That's a very capable integrated. Clear upgrade path too: start with its internal DAC and add a better external DAC later. In the Jacques Loussier track the difference is very prominent, but for the price of that amplifier, I am hearing great value for money. You won't regret picking this one, add a pair of nice speakers and you'd be dancing around your room to the music :)

My question is… the sound clearance it’s more or less the same of his big brother pma 110?? Because the specs are almost the same. Facing digital vs analog it’s no doubt. Always analógic sound it’s better. Warm and powerful. Not such as metallic!! Thanks for your video!
@DougMen12 жыл бұрын
To my ears, the analog input has more air on top, resulting in a more three dimensional image, which becomes a little flatter and less holographic with the digital input. It isn't a huge difference, but ti is noticeable. I'm sorry to say this again, and I promise it will be the last time, but I miss the livelier and more dynamic sound of the Focal Sopra 1.

The 1700NE is a budget amp compared to Pass. But Denon is a big, very capable company. For example i have rarely seen SX1 Limited inside construction quality, in fact you might have to look a lot in more expensive gear to find it, "if".... you find it. When Classe moved to D&M factory they said their previous location didn't have the state of the art development equipment that Denon is having in D&M factory. In fact, if the wish would exist, Denon could build world class beating electronics of all sorts. In my opinion SX1 Limited is world class !

This speaker has 87 db sensitivity, as far as i know (correct me if i am wrong). Do you think it can be driven by my marantz sr8012 in a decent way ? (it is an av amp and not a pure stereo amp). It has got up to 170 wats in pure stereo mode. (somwhere i have read it is even up to 230 watts) Would these speakers perhaps also work well with a tube amp with 20 watts for example ? What do you think ? I know that many dealers say, that a av receiver/amp is unable to drive such high end speakers in a decent way. Do you think, that this is necessarily always the case ?
@TheAlphaAudio2 жыл бұрын
One quick question: you do realize these are 15.000 Euro speakers (in the Netherlands) or around $20.000 in the US? We use them to test equipment and show the capabilities of amps, cables, dacs, etc. We would never advise to combine such speakers with a 2000 Euro amp or receiver. Yes: it works, but there are better ways to spend the money. The balance is way off. The TAD's are not hard to drive. You need a stable amplifier, but that's always the case with high-end speakers. The impedance is friendly enough to be able to use a tube-amp. There is a peak around 2000 Hz, so you will get some coloration, but not too bad with a decent tube-amp.
@tommy-be-good65802 жыл бұрын
@@TheAlphaAudio thx for your quick reply. Ok, i have to admit that my question was perhaps somewhat naive. I am aware, that this speaker costs over 14.000 Euro and of course no professional would advise me to use a amp that is nearly five times cheaper then the speaker. My marantz av amp would only be a temprorary solution anyway, till i find a well matching amp for a reasonable and affordable price. For example, i would like a amp from Pass Labs - the entry level "Pass Labs Int 25" . The Int 25 perhaps would be a good choice, if i can buy a domonstration model with discount for example. I have a chance to listen to the "TAD Evo 2" speakers this week and i am already excited about it. I will see, which amp the dealer uses with this speakers. Honestly i hope to get a demonstration model of a good amp for a good price or i will try it on the used market, to keep my budged. But first i have to see, if this speakers convince me. I heard that speaker at the Munich High End and was absolute thrilled. But the speakers were powered by TAD ultra high end amps, that i really can not afford at all. I want to mention again, that i greatly appreciate your channel and your work and effort you put into this wonderful "hobby" to help people make the right decision when buying. (thumbs up and keep up the good). It is really fun. ;)

Good demo tracks. Good sounds from that Denon and TAD's Not equal to your Pass amps, a-duh! I was impressed by the sound of it's internal DAC, favoring it to the line input sound at times. The line signal may have a bit more weight and flesh, but clarity and soundstage detail seem to increase with the onboard one. A very good digital stage and ever so slightly less good line level stage? Sounds good either way.
