I mean, people still ask McCartney about his days with the Beatles. Hagar's time with Van Halen was a huge part of his career and shaped where he is today. There's a decent chance that his legacy would have been less colorful without that chapter. A lot of super-talented 80's vocalists have disappeared after their career stalled for one reason or another.

Sublime ? The band's first album and their 1984 album outsold the whole Van Hagar albums combined . None of the Van Hagar albums came close to those two albums alone .

Sammy most likely wanted more money than Eddie was willing to part with. Sammy's a shrewd businessman, let's not forget.

Well in his book he did say one point of contention with the Van Halen brothers was Alex getting a third of the song writing credit when he didn't contribute to it. He and Ed should have been splitting the royalties 50/50.
