I wish morons would read Edward Van Halen interviews with guitar magazine journalists . Edward never gave specifics about exactly what happened between himself and Captain Candyass MAINLY BECAUSE ITS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS . What he did say is Ray witnessed Hagar bossing Edward around . Then Ray asked how long this giving orders 🐂💩 started . If you you at the Howard Stern's Van Halen video compilation you will see 2 video clips from later on in the Hagar era where Candyass started acting like a boss say first " This is MY band . " and the next one he says " Lead singer of the band , leader of the band what's the difference ? " It was around this time when Hagar started acting like an ungrateful little prick . When he started with the band Edward worked on a bass to play with Hagar on the soundtrack of that POS movie Over The Top . Hagar repaid Edward by being a diva and told Ed he didn't want to do the Twister soundtrack . That's when Hagar found out he wasn't the band leader . Whatever happened between the brothers and Hagar wasn't just something petty , asinine and juvenile such as just pure jealousy like he blames in his POS book RED . He said and did something to Edward that really pissed Edward off . We will find out in Alex's book . The brothers never told anybody what really happened because it's really bad manners and it's really none of your fukkin business either way . REAL men don't bitch and moan like little bitches like Captain Candyass . They never stooped as low as Candyass when he crucified them for selling songs for TV commercials . Alex and Edward never publicly fought back and replied to Captain Candyass by asking him how much Konami paid him for using his Can't Drive 55 song . Go look on KZbin for the Ridge Racer 4 TV commercial . They DO use his song for the commercial AND Captain Candyass never mentioned this in his POS book RED while he bitches about the brothers selling their songs . And there was never any conspiracy to get rid of him . Warner Bros DEMANDED the greatest hits album . Candyass just makes up lies and excuses to not wanting to do the greatest hits album . End of story .

Well, Ray Daniels came into the picture by default because manager Ed Leffner died ....This earlier manager was much more on Sammy's side & encouraged a band atmosphere of 'All for one & one for All' ....But when Ray Daniels took over it seemed to shift to 'Who is the 'LEADER' of the band ? ...Eddie or Sammy' ?

I feel if Eddie and Sammy would have buried their gigantic egos they could have lasted a few more years. I didn't think Balance was a failure. Didn't it go multi platinum? I saw that tour and it was packed to the rafters. I'm not buying that nonsense. I think Sammy wanted to run that band and it was called Van Halen and he didn't like that Eddie and Alex were always going to call the shots.

Maybe you ought to look for the truth to any of Hagar's claims and his 🐂💩 . I've read his book that's supposed to be about him . Even the most casual of observers can clearly see that Sammy’s success has carried on right up to the present day while everything Van Halen did thereafter was a trainwreck. Anyone who thinks that their subsequent tours with Dave were anything like the glory days of the mighty Van Halen is sadly mistaken. Shame really, but the Van Halen brothers were not businessmen and it showed. Sammy has said right out that Dave ran the band before he came along and filled an obvious void.

More Hagar 🐂💩 . Hagar lost most of HIS fans since he quit . His Voice Of America went multi-platinum . Now Hagar is lucky if he can get a gold in record sales . I see no reason to buy any of his music anymore . And right now he's doing what he claims what the brothers of doing which is doing this for making money . Hagar is doing a cheap cash-grab FAKE elevator music TRIBUTE to Edward .

In Sammy's defense on running the band. Sam did the same job Dave did. They handled most press, the stage production, and show. Ed and Alex were all music and sound.

When you start playing with a band it's all about fun making music. Everyone just can't do it , no matter how much you try. As you progress money becomes a factor. We just split it evenly, it was simple. Then girls, drugs, alcohol, afternight parties. Then members want to start playing with different sounds. Rock, metal, country, blues, etc... This was my experience that eventually ended the fun, which was the whole reason you played to begin with. Bass player died from alcohol abuse, guitarist and vocals changed from work related concerns. I always worked to put monies into the band . Enjoyed practice and loved it. Its not easy playing in a rock n roll band, and it's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll....

