and it was awesome race I was definitely gapped from the line, but on the roll is was almost right beside him at his back door . This was also a 2014 RS though I believe. The newer ones with 350 I can’t imagine how much I’d be gapped. Such underrated vehicles.

​@@dylan4972 Too be fair MK8 Golf R is neck and neck with the GT manual to manual. The GR is only 0.4 slower with a good launch. Heck the Ecoboost wouldn't even be far behind the GT if Ford let it. Plus arguably the 4 bangers win there too. The Type-R and GR are two most of the engaging driver's cars on the market. Both cars are laser focused on that aspect.

The GR is peak model for a brand that breathes reliability & economy, Mustang is & always has been about power, the high power NA V8 has a continuous power curve, but the GR & WRX are top of line performers with low end torque grunt, that mustang was slightly middle of the road in its own brand. I’d say all 3 did above their expectations for the league they derive. Great content, I’d say my next ride pick could undoubtedly be one of these, enormous potential in all.

My 2016 focus ST is fast...but off the line or out of a slow corner is where my car simply cant cut it.. The GT here shows that with a good launch and driver, you can have the better part of both worlds. I could always upgrade to an RS but cant justify the cost. Im not a huge fan of the newer WRX's, but this one does look nice the way its modded. Id still prob go for an older 2.5RS with a newer engine/bigger turbo set up if I ever had a Subie in my stable. good content as usual, thanks for sharing!

Would be cool to see them do a track lap in competition. The GRC’s grip with AWD is amazing for about 15 minutes. On a back road I know I’d rather have the GRC but watching the drag race I am surprised it held up as well as it did against almost triple the cylinders.

That shift from 1st to second in the mustang really puts the stang beyond. Yes it makes the difference up in the 1/4 but not by too much .. stang sounds amazing cant be denied . The auto of course is faster as with Most modern cars but I agree , Sam ,miles per fun it's Manual all day for the 95© amount of time you're gonna drive but the auto is no longer a penalty box.. wonders how it would do against manual Supera I think noses at the end of 1/4

I'm a fairly old school Pontiac guy, to be honest, stoplight to stoplight is mostly the goal, not always, but most of the time. We'll run the quarter when we have enough people meet up. Quick Times w tubes at a soft pressure, a bit of gear is usually enough to make sure you leave the other car and put a car length or 2 by around the 60 from a stop. Each time I see a new rwd car sit and get gapped right from the start I cringe on all these videos. These are all new cars, with a street tire etc, understandable, but still cant stop that cringe when the fwd and rwd leaves them spinning trying to play catch up, and shifting like it's an ASMR soft row vid

I predicted the Subaru to beat the mustang by two car lengths in the drag race. I don't see why people hate on the mustang and American cars in general. Just because it's not very quick in stock form, people just call it slow even though it still performs. I see a lot of people saying that you didn't shift the mustang well, so imagine what time it would have got in the quarter mile? I saw a few mustang GTs at a drag strip recently, and they consistently did around 13s. 12.7 seems right for a manual, if the shifts could have been faster, I would say it may have achieved as low as a 12.4. People underrate American cars so much. There is a twin turbo kit that will make your f-150 run 9s on an unprepared surface and people talk about 4 cylinder hot hatches, like the stage 3 Golf-r running high high 10s like its some huge achievement. What do you think would happen if you messed with the mustang? Also, people need to do their research. Stangmode on KZbin ran his 2024 10 speed mustang on a drag strip and ran a 12.4. I don't think Sam's shifting is a problem.

That's not fair. A V8 against a 3 cylander car - boosted or not! That's just bullying. The WRX race...let me launch that GT and it would look totally different. Linelock tire warmup, 3500 RPM launch with advancetrack off, and a decent 60 foot. Surprisingly, my tuned inline 4 turbo Elantra N making 320 whp was almost as quick as my OEM S650 GT making 486 bhp, due to power to weight ratio.
