Look up forensic dentistry. Skeletal measurements can be very reliable in identifying someone. Then, based on that information, a clay artist will use average tissue thickness reference charts for the given race to reconstruct a face. I don't think anyone has done reliably research on reference values for any ethnicity as a sub-division of any race, though.

For those wondering: Forensic dentists and pathologists still do use hard tissue (aka skeletal) measurements to determine someone's race if they can't retrieve any DNA samples from a body. I don't think any reliable reference data exists for ethnicity as a sub-division of race, though.

As such, measurements can not be relied on to determine someones ethnic group, even if the measurement has been shown to be highly correlated to ethnicity, especially when the measurement is of the face, which is highly variable and extremely dependent on environmental factors. This is massively off topic, but I'm fascinated by the fact that "three" and "two" are so similar in English, but "four" is completely different. Different root languages. Four has a Germanic root, two has a Latin one, three could go either way. English isn't a language, it's the kidnapped children of five other languages stacked in one trenchcoat.

Four is actually very similar in Swedish and England. I'm not sure what the comment above is talking abou as two is from proto-germanic "twai" - although it goes back further too, with "duo" (latin and greek for 2) being related by all these languages being descended from Proto Indo European "dwoh". Three is also from Proto Indo European, with both Germanic languages and romance (latin) languages having some form of "three" / "dre" / "tre" / "troi". All very similar. Four in Swedish is "Fyra". Perhaps the "a" at the end makes it sound somewhat different. Just like two and three, it's related to latin Quattro. Doesn't sound like it, but in proto indo european it would have been something like "Kwetor", which became "quatro" (kwot-ro) and something like "kfwedor" in proto germanic. That slowly reduced into simple fedwor > fewor > four. In German it's Veir, and pronounced pretty much the same but with an e sound instead of a o sound. The english number system is actually entirely germanic, although it has similarities to french, spanish and italian because well, ALL european languages (apart from Basque, Estonian, Finnish and Hungarian) were the same language about 6000 years ago.

yes this should be done with respect for the people involved and all voluntary. No the measurements should not be used to prove "superiority/ inferiority." But the measurements are useful for learning about history. By learning these measurements we know what some groups of people looked like back then in various countries. You can hear the doctor call her a lappish, it's a derogatory word for Sami people. Swedish people used to discriminate sami and not let them among swedes, they saw them as lessers, though they were the original tribes of the north.
