I have talked to the claw game owner before and you basically have to spend a certain amount of money before the claw will actually close. I think it was around 100 NT. The trick is to watch someone play for awhile and then jump in after they leave. :)

the crane games are supposed to be played on "the drop". Meaning you are supposed to anticipate the drop and drop it in a way that makes it bounce into the collector. For example, deliberately picking a prize up by the end, that way when it falls, it will bounce (hopefully) into the collector. It takes some skill, but many foreigners think it's supposed to be a simple grab and go, and thus, they complain when the crane hands open up like it's supposed to. Yes, after a certain number of plays, the crane gives you a hard grab, which is supposed to be the pity round for people who brute force the game. Have fun in Taiwan, it's a lovely country. People usually eat the stinky tofu together with the pickled veggies, gives it a coleslaw kind of crunch. Cheers!

There are some techniques for the claw machines in Taiwan. Every machine is a little different, so you need to observe which direction the claw swings when it let go and then make a pile so when the target falls, the pile bumps it off… it’s really not for people who don’t play it often.

When Amy and I lived in Seattle we had two Din Tai Fungs within 1/2 hour away. Ssooo good! Tip- eat in the bar, less wait time typically. We went to the Bellevue and U-district locations. Also, we used Airalo in S. Africa last year- it was excellent!

As for the claw machine, its claws are actually loose and only clamp after a certain number of times to ensure you get the prize. However, it can also be obtained through falling pinch objects, rolling or hitting the prize next to the hole. Hi S&T, we just returned from Taiwan, my Motherland. You're so lucky to wait for only 30mins at Din Tai Fung. Our first try at a different location was 2.5-3.0 hours wait on a Friday 5:30pm, so we went elsewhere. Our second try at the same location was better and waited for only 20mins @ 2pm on a Monday afternoon. Hope you enjoyed the food there as much as we did!!!!

Roahe may not be the biggest or most impressive street market in Taipei, but it was easily my favourite. Plenty of variety but easy to navigate because it all was on one pedestrian street.

Claw machine are all the same across the world. It works like a slot machine. It's programmed to only grab strong after certain# of failures. Otherwise it's a weak grip and item will likely fall when the claw goes back up. If you want to win, watch which machine has been stingy with the winners or who's been losing a bunch at a machine and gave up, then take over. Then again, like Sammy said, it's a $1

I really wonder about stinky tofu as my daughter best friend is from China keeps saying that the one thing she misses most about her home city / country of Shanghai China Anyway Tommy I m the same my smell sensitivity is so overwhelming that I will know straight away if I’d like it even without trying! Bizarrely I’m not so bored with the stinky smell of cheeses but apparently the brain becomes addictive to cheese and it makes over pass the bad odour that should put you off. I’d want to try but unsure I would! Brave Tommy I just hope my reaction will be Sammy though as I love Tofu Anyway have fun Sabrina🇫🇷🇬🇧
