One of the main problems I've had between the 23 Ultra and 24 Ultra is taking pictures of the moon. The 23 Ultra was way more amazing at this and captured details of the moon where as the 24 Ultra is blurry and washed out.

agreed, excluding moon shots really, 30x zoom is now more shyte than on the s23 ultra. S23 Ultras 30x zoom shots are not very clear but good enough even for sharing, the 30x on the s24u just doesnt produce good enough image for me ,its like oil painting, I already had the s23u for a year and I know how thw 30x zoom performs really, at best, they dont look like oil painting quality on the s23U

OMG, the feature you showed around 12:20 just totally sold me on S24 Ultra. I've been shooting my son's football matches on a pretty old tiny Sony Ultrazoom camera which isn't really great at anything apart from 30x Ultrazoom which allows me to shoot close-ups of the player with the ball. But, as a fellow football-shooter, I'm sure you know, a situation can change quickly and you can miss some good moments if you zoom in too closely. With 'dual recording' mode all I need is just a big enough memory card and I think I'll be able to shoot much better football footage and miss much less as I can shoot multiple perspectives at the same time. Just like you said 'genius'! Now I really feel that the price tag on this device for me personally is justified. All the AI stuff for me personally is more of a gimmick or nice-to-have but this is really a significant advantage. Thanks for the video. Just a quick question, what is the highest frame rate I can shoot with S24 Ultra in dual recording mode? I don't mind Full-HD as long as I can have at least 60 fps, as I like to use slow-mo in post-production when editing football footage.

Note 9 and S9 Series are the lastest non Z series that have clean display. My fav Samsung series are S7 Edge/Note FE, then S9/Note 9. Hate the trend, but i need the newest chipset to play some game well it's kinda heavy for me to upgrade, from S9 Plus to OnePlus 7 Pro and now S23 Ultra. But still keep S9Plus and OnePlus 7 Pro, both were the best back then, the design wont get obselete over years. Luckily i have Tab S9 to heal me seeing this hole thing. Also i miss the iris scanner. Samsung used to be trendsetter. Damn. 🤣😂 One thing i wonder, why does newest phone doesnt have OIS enabled when recording video, S9Plus have OIS enabled when you're into video record, not EIS. Does anyone feel the same?

Big thanks for this excellent comparison, very helpful. I'm upgrading from a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro (a stunning phone for the price) to one of these two Ultra models. While I could afford the S24, my 'bang for buck' head is screaming to get the S23 Ultra instead. I can pick a new one up for half the price of the S24. It all depends on where you're starting off from, and I have looked at other manufacturers until my head got sore, but in my situation I think the S23 version would be a sensible choice...between the two models.

Well, my S23U took a spill off of my nightstand. Did not think anything of it, until the morning. The right long side curved screen cracked and created hairline fractures across the screen. This is with a case and screen protector. Now, I'm not saying that the flat screen will be indestructible or something, but it should not have the weakness of the curve. I was overall very happy with my S23U and had not intended to upgrade this year. Especially with the 6.1 uodate that brought a lot of features to the 23. Also, many video comparisons to the 23U and 10x optical zoom has this camera outshining the 24U and 5x. That was apparently before the march uodate. Thank you for your review. In just about every situation I liked the 24U pics and videos better! I now understand the move by Samsung better and the versatility of the 24U. I am now super excited to get this phone. Thank you for your review. P.S. Samsung is still wheeling and dealing. I will get $550 for the trade-in and another 20% for the student /parent discount. Not something I was planning on doing, but hey, that's the way things go sometimes. Just in time for the summer shots. Can't wait to use the 5x telephoto. Looks amazing.

I'm curious to see your camera settings (in addition to the other reviewers). I would like to also see some "normal" photos from indoor, low light scenarios, like sitting in the living room taking pictures of your kids and pets. I'm a pre release buyer and I've swapped my phone due to the zoom issues. Couple of things: either there's a bad batch of phones out there; the camera software has changed (after release) or we all don't know how to use the phone. Im gonna say the later is NOT the case.