Daniels stoking Alex's business aggravations was the catalyst. I saw VH in concert & it was: Play the title tour song & top 2 or 3 tracks of the new album, play the past VH hits ONLY ALLOWED (by mgmt. standards), each member do a "solo thing" & all 4 leave the stage. Alex was obviously NOT "into it" & Ed was unfortunately a tad "sauced" (but STILL gave a stellar performance"🎶🎸), Mike was just a walking billboard for his "brand" & Sammy was wanting to do what Sammy wants to do. All 4 are great in their own right & were great together...when at their best (which I did NOT get to witness)...but the balance of ego, the music & the business often has a HUGE imbalance. As a musician myself, I know this...on some level...& it's sad, but true🎶🤔

Managers with weak personalities often do things like that to strengthening their own power over bands. If they find someone in the band they can influence, they do. As dumb as it is to poison the spirit of a band, they do it anyway, because they are only able to think selfish. I have experienced this my whole life as a musician myself. So I tend to believe Samy here fully.

I think everything that happened in VH happened because of the two guys the band was named after. Especially Eddie, but Alex as well. And I’m not trashing them either. “Creative differences” is sort of a rock platitude these days but Dave and Sammy were moves that happened because of intense disagreements on the creative direction of the band. In both cases, and three separate times the VH bros elected to change that front man position. Every single time the decision led to massive sales, huge tour revenues, and praise for the band from all quarters.

And he did a better job . Dave got the band to do those dance moves in the Hot For Teacher music video . He and director Pete Angelus helped make 1984 THE year of Van Halen . Van Halen "OWNED" the British Castle Donnington concert fest that year because of Dave . Van Halen with Sam they just played concerts . With Dave they had great shows .

To be truthfully honest I think Ray had a lot to do with it because when you bring an outsider in to a group of musicians who work hard to record their music and put out records and tour the world that's how that's how they make their living for bringing a man like Ray Daniels into the group and this guy wants to start all kinds of ruckus I would say you know what he was the one that broke Van Halen up in the first place because when you whisper into someone's ear that means you're come looking for trouble and he is definitely one of them .

I started listening to Van Halen with the first album and tour. It was fresh different and energetic. I had also listened to Sammy before joining them. He was ok. When they replaced David with Sammy. I didn’t see Sammy in the type of music Van Halen played. I didn’t like the music that came out after that. And I quit listening to Van Halen. I still listen to the original music. But not anything with Sammy. It just doesn’t catch my attention. As musicians Eddie, Alex and Michael were a perfect match. But Sammy just wasn’t in the same level.

The whole story as I see it from what I know and can put together from interviews and inuendo and being a fan. Money was never and issue with VH. Money split four ways when Dave was in the band. Sammy wrote lyrics so Leffler had the songs under copy write and Eddie and Sammy as the wrote all the music and lyrics. How the money was split on tour I don't know. Daniels working with Rush where its and equal partnership and knowing the deal with the old VH doesn't like this new deal. Eddie feels it's not right that Alex is cut out or Alex doesn't like it and there you go. I think Sammy gave up all VH copyright in return for the Cabo Wabo logo and rights. Whatever really happened both bands were great. Sammy made VH a 100 times better. Dave broke Vai and Sheehan and both those guys went on to make more music and promote the arts in ways that I think they can be proud of. VH with Hagar had hit after hit after hit and I loved it all. People fight and fall out of love but these guys did it in public. I'll remember the music and the good times and memories they gave me. Life is too short.

This guy did what Paul Prenter did to Queen and Freddie Mercury. It was an attempted power grab plain and simple to improve his position and eventual financial situation.. He saw Eddie as a vehicle. to manipulate and gain power through eventual trust. Mike wasn’t as influential and he wouldn’t dare try with Alex. Drive the wedge between Sammy and Eddie and gain the latter trust and you can manipulate things to your advantage down the line. And of course, make more money potentially. We have a nickname for people like that in Jersey City; scumbags.
