I never head of Sammi until this morning. Heard her sing Help Me Make It Through The Night. Spent the nite listening to her. OMG what a voice. Sad to see she is gone but her legacy lives on.

I can't believe this song exists - It's so exceptionally beautiful, telling the story of a fantastic transcontinental womanhood. Memories expressed with dignity and nostalgia, with melancholy and longing. I am in her atmosphere as I listen, meeting and becoming the mystical maiden turned small time wino, holding back tears, drinking her own signature cocktail, grey mullet gleaming, eyes sparkling, talent bursting through the skin and smoke.
