I thought that with the first movie too. Zackery Levi is going too much into the kid mentality. While Asher Angel was way more mature. Definitely does feel like two different characters

This complaint has been with the CHARACTER since the 1940’s. Billy and Cap talked about each other like they were different people. In the 1980’s writer Roy Thomas made it clear they were the same person. Movies have fixed many of the silly comic book tropes (secret identities, awkward costumes, etc) but Billy’s split personality was not fixable. It’s part of who he is.

I agree@@calebstephan2083. It’s more exaggerated in these movies. Justice League:War has Shazam doing similar ‘kid stuff’. So we have seen immature Cap on screen before. Yes Zachary Levi overplayed it. But Billy acting mature while Cap being ‘kid-ish’ IS consistent with this character.

I'm sorry, have to disagree, it's perfectly shown how the two of them are the exact same when Superhero Billy says he needs to take care of a hostage situation and it cuts to Billy playing a shooting game with Eugene For the little screentime that Asher had as Billy, Billy and Older Billy was acting the exact same, in all the serious moments, Zachary acted like Asher, like when he's talking with Mary 'They're not gonna kick me out, they didn't kick you out!'

Yup. The kid shouldve loosened up and been more jokey. Levi shouldve been more serious and mature , at least in a few scenes. Try to blend the personalities at least.

This exactly! I just saw this movie today and I walked out after about an hour. I could not take anymore of the juvenile, ridiculously childish way that Shazam was being portrayed by Zachary Levi. I don't blame him, I'm sure he did exactly what the director and the writers wanted, but it's as if they think we're too stupid to realize that the actual teen is acting more mature than the superhero. I'm sure I'll see this when it comes on cable but I am really pissed that I wasted my money and my time going to the theater to see this
