So wonderful to see you exploring Samos and Chios! You are so right about North Americans tending to stick with Santorini and Mykonos! There is so much more in Greece to explore! We like to slow travel through the islands by ferry, each year visiting a few more and are now at 35 islands plus areas in the mainland and Peloponnese. (We are fellow Canadians from Nova Scotia.) Greece ….A fabulous country with friendly people, gorgeous beaches, warm turquoise water, reasonably priced accommodation and great food! I’m glad you mentioned the beautiful pebbled beaches….we always travel with water shoes now. That way you can always enjoy the beaches …pebbles, marble stones or sand…no matter! Thank you for showing us 2 more Greek Islands, Samos and Chios! Out of the 2, I think we would prefer Samos. The beaches look lovely. We have been to Santorini, Mykynos and Corfu. I think most North Americans visit Santorini and Mykynos because they are the more famous. Also, most people are only able to travel to Greece maybe once in their lifetime, which I think is the reason for going to those islands. We happen to LOVE Santorini, and have been there now 2x. We have done the entire island. We agree it is crazy busy and expensive.....but WOW! We stay for days at a time, so get to experience it when all of the cruise people have left. When it is all lit up at night, there is nothing more beautiful. We are currently planning our 3rd visit to the Greek Islands,, and have decided we HAVE to visit Santorini again. We are currently figuring out which other 2 Greek islands to add. We are thinking of Paros (after watching your videos quite a while ago). and probably Naxos. Crete is also a possibility. I have yet to have a Freddo Cappucino, and it is on my list. :). Keep the Greek videos coming. LOVE IT!

You are absolutely correct on Mykonos and Santorini. About the beaches on Samos: on the Northside they are shingle beaches and much more affected by the wind thjat comes from the North mostly. On the other side of Samos you will find the sandy beaches and they are more protected from the wind due to the mountains. Now if you are going to Syros next, you will arrive in the best possible way: by ferry. That will give you the the magnificent view of the 2 cathedrals (Orthodox and Christian) each on their hill above the city.

Let's gooo. Samos is the most underrated island in Greece and in my opinion the most naturally beautiful!! It has low number of tourists even in high tourism periods, but it's the most green island out there with a variety of beaches and great ancient and modern monuments. I visit every year and my only complain is some people are a bit grumpy and you have to be careful while driving because of narrow roads full of turns.

In Lindos, Rhodes and Skiathos it's mostly British. The ocean in some of these Greek islands can be cold so it's better to go when it's very hot in July / August. However the offset is that it's too hot for sightseeing. In Mykonos one day the ocean was full of jelly fish so could not swim. The ocean looks beautiful.

Subscribed! Me and my wife going in June next to Pythagoreio. And yes we are Dutch 😅 love Greece. We go twice a year, may/june and half September. Indeed skip the expensive islands. We went multiple times to Crete, Corfu, Kos and Paros and had the best food for normal cheap prices. My girl can't have any alcohol so she loves a fredo cappuccino too haha. Excited to go after your video, we have a car for touring the island as well.

It's very easy from where we live. We live in the South of the NL and 45 minutes to Düsseldorf Airport. All the Islands we went had a direct flight except Paros via Athens indeed. Samos also a direct flight since this year, that's why our first time. September maybe Rhodes, haven't booked yet. Also on our list are Naxos, Kefalonia, Karpathos.

Samos is the birthplace of the Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, after whom the Pythagorean theorem is named, the philosophers Melissus of Samos and Epicurus, and the astronomer Aristarchus of Samos, the first known individual to propose that the Earth revolves around the Sun. Samian wine was well-known in antiquity and is still produced on the island. The island was governed by the semi-autonomous Principality of Samos under Ottoman suzerainty from 1835 until it joined Greece in March 1913. (Wikipedia)
