It did in later years . . Upon its initial release it did get some airplay but with bands like Deep Purple , Led Zeppelin , The Doobies , Uriah Heep etc this album got a bit lost in the shuffle at the time which was 1973 . Today some 50 years later magazines like Kerrang , Metal Edge and Rolling Stone all have this LP at the top of their all time great list . I would also like to mention that even though the follow up , Paper Money , sold well , it was nowhere near the great album the debut was and by the time 1976 came around bands like Frampton , Kiss , Zeppelin and many other hard rock acts ( including Heart ) we’re all over the airwaves . So short response is yes it finally gets the credit and recognition it deserves it just took some extra time , as in decades lol

Bands like Montrose, UFO and Y&T, are all in my book, the kinds of bands that are timeless. They're in a different class than the "superbands" of their day. IMHO they're better - They all had top-notch musicians and vocalists - they put out multiple albums that you could listen to end-to-end and never get tired of, and they innovative in a different way than those other bands. Sweet. This is the first band I saw live, right at about the time of this video. It was at Winterland, San Francisco. I was fourteen, and a few of my 8th grade friends got one of the dads to drive us out to the city. I don't know why any of our parents consented. We had a blast, though, in awe that we were in Winterland, and finally getting to experience a real rock show! And Montrose was so heavy. What a great, tight band. That first album was a masterpiece of hard rock. Just what young teenage boys thrive on.

Seen Sammy Hagar open for Boston at the Capitol Centre in Largo, MD. in '78,. and let Me just say,.. Sammy BLEW THE FRIGGIN' DOORS!!! off the Cap Centre that night with all their song from the Montrose years. Then,. Boston comes on sounding like someone put on their Album lol. No Dis against them,. to their credit,. they were simply wrapped that tight..... BUT!!,... Did I mention?,. that by then,.. Sammy Hagar had already,.. BLEW THE FRIGGIN' DOORS off the Cap Centre. LOL xD That was My first Concert at 14 years old. Had already been listening to Montrose, who I still to this day believe were before their time in their sound and style. And on that night,.. Sammy Hagar did NOT disappoint. Boston rocked too,. Great show!.. but was hard to compare the two,.. But the sheer ENERGY Hagar had already blasted the venue with by then,.. left a high bar for Boston to hurdle. LOL

For anyone who might be curious, the guitar Ronnie is playing on Space Station #5 is a custom instrument built by John Veleno. Its neck and body are two pieces of solid aluminum! But the coolest part is that some of Veleno's guitars had Theremins built into them. This is how Ronnie is getting all those insane spacey sounds!

I think your only part correct. I can definitely see him controlling that bar like a Theremin but that increasing sound after he sets the guitar down might have been done with an Echoplex tape delay unit. Tommy Bolin was a huge fan of his Echoplex and you can hear almost the exact same type of sound featured on a song he wrote while with the James Gang called Standing In The Rain.
