Ah! "I'll Take the Blame" was the first piece of backup that I worked out the old-fashioned way, slowing down the recording and piecing it together note for note. The LRB's album "Old Country Town" was released in 1994, when I was just starting, and that was how it was done then, pre-youtube and pre-Eli! At that time, all I had to guide me was the old Scruggs book and Pete Wernick's book. But I pieced it together from a combination of those books, my ears, and hours of hard listening. About a year later, I discovered the Acutab books, which had the breaks all nicely tabbed out, and I was chuffed to find out that I'd been correct most of the time. And you're right - it taught me loads about my I, IV and Vs, and how to re-visualize the fretboard when capoed up at B. Great backup, and great breaks as well. Also the same for the title track of the album. Great stuff!

Awesome video, Eli! How in the world do you keep your banjos so pristine almost unused looking? Thanks for sharing!
