It's a little-known fact that Padilla, for whatever reason, forgot his posing trunks at the 1981 O and had to borrow a pair from another competitor, which is why they look perhaps a little too big for him in some shots. Could that have cost him points? Who knows. But he certainly looked phenomenal in 1981 and nobody would have complained if he had won the whole thing.

Padilla is just carved out of marble or rock. His hardness is insane! And Samir from the back is a timeless classic, one of the most top-to-bottom amazing physiques in history! Two "under 200" goats for sure!

Go look at the prize money for the early years, then 80 and 81. They got paid for the work they put in back in the day to make it what it had become IMHO, I was a fan of both arnold and Franco but neither won 80 or 81, the audiences knew it at the time but the boos never made it into the mags controlled by the organizations for some reason.

This is what bodybuilding is supposed to look like...... not the shit that gets paraded on stage today. I'm so sick of the excuses about distended guts as of their stomachs are bulging because they eat a lot. That is beyond stupid. Both these guys have great shoulders and you can see the separation of the three heads in the back double biceps. Modern bodybuilders and physique competitors have so much oil in their arms and delts. It looks like shit. I prefer these guys' legs to most of the legs of current bodybuilders also. Padilla, not Platz, should have won in 1981. 1973 & 1974 Arnold, 1981 Olympia Padilla, 1983 Olympia Bannout, 1990 Olympia Francis Benfatto.... in my opinion those physiques are some of the best to ever be on stage.

@@gustave9744 No, he doesn't. Danny's condition kills Samir. His proportions are better. Look at the separation in his legs!! Look at 1:05!! Geez, Danny is amazing!! He's killing Samir in every pose except back double biceps, and even there it's close!! Danny's condition in 1981, and Francis Benfatto's in 1990 are the 2 best examples of guys absolutely nailing it on the day!! Dorian Yates in 1993 is up there as well! I remember at the time a magazine writer describing Danny's face as that of an "ailing rodent!!" and it certainly is one of the best "death faces" ever. Samir's face in comparison looks like he just ate a whole Christmas Turkey!! Danny's side tricep at 3:40 is one of the best ever. Right up there with Phil Heath and Kevin Levrone!

BDB: same thing as in thr BDB Samir was pretty darn conditioned in 83 as well, look at the christma's tree, the quad separation and the hamstrings from behind: it's not because he does not present a death face that he's not in good conditioning lol the competition might seem close if you know nothing about bodybuilding and is just a blind fan but it's actually not. And Samir, Padilla and Shawn Ray are my all time favorite physiques in bb so no bias towards anyone. From a bodybuilding standpoint, 83, Samir is just better then Padilla and that's a fact.

And Samir does NOT have better legs than Padilla. Padilla's are more deeply separated, proportionately bigger, and his calves from the side kill Samir. Samir is taller! That's it! Open your eyes and look again!! Danny wins!! Read some of the other comments here. Most people are giving it to Danny!!
