This thing looks a lot more effective for heating the space then the infrared panels. Clearances and spacing being what they are and all, not sure why you'd mount it to the wall with blocking that hardly changes the angle when you could've just done the ceiling mount orientation at 45 degrees to the corner (so it would really distribute heat out into the room more than just along that wall).

Infrared (radiant) heaters are a much better choice for workshops❗️WHY❓Because they provide instant heat and comfort to the shop worker. Heating the air by a conventional heating element and fan type of unit is more costly to operate + it takes a LOT of time to heat all of the air in the shop. I used a large conventional portable heater in my shop at first. 240 volt 5000 watts. It would take hours to heat the entire shop + I would be working in the cold most of the time😩 Switched over to 2 ceiling mounted radiant heaters made for garage use. 120 volt 1500 watts. One near my workbench and the other elsewhere. In less than 10 minutes I have to turn the one OFF near my workbench because I get too hot. Those 2 radiant heaters use a fraction of the power + I’m perfectly comfortable in just a few minutes. Vast improvement ❗️

This looks like a great little heater. I have the Dyna-Glo 10,000 watt from Menards in my garage and it does wonders at keeping it warm. A little more expensive than this unit but I really like it.

Nice....I should've held out longer before buying mine similar to yours from 3yrs ago. I bought the older model Nov 5th 2023 for $284.14 on Amazon which doesn't come with the ext. thermostat or updated remote. I had just recently took it out of the box and installed it. Mine is in a 12'w X 32' l shed which I am currently insulating. Had been busy with a lot of family members health issues so just got around to installing it. Would've liked to had this one. Hope it works out for you. Keep us updated on it's performance.

I looked at electric but it was just cheaper to go with natural gas heater. Being in the city it was just the right choice for me. I can crank it up and your warm even with the door open!

Sam wouldn’t an inverter heat pump be a better choice? I am in west Texas and have a small shop 700 square feet and I have a Mr Cool diy 24,000 BTU unit it works great and very is efficient. And in TN you could use dehumidification there. 😀🛫

Do you think this would work in a 2 bay 24'x24' garage that is not necessarily as well insulated as your shop? I'd like to work in the garage during the winter in NJ and do some detailing and looking for a good unit to heat up the space. I have a home office in the basement of my house... have lots and lots of inventory, work tables and shelving. Standard space heaters are installed but don't do a good job, as the "heat" stays near the heaters/walls. Would you say this would be a good addition? Or is it too noisy to have in a home-office environment? I would love a split ac/heater, but as it gets well below -15C (at that temperature they are no longer efficient), I am considering other solutions with fans/blowers so the hot/warm air gets moved around. (celling fan is not an option as its a 7-1/2 height and a 20 x 25 room).. I could install it in a corner, above a tv/library nad it happens to be furthest from where I sit/work

With the offgrid power system i think that would be an awesome thing to have,but what about just paying the light bill like normal..i saw with drone shots during ur vids u have solar panels all over for everything...maybe once u can have the $$ to buy that setup,,but to pay that bill every month😱😱sure that would suck...also do u have to keep ur garage a certain temp for the laser and cnc?? I know u have to keep the co2 laser warm all the time cause the tune will break...i just redid my garage and slowly starting a little side hustle,and want either a cnc to learn or a xtool laser...which would u start with??? I have a question I just bought this heater and I’m holding up a 3 prong 30amp dryer cord to it , the wires on the cord aren’t colored so does it matter which one goes to L1 or L2? I know it’s the outside wires just don’t know if it matters , also do I hook the middle wire to the middle screw in between the other 2 wires or to the green screw or just leave it unhooked, thanks for any help

Sam, what is the exact model number of the one that includes the external thermostat? The one in the Home Depot links Q/A says it doesn’t work with an external thermostat and it doesn’t say it’s included. To me that’s the must have feature. Thanks!

Once you pair up the external thermostat, does the unit then use that to determine the temperature setpoint? Like say you had it paired up and put the external thermostat in a cold corner. Would the unit then keep running until that cold corner was warmed up to the desired temperature or is it still based on the unit itself and the temperature of it?

Um - I never understand why people heat the hot air on the roof and leave the cold air on the floor. - my heater is at floor level and when it spews out hot air it causes turbulence (the hot air rising) and you get a warmer room with less energy expended. You can also have a ducted fan to pull cold air up to mix with the hot on the roof or hot air down to mix with the cold on the floor. To see this in action - use incense and follow the smoke...

Why would you want the heater up high? You will just be reheating the air that is already hot. You want it down low where it can pull in the cold air more efficently.