@capitalcitybricks To be honest, I shoot at x0.6, x1, x3 and x5. They are prime lenses, not optical zoom lenses. I rarely bother with digital zoom because all it does is to crop the image from the prime lenses. I prefer to do my cropping myself while editing the image. However, if one is shooting in 'Photo' mode and elects to zoom across the entire range from x0.6 to x100, the lens changes will be visible at x1, x3 & x5. This is because the lenses have different aperture sizes. The UW (x0.6) lens has an aperture of f/2.2, the W(x1) is f/1.7, the T (x3) is f/2.4 while the ST (x5) is f/3.4. Those lenses also have different sensors of different sizes - 12MP, 200MP, 10MP, & 50 MP. So, the noticeable lens changes are normal.

Optical zoom flattens the perspective in an image so that the foreground and background appear much closer together. This enables you to get some very effective shots when you want to bring these elements together. A digital zoom does not do this as it magnifies everything equally. Having said that I don't see that difference in your examples. Is the digital zoom coded to work (look like) an optical zoom?

So my next us gonna be in 2028ish S28 ultra if any With a huge jump in performance (hopefully) The next couple of years won't be a drastic change from the S23 Ultra cause the 24 ultra is gonna be supported for 7+1 years. Therefore just incremental updates. Not must have's or life changing as such. But, a performance jump in the next 5 years cumulative is gonna be huge I guess

There's is no real change in a day to day usages or performence after both Feb and March update....almost same camera updates is said to be as 'done' and no big changes practically . No substantial benefit in upgrading to 24ultra from 23ultra...I have used all phones from note 10 to 24 all flagships..from 22, 23 and 24 and mearly same with no big change for a normal user..infact in first 3- 4 months of new flagship, camera is like a downgrade ( I also doubt whether the previous flagship camerea is downgraded to show the new one as ' improved one' for this change) except something like 5x portrait and hear and there...Samsung should really consider this and care for thier flagship users...otherwise it can cause a permanent consumer- fall for them ( I have been never an iphone user or Apple fan too)

@SamMobileTV I've got the update on my S24 Ultra, and there's still no shutter lag issue. I suspect what many refer to as a shutter lag is when the camera is abandoned completely to its own devices with a setting that prevents shutter release until the camera has achieved focus. If instead you set it to shoot as soon as you press the shutter button, and then focus first by tapping where you want sharpest; when you press the shutter button, the shutter release is instantaneous. This is the standard workflow for serious photographers.

@maxgood5824 My S24 Ultra takes excellent images of moving subjects. Those having problems with moving subjects are probably shooting in the wrong mode with the wrong settings. As a result their focus is probably off and their shutter speeds are too low to freeze the action. With moving subjects, you need to go to 'Pro' mode. Leave the ISO in Automatic, and select a shutter speed high enough to freeze action. If your subject is walking slowly, a shutter speed of 1/60 might suffice. A running subject might need 1/250 or 1/500 while a racing car might need 1/1000 or higher. Then you need to go to 'Camera settings' and set 'Tracking auto-focus' on. To shoot, you need to, first of all, focus by tapping the subject on your screen; then as you follow the subject, the camera will track your subject and keep it in sharp focus. You can then gently press the shutter button to take the picture. Follow these steps, and you can freeze even a speeding racing car and generate impeccable pictures.

I very rarely comment on videos, but I must say that you are by far the most objective person in terms of showing the difference between the top phones from Samsung. In the end, I agree it is mostly a matter of preference and a developing technique when it comes to those two phones (S23 Ultra - S24 Ultra). I came from the Note 20 Ultra and bought this year's S24 Ultra, and I'm very satisfied. I enjoy this high-end tech, but I would say the same if I had gone with the S23 Ultra.

