Taurasi’s comment not only felt weird for the moment but also misguided. We recently saw Emmanuel Acho face criticism for suggesting Reese’s personality invited negativity, even though the media, not her peers, labeled her the villain. Taurasi’s “wave bye-bye to your career” remark only seems to amplify that narrative.
Reese is a rising star soon to join the WNBA, which would only seem to benefit from the increased viewership that the women’s college game has seen in 2024. Perhaps Taurasi intended her remark to be a playful jab, mirroring Reese’s actions towards opponents, but is that really in her job description?
While personal preference towards Reese exists, taking a not-so-subtle shot at her after her emotional response to abuse undermines efforts to promote a supportive environment in women’s basketball.

Let's just say the truth and the truth is the WNBA players don't like Clark or Reese because they are straight. They despise Clark more because she is straight, Catholic and white. Skylar got treated like garbage and she isn't the only straight player who has gone public. The America hating lesbians feel that the WNBA is their property.

Sad. I see it with women all the time. Friends stabbing each other in the back or sleeping with someone they shouldn't have. I know it's an offensive phrase, but 'bros before hoes' was a code growing up. My one buddy and I were roommates and I got a retail job working with his new gf, who was the manager. She was hot . She freaking talked dirty to me at work all the time, and I told her repeatedly 'not happening' , even though i wanted to. Which made her more attracted to me. She'd do things like schedule her and I to do inventory after hours, so I'd tell my buddy why don't you pick up lunch for us and we'll all eat together. She got so mad. They broke up . Saw her a year later. She had no interest in me at all.

Neither did Steph, KD, Embiid, Harden Kyrie, Shaq, Wilt, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Akeem Olajuwon, Dr. J... the list of legendary players who never won a college championship is far too long to put in a single post. Only a handful of players ever win a college title, because there are too many games, teams and players to fight through, and it's all one and done at tournament time. That's not even to mention players like Lebron, Kobe, Giannis, Doncic and Jokic who never even played college ball. No one cares about someone's past when they played with a bunch of amateurs, legends are made as a pro playing against other pros, the best in the world.

Well, she is younger & a much better player & more popular...personally, I see her in the WNBA for a relatively short time, she will make huge splash, make a ton of money & maybe a Championship, then she will get out, return to college ball, as a coach, making a ton of money & & even more glory...😊

I play the game and I still didn’t watch any basketball till she came into ncaa. @stevenleblanc8146
@stevenleblanc8146 Ай бұрын
@skywiffavery That's a part of the history of basketball. It's not just women, not when it comes to this game. The older generations have a tendency to be salty. They will actively sht on those who came after them. The only thing that's really understandable about it is that the older generation usually won't say much until the younger players start getting compared to them or the greats of their era, or worse still get general recognition as being better than. That's when you see the salt, usually. There are exceptions of course. Magic, Bird, IT, Barkley, etc. The current greats in the NBA have generally been more uplifting, for now. There's a whole lot of "couldn't play in my day" in basketball. Even after a player earns their stripes. The latest example is Shaq dumping on pmuch every good big man. He has a tendency to throw shade once someone gets Superman comparisons or if the word dominant is used. That's just how it's been for the last 40, 50, maybe 60 years. You don't see that anywhere near as often in any other major sport.

But let's see who Caitlin Clark can bring with her as far as a new audience. I love her game , I love her attitude , and I love her mentality. Women hating women is nothing new. I’m 77 and I can remember going through this many times. Just because I did my job efficiently, I learned quickly and because of that many times I would be asked if I could take on another position also. I never turned down learning more and staying busy. Is it my fault those jealous women didn’t want to expand their knowledge or keep busier than sitting in the same place all day? I don’t think so. I started working around men and it was totally different albeit they like play jokes on you to see if they can rattle you. Once that’s over they’ll be glad to teach you. No jealousy.

The ones speaking out are bitter , angry , angry about pay/ wage gap compaired to the NBA which they cant even fill a highschool auditorium and hardly anyone knows who is who ect... Above all if the amount of jealousy that by no means is one ounce deserved by Caitlin herself. The women's NCAA tournament final had over 18 million viewers actually beating the mens final. Very very important point to put all of this in perspective. Iowa was like a mid-major 8-seed in some significant respects -- a well-coached team with one great star. Look at tiny Davidson with Steph Curry, or mid-major UW-Green Bay in the early 1990's that also had a 3-point shooting phenom point guard (named Tony Bennett; look up his record-breaking stats). Iowa was far from an established powerhouse.

Breanna Stewart and other people keep saying this championship thing, but that's just bullshit. Championships rarely mean anything other than you went to a stacked college program. Now if she took a team that had 0 basketball history, with players who weren't top tier talent and won a bunch of times with that team we could listen to her talk about needing to win a championship. But she played for a college known for their basketball program, where she had tons of help. Caitlin played for a team, who will probably not even make it to March Madness again after she leaves. I personally am more impressed with players who elevated their programs (ala Steph Curry or Steve Nash), more so that players who go to really great basketball schools like University of Connecticut, Duke, etc. and win championships.

I don't know what games you were watching, but Iowa has a lot of talent besides Caitlan. They will definitely be back in the hunt next year.

I'll cross my fingers for them with you, but I don't see it happening. You think they have someone who can replace 31 points per game? They barely scraped by any of the good teams this year with Caitlin going bonkers. So... I hope they can keep it up, but their school track record says otherwise. Who knows l, maybe this teams play will inspire better recruits to go to Iowa.... but unlikely. If you were good... you'd probably got UNLV or UCONN.

It’s so bad. The worst thing I ever heard was Diana Tarausi say “waving goodbye to her career?” She came off SO bad during that that it made me look at her different as a player tbh. However the only thing I’ll say is that the people making this a specifically woman thing are mad wierd, this is a sports and jealously thing. Everybody remembers things like LeBron’s teammates on the Cavs talking about how they don’t need him, or Magic getting friction from Norm Nixon. People saying “oh women would rather watch the ship sink than see somebody else get promoted to captain” are just wierd.

The fact that everyone’s talking about college women’s basketball over professional women’s basketball just shows how sad it is

I’m a huge basketball fan and I’ve literally never heard of Taurasi until she talked smack about Caitlin Clark. But to be fair, I’ve never heard of any WNBA players with the exception of Brittney Griner…and that’s only because of her legal stuff.

Too much negativity and dumb crap in the WNBA . Self destruction lol its not gonna last long if they dont get it together. They only have like 10 teams left and they keep shutting down teams or moving them to other cities. Nobody but their diehard fans watches them. These good young players are better off playing overseas. More stability.

I’m a man, and the thought of watching a WNBA game has never entered my mind! But, since I have witnessed Caitlin Clark’s performance at Iowa, and the raw talent that she brings. I will be watching the WNBA and that is only because of Caitlin Clark!!!!
