SAMPLING IN A RECORD STORE | MPC Live Beatmaking

I left the studio with the MPC Live in standalone mode to record some samples directly from a record store. I came back home and made a beat out of the samples I found and it came out pretty cool!!
I love that the MPC Live is standalone and battery driven so it can be used on the fly like this. Im also using the minibrute 2s for a quick little melody to go on top of the beat and the scratching!

I know :) the store owner didn’t really wanted to be in the video so I had to edit it this way... the fact is that the guy was 100% ok with me doing this and I bought the records at full price. Support your local record stores people!

Yeah! I love the MPC Live. I've been into Maschine since the start so I'm not as quick on the MPC (yet). I will never let go of Maschine and the workflow of it but I do think the MPC brings a lot of great stuff! The standalone part is awsome! It really feels like an instrument when you dont need to pack your laptop in order to make music.

BigDaddyMacc, I hear ya! I have an MPC 1000 for years now and it’s a great piece of gear. I was thinking of selling it and putting the money toward an MPC Live but they’re not selling for much these days. I just assume keep my 1000 instead of giving it away for $200 - $300. Keep the gear that works for YOU and just add a couple of pieces as you go along.

I'm surprised they even have a test area. It looks like a auto turntable, but still it takes some kind of teaching, learning, and sense to handle vinyl and any turntable...you may not realize you're doing something wrong then the owner has to fix the turntable and appraise the record lmao. Must be a good guy....better than most.

When it comes to making music and getting the different devices to sound cool I just think it's a matter of knowing your own limitations and style. I've been making beats for a long time now and I kinda always know where to take an idea or a specific sound further. For the beats I make in videos like this I rarely second guess myself, I just run with every first idea I get and make really quick decisions. That's much harder for me If I'm not making a video... So... I guess my boring answer is: experience and my less boring answer is: go with the flow. How you find that kinda helpful. Thanks!
