“Nostalgia” “Rose tinted glasses” “Queue times” “Nobody likes tank in any game- MMO, MOBA, or OW” “Revealed vs stated preferences” I’m tired of hearing this. There is a large segment of the community that prefers 6v6 and loves playing weaker tanks where you can synergize with your tank partner. We will keep asking for 6v6 until we no longer care about the game. We don’t want to stop people from playing and enjoying 5v5, but if we are told we can’t even have 6v6 in the arcade because it will split queue times, then the 5v5ers are the ones who have turned this into an either or discussion. People will passionately argue for what they believe is the superior format of the game to be reinstated and you can’t blame them. There is a way to make queue times work- it’s called making it fun. Something which Blizzard and 5v5ers seem to believe is impossible. They lack vision/imagination.

Have you played any open queue? I've enjoyed the lower health pools for tanks and having multiple tanks. It feels like it's incredibly underrated and like people aren't really trying it out, but maybe that's just because my rank is too low (gold role queue, plat open queue) to have the proper goats experience.

Because Tanks are actually insanely strong in this game. So strong in fact that you get called for throwing when picking DPS in Open Queue Ranked. Its only Tanks and Healers. It remained mostly negative for forever now, so even new players who tries the game leave a negative review means they had a bad experience with it.

Open queue doesn't solve the problem because the game is so goddamn imbalanced now. You don't get two weak tanks making up for one, you get two (or more) raid boss tanks teaming up and sucking the little fun out of the game. Last time I played open queue it was against a hog and dva and dva was just DMing the hog so he didn't get anti'd or burst down. So freaking lame. This was before last patch too, he literally was THE BEST TANK IN THE GAME. WHY ARE YOU PROTECTING HIM?! 😂

Playing OW2 is like clocking into a job you hate. I played it out of habit for a while but I uninstalled for probably the last time several months ago and haven’t looked back. I still keep up with the game (and its content creators) because it was such a big part of my gaming life during the 2010s (probably my most played game ever), but I’ve made peace with the fact the game will never be good again.

Same. After a break during the end of OW1's life cycle, I tried OW2 in early 2023 and hated it. Took another break, came back in early 2024 because friends wanted to try the game and convinced me to join. Played for a bit, really tried to like it since I wanted to play with my friends, but before long they said they didn't like how imbalanced it felt (tanks as one complaint) and quit, and then after playing a bit more, I admitted defeat as well and uninstalled in season 10. Just can't like it anymore, I'm not warming to 5v5 at all despite giving it many hours and my best attempt to get used to it and like it. This as a dps/supp main. It sucks but I've made my peace with the idea as well that the game will likely never be good again. What a shame.

I played one match since the update. Not buying the battle pass so there's literally no reason to play. Trash maps on repeat, roll or get rolled, even if I carry 50 elims 2 deaths I lose anyhow. Not allowed to equip gold weapons so why even bother playing comp for the green ones. Funny character pressed one button despite me hitting the head. This is all before getting into the politics. Why can't I see how much damage my primary fire deals? I consume OW2 content and didn't even know when the update was available until the console prompt, imagine the casuals who Jared Neuss claims as their target audience. I said years ago the game has a terrible return on investment. Got some lovely games on the back burner deserving attention, respect my time, make me feel good even. Wake me up when Overwatch Classic comes out next Christmas.

When i watch overwatch 1 gameplay, even from the bad meta's, my heart literally hurts because of how much i miss that game. Overwatch 1 was personally ranked as my favorite game of all time; its insane how far overwatch 2 is away from that spot. It isnt even in the top 50. I know overwatch 1 being as good as it was was an accident, but it is absurd how such an amazing game has been absolutely razed to the ground. Played OW alone last night, which I haven't done in months. Usually I q up with at least 2-3 friends if not a full stack and we play Total Mayhem, because despite it's own meta and struggles, we can usually manage to have FUN. I flex q'd for role q QP and got exclusively tank. If I didn't have good healers healing me almost 80% of the time, and my dps weren't killing things, it was miserable. I felt so alone. Not because I was playing solo, but because when I wasn't getting pocketed out of my ass, or cleaning up with a dps, I was the only tank with no one watching my back. I'd go in to try and make space, only for everyone else to split up and deal with something in the backline, or flank, or whatever. And then I'd be all alone trying to backpedal only to die with my team nowhere near me. Every time there was something in the back, I would have to turn around and turn my back to 3-4 enemies to peel for supports or whatever, and stop trying to make space, then once my back is turned to try and help my team instead of make space and push in, I'd get shot in the back and die. It just doesn't work.