Samsung s23 ultra camera was working perfectly fine untill i installed July's security patch.i cant even believe its same phone. Especially zoom lens and video results portrait video everything is mediocre. Now result sometime are worsens than my 2ndry poco x3 pro . You have to disabled auto lens switching in s23 ultra inside camera assistant in night extended zoom and that will make it the best extended zoom canera in the world as of now If you dont do that the 10x to 30x range in night photos tends to look blurred because it is not using 10x it is cropping from 1x or 3x ....i disabled it and now my s23u is significantly better in 10x lowlight when compared to s24 ultra ...I was doing a 3 way comparison with x100pro in low light zoom ...s23ultra when held steady could sometimes beat even the x100 pro (because x100pro has aggressive noise reduction and can sometimes remove the details along with the noise in favor of much clearer picture in night ) But s24 ultra at 10x simply could not match vivox100 pro ..s23 ultra sometimes gave better details than the x100 pro albeit with a little more noise .... X100pro was very clean ...noise reduction in post processing is huge in x100 pro ...it even tries to recreate textures ...thst v3 chip is the key i guess. I guess s23ultra is the only phone that can beat x100pro sometimes in 10x to 30x low light conditions...even the xiomi 14 ultra falls short in lowlight extended zoom scenario I am waiting for samsung to have the zeiss anti glare coating on all lenses ...get back the 10x lens after they put a triple 200mp sensors across 3x 10x and 1x that would make it the undisputed king of the zoom photography world...it clearly has the technology to do this ...

S25 ultra will be the real deal because: 1- variable zoom with 50 MP allows all great zoom from 3x to 10x. 2- variable zoom reduces the number of lenses to 3 which looks much cleaner. 4- 50 MP UW along with everything else 50 MP or higher marks the true parity of all lenses, allowing 8K30 in all lenses.

@@TheLakers001 just because the 24 lineup has one ui 6.1 doesn't mean it won't come out to older phones like the s23 lineup, and it's early to say but samsung will most likely add more ai features with future updates so yes expect an update for older generation not all but some

It depends on what you need! If your S21 Ultra is still serving your needs, then hold on to it. But if you see some stuff from the S24 Ultra you like, then now is a great time to consider it!

The 25 Ultra will sport a whole new design, and be an improvement over the 24 Ultra in every way. That said, it won't be introduced until late January 2025. If you go for the 24, you will love the thing for sure, as it is a great device. You have a testing choice to make, albeit a nice one!..😂👍

NO the new S25 5X is NOT better than the S23 10x. I had both for three days and sent the S24 back and keeping the S23. If I could post photos I would give an example of a bald eagle sitting on a power pole and the s23 is by far the clearest and best photo of the two. Also, the AI features on the S24 have too many bugs and working with Samsung tech a few times, the bugs and the 5x vs. the 10x had me return the S24. Honestly, the camera was the deciding factor with the addition of it to the bugs. not sure I would have returned it solely on the camera not being as good since in reality, I do not take long shots that often. But add it to the bugs and the pain in the rear system to get to tech support at Samsung and it was enough to send back. I'll remain with the S23U and look carefully at the new Pixel 9 and if that does not do what I need, I'll give the S25 some serious consideration. But who knows....

That is if you have not disabled auto lens switching in s23 ultra inside camera assistant....it looks blurred because it is not using 10x it is cropping from 1x or 3x ....i disabled it and now my s23u is significantly better in 10x lowlight when compared to s24 ultra ...I was doing a 3 way comparison with x100pro in low light zoom ...s23ultra when held steady could sometimes beat even the x100 pro (because x100pro has aggressive noise reduction and can sometimes remove the details in favor of clearer picture in night ) But s24 ultra at 10x simply could not match vivox100 pro ..s23 ultra sometimes gave better details albeit with a little more noise .... I guess s23ultra is the only phone that can beat x100pro sometimes in 10x to 30x low light conditions...even the xiomi 14 ultra falls short in lowlight extended zoom scenario

The new update is still crap. Mishandling the sensors by still using the 200MP one for x5 zoom instead of the 50MP! Some better color accuracy and exposure in low light comparing the 12MP and 50MP size shots. For such an expensive phone, Apple does much, much better! God knows when they will bring the real RAW format not the mess they offer now. Shamesung!

Just sent Samsung s24 ultra back as they have a phone signal problem, galaxy note 20 ultra worked fine but s24 ultra doesn't receive phone signal despite living a 5m walk from the phone mast s24 receives 131dBm note 20 receive 90-102dBm s24 are crap
