WOW!! "I was surprised and taken back by your comment about the food in Spain. Spain has long been recognized and appreciated for its exceptional cuisine and diverse wine offerings. The Basque region alone boasts an impressive 13 Michelin star restaurants. Additionally, Galicia is renowned for having some of the best seafood in all of Europe if not the world. The variety and quality of Spanish wines are also worth mentioning. While everyone has their own preferences, it is important not to judge Spanish cuisine solely based on the food encountered along the camino. The camino may offer a limited representation of the vast culinary landscape that Spain has to offer. I encourage you to explore different regions and conduct thorough research before making sweeping statements like 'the food sucks in Spain.' It's worth noting that taste can be subjective and influenced by personal preferences and cultural backgrounds. By embracing a more open-minded approach and delving deeper into the diverse culinary traditions of Spain, you may discover a whole new world of flavors and experiences. Happy exploring!"

Generally liked your Camino de Santiago series but saying Spanish Food sucks is not cool. Especially since most people would disagree. Especially when Spain is currently ranked 6th in the world for Michelin Star'd restaurants. The seafood all along the north coast from the Basque Country to Galicia is considered one of the best. Anyone who's been to San Sebastian can attest to this. The tapas and food in general in Sevilla, Granada, and Cordoba is fantastic. Madrid and Barcelona both offer a fantastic array of restaurants and local eateries that are superb. The best chef award for 2022 went to Dabiz Munoz from Madrid. That said, I'm glad you both had a Buen Camino!!

The saying do it your way, it’s your Camino is a selfish way of thinking about the Camino. It is destroying its legacy. It is becoming a place where tourists go to so to so they can come and say they have done the Camino. Many just spend large amount of money to pay tour companies to book all their accommodations and their belonging only carrying a small pack on their back. Doing it the easy way. It is supposed to be a pilgrimage where you where you learn that life is full of suffering and that you can manage to survive it. Solving your problems with money is not a good of doing your Camino.

Why would you do the Camino in October?! Of course it’s going to be cold. It’s the same latitude as like Canada🤷♀️

Very surprised about the food comment. We've been to Galicia and found small restaurants even out in the boonies that had great delicious fresh and inexpensive food

We were as well! In a lot of the small villages the food options are more limited and we were not the biggest fan after a few weeks of the same food 😅

Question answered: you're walking in October. Next question: at 14:47, what was the name of the restaurant you visted? We're both vegetarians and I'm wondering how easy it is to find these options on the Camino?

I started my Camino in early June 2012 and finished in early August 2012. Like you it was hard some days. I'm glad you are walking the Camino your way. I had a friend go back and walk the path she missed the next year. Each area is so different from the other. My least favorite part of the Camino was the last 100 km. Good on you two.

Walk your own Camino, I couldn't agree more! And if your time is limited, you have to make choices. For me it means doing it in 2 parts. I'll start from my home in Belgium and bike pack to the Pyrenees. And I hope to hike the 2nd part on the Camino Frances. But yeah, you never know, as the weather, it can rain the whole time! 😉 All the best! Kaat

It’s an 800 k pilgrimage that one starts maybe because one does not know what to do in their life. It’s a month out to reassess. When I completed this in 2014 for the first time I was facing into a marriage teetering on the brink. I took the walk to see what was going on. I asked a friend to book a one way ticket and I headed off into the unknown. The Camino provides and my trip, the unknown, not knowing where I was going or staying, the other pilgrims, the albergues, the snoring, putting one foot on front of the other. The pain I brought evaporated over the miles, and was exchanged with other pilgrims. I could write for hours. I’ve been most years since and it’s always different.

8:46 you miss the point of the camino by opting to skip for whatever reason, you start something you finish it. The way is the path we each walk in life, good things happen or bad we keep walking the path we chose. You can't skip life just because it looks like things are gonna be difficult. Other pilgrims will be there who will walk in the rain also every day with you, they are no more special than you. Everyone is going through the same thing
