I love your pink house it’s beautiful. Hope your surgery goes well. Miss you when you don’t make a video I’ve stitch for years off and on. I’ve knit for years but right now I can’t hand and arm problems. Keep up the great work. God bless.

Thank you so much from North East England for sharing your eye health challenges, it was very reassuring to hear of the progress you are making. I’ve recently underwent a vitrectomy + IOC lens replacement. I had been very fearful of losing my sight and not being able to stitch, but feel there may now be some hope. So loved seeing your projects. I’m a quarter way through the same Long Dog Sampler, a joy to stitch!

Best wishes for speedy recovery from surgery. My husband had the same experience. Thick glasses to 20/20 vision, it was transformative.

Thank you, yes, life changing even with one eye done! Can't wait for both to see well.

I’m glad you were happy with LFA fabric. Mine was a purpley pink which I’m going to try dunking in coffee and/ or tea. I’ve never dyed my own fabric but may resort to that also. If you come across charts you really like, grab them if you can. Crossstitch charts do go out of print eventually which is different from other hobbies. Congratulations on almost being done with Winter Rose Manor. I have just a small start on mine. Your scarf is beautiful! Good luck with your upcoming eye surgery. ♥️

Thank you! I'm aware that charts go out of print. There are a few that I want from HATS that were only available for a short time... (before I started stitching) However, I'm resisting the urge to buy too many at the moment.

Lovely stitching. I have also had bilateral cataract surgery and use readers strength 5+. Works perfectly.

Thank you! I'm very excited to have both eyes done. Tomorrow! yes it seems that +5 is what will work for me. Happy stitching!

I want to stitch Teresa Kogut Come to the Garden, it is just stunning. I admire your ability to resist collecting charts, I’m not so disciplined. Hope your eye surgery goes well and recovery is quick. Thanks for sharing.

I have just purchased the hdf for Dutch Beauty. I got the "dark version." I'll keep an eye out, and may just start with you 😉

I want to do the dark version as well! What is the "HDF" that you refer to? What dark version did you purchase? I'm intrigued!

@@samplerstyle hdf is hand dyed fibers by Victoria Clayton! I've bought packs for DB and And They Sinned, but now I want to kit everything with her threads!

I was very nearsighted before my cataract surgery & let him talk me into getting lenses on my eyes to see 20 20 & I hated it for the longest time. I grew up being able to see close up & now I can't. It was very hard for me to adjust

I so worried about doing that

I understand about the glasses issue with cataract surgery. Because of covid my second surgery was delayed 5 months. I wore a pair of glasses with the lens out all that time. My distance vision is better than ever in my life but I require bifocals. I hated readers perched down on my nose so I wear plain lenses on top and bifocals below. I had a pair of glasses made with higher strength bifocals for my stitching but wish I had gotten them even stronger. Like you, I cannot stitch using a Dazor lamp with magnifying lens. It really bothers me and I feel ill. For really tiny linen I use “mag eyes”.
@samplerstyle2 жыл бұрын
Being delayed must have been tough. I'm glad I waited. I'm going to bring some linen to my eye appointment so I can get the best lens for stitching. What is "mag eyes"?
@conniesteele72132 жыл бұрын
@@samplerstyle They fit on your face but the lens is down in front and adjustable. They come in various strengths. I originally bought them for my father who could not read the newspaper using a hand held magnifier. He loved them, helped him so much that I tried them too. You can read about them on line.

@@conniesteele7213 Thanks. I found them on Amazon! I'll check them out if my solutions no longer work after the second surgery.

Lovely projects. I’m returning to cross stitching after a twenty plus year hiatus. I became a KNITTER and now trying to balance the two passions. I’m only on my 2nd stitching project and know I’m not a fan of paper patterns, but, I need to pencil off the squares as I stitch them. (60 year old eyes are a game changer!) What app are you using on your iPad? Does it allow you to somehow mark off what’s done?
@samplerstyle2 жыл бұрын
Hi Holly! The app I use is Goodnotes, here is a link: www.goodnotes.com Yes! You can use a stylus, Apple Pencil, or even your finger to mark off your progress. There is a pen/highlighter/eraser tool right in the app. I really love it. I never use paper any more even for knitting. I also have a knitting channel in case you didn't know, we have a lot of fun over there and I'm also a hand dyer! (of yarn). Here is a link to my other channel: kzbin.infovideos
