MTB TYRE PRESSURE CHALLENGE - HOW HIGH WILL IT GO UNTIL IT BLOWS!?

MTB tyre pressure challenge - How high will it go until it blows? I add 10 PSI into my back tyre after every trick, spot or trail I shred and see how hard I can ride until it explodes, but how much pressure will this tyre take?
I start of the session with a normal 30 PSI that all mountain bikers are used to and after each trick, trail or jump I hit I then have to increase the pressure by 10 PSI until the inevitable explosion comes and ruins the fun but how hard can a mountain bike tyre really go to? Let's find out this age old question in today's video. I get into the action on my local trails by hitting some jumps and doing technical jib's before switching it up and getting out my huge portable hopper ramp for some stunts! From here we then get into some urban MTB freeride action and even some huge stair sets to really agitate the wheel bt when will it break!!? Ah man. This reminds me of when I got my 1st mountain bike for Christmas back in '90 / '91. I pumped the tyres up as hard as I could, because I thought that was just what you did. In the middle of the night myself and my parents were awoken by what could only be likened to the sound of a shotgun being let off. Everyone sharted themselves. Memories.

Filling up my bike tires at the petrol station with my bike in the back of my station wagon when one tire let go. Everyone dived for cover, I casually closed the door and drove home to change my underwear.

I had a similar experience with a sac truck with tyres pumped up, that we happened to leave out in the yard during a hot summer day. Similar experience, we all thought someone fired off a shotgun, took a while to figure out what went too.

110 psi is what I run semi trucks at, years ago a guy got mad at his boss and put a knife into a steer tire and it blew the knives back cutting his jugular and he died, the video is on YT somewhere. If a semi tire blows and your on a motorcycle next to it your either going to be hurt or dead, 110 is a lot, I wonder if it prevents punctures like that

Can definitely imagine how loud that 140psi explosion was. One time i was servicing my road bike, changed an inner tube, pumped it up to 90, thought everything was fine and moved on. Right at that moment the tube exploded, must've had a pinch flat or something, and it was so unexpected and loud that my mind went blank for a second or two, ears ringing wildly for quite a while, before i realised it was the tube😂 that was a road inner tube at 90psi, now just imagine a massive DH tyre at 140☠️

I wouldn't be surprised if the limiting factor turns out to be how much you weigh rather than the strength of the tire. E: or the pump is engineered well and won't let you put more pressure through it than it can take.

Great video for in regard to applied theory of mishandling of the tyres. I am interested in seeing some data surrounding the Raceking XC tyres… between me and my son, we have had six failures riding on “ordinary” terrain (fireroads)… yet amazing durability experienced whilst riding down technical chunky singletrack ockgardens. Tubeless, of course. No idea why/how fireroads at speeds in excess of 30MPH cause the tyres to self detonate at pressures between 25 - 45 PSI.