Can we also talk about the recent report system regarding text and voice chats? I recently got suspended for abusive chat when I was calling out players who weren't doing their job or feeding. When I got the logs of what I said, the most ridiculous one I saw listed was me joking around with someone with the name Starscream. It was nothing inappropriate, just me jokingly asking them how Megatron was and "closer than second in command then?" Yes swear words were used, but not to insult other players, but it's the fact that now they don't want to allow any swearing in game despite the characters using swears in the in game dialogue. It's ridiculous!

The only reason they made it 5v5 is because of the demand from esports. Esport teams didn’t want to have to sustain a whole nother person. Evidence that backs up my claim is when offtanks on esport teams were getting fired BEFORE overwatch made the announcement ow2 is going 5v5. This shows they had insider meetings(obviously) but also they most likely had a say in the decision. The reason why they’re not so willing to switch back to 6v6 is also esports. There is tons of contracts they’ve already signed and if they have to suddenly make room in their budget to support another person on their team then they will most likely sue lol. I'm not hating the game i love and play, but my issue in OW2 has always been the tanks. in OW1 you have 2 100% capable tanks. now you have 1. how do you compensate? a 133%? 150%? any change is bound to feel overbearing and blizzard is ok with this. ESPICALLY in new releases where i'd say they've gone to 175% on tanks

As soon as I heard they were removing the other tank I said that the issues of ow 1 are just gonna transfer over to ow2. The difference is 5v5 makes the issues highly noticeable and benefits cheaters bc there’s one less tank to deal with them. I knew ow2 was gonna be dog💩 but I didn’t think it would take ppl this LONG to notice. Even flats and Emmong took a year to notice. They should just let us try 6v6, listen to the feedback and adjust the things that need to be fixed. Ow1 was fun, and I play ow2 bc they stole 60 bucks from me and I own every loot box skin. Ow1 won game of the year for a reason. Ow1 was abandoned and that’s why it felt bad✨

apart from gameplay, the comics, animated shorts, and hero release teases gave me the thrills in early OW, like ANA tease in game hints and clues was so good! sombra too.. its not there anymore.

For those who are unaware, the 5 Stages of Grief are: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and lastly, Acceptance. Most OW players are in stage 1-4 and these feeling proliferate across the community because 95% of the OW content out there is inherently negative. The game is dead, and OW content creators have nothing else to talk about, so they just spew the same negative crap across the board. The only change we can realistically make happen is a change of heart. Instead of worrying about what could have been, or the way things should be, just ask yourself: Do I enjoy playing overwatch? If yes, then great, continue to play and don't be toxic. If no, then simply find another game

I feel if the best way to save overwatch is to change it to a 1-3-1 meta and buff the supports. This way it will make it so it doesn’t feel like everything is unkillable and the dps has more of a chance to pop off. This is coming from a support main btw.

Not gonna lie, last week I had a glitch when playing where the server closed after each team had a sixth teammate join (server got closed literally as soon as they joined the game so nothing came of it) and I got so excited cause I thought maybe they were pushing a quick play hacked with 6v6 but then as the game restarted it went back to 5v5.

I’ve been saying this since people were whining about GOATS comp, that being, if double shield is such a nuisance to players, then either increase damage dealt to shield by DPS, or just make it so one tank can shield and the other has to play an enabler tank like Zarya. Like we didn’t have to up root everything. People stopped playing because of that, and it could’ve been a small update from the devs, but instead OW was left as it was for years, no updates. Then Blizzard got pissy and promised new big changes and the game is even more stale than it was. And it’s literally, solely because, Blizzard doesn’t listen to the actual players. They just attach a beer bong to their asses and sniff, or ask Flats, what he thinks they should do. And I love the guy, but he gives advice that keeps him “notable” or whatever. Like Holy shit. We had a game, a beloved and extremely popular game from 2016-2018. It needed a little polishing, but instead the devs just went fucking nuts with “tweaks” and “rebalances” and then the whole dev shift from SH/SA. Every update was worse and worse after 2018ish, then they stopped updating altogether. Then Blizzard trued figuring out how to monetize a beaten community and gave false promises. Now we have this. This abomination of too much health, damage and healing, with the exact same strat over and over again with no ability to solo carry.

Its not just nostalgia because Im new to overwatch as of season 2 OW2 And even I want to see 6v6 so bad. It's just true that balancing this game as a 5v5 isnt going to work. Got really invested and spent a lot of time learning this game over the last year just to be disappointed now that I see the balance is trash and BS abilities get a million times more value.
