I started air sealing my 64 year old house at the end of last winter. Well last month I got a statement from my power company that showed that I used 36% less energy than the average of the top 20% of the most efficient similar sized homes in my area. Before Air Sealing I was always close to the average of the top 20% give or take 3%-5%. I posted that statement on my Facebook page, along with your video of the blower door test before air sealing and after, but before installing new windows, and after. Needless to say a couple of my Facebook friends have asked me to share with them any KZbin video's that may give them ideas. I've shared a couple of your videos including this one to give them incentives, to get their homes winterized, before this upcoming winter.

That is great to hear! How long have you lived there? I am always amazed when I go into an older home that has not been sealed and I realize not only how much energy was wasted, but how many miserable winters and summers did the residents endure for so long? and needlessly...

And, thank you for sharing my videos. I really appreciate that and I hope they help!

@@homeairleakagetest I've been here since 2011. Because of work, I was putting in close to seventy hours a week so I had very little time to look into improving the efficiency of the house. When I bought the home off the children of the original owner in 2011, the son said to me, my mom could never get warm in that house. Over the first twelve years I found a number of big leaks that once corrected knocked down my utility bills over the years. Nothing could have prepared me for the number of hidden air leaks I've found this year. I'll have everything buttoned and corrected that I wanted to do by the end of October. Next spring I have to finish up in the attic with sealing the Top Plates and increasing the insulation level to R-60. All the attic intrusions and a chase have already been sealed up. Had I realized the amount of work that I was dealing with, I would have hired someone like you to do an energy audit, back when I first moved in.
