Drove 40 minutes in LA traffic to have this chicken today thanks to this episode. Had to wait an additional 2 hours in line and cooking time. It was completely fantastic, the second best fried chicken I have had in the LA area, but I don't think I'd do 2 hours for it again. I will come back when the lines get down to a more reasonable length. We did chicken and waffles, fries, and the market special which was peas and bacon today. It was all so delicious.

McCando Kao I went for first time in August 2019. Wait time was over 2 hours. It’s a manufactured scarcity, as they’ve kept it in an absolutely tiny place with one register. I assume the lines keep a buzz alive with feelings of being in on something trendy yet exclusive, but they could expand a bit and serve hundreds more each day. I’d like some grad student at USC business school to write a paper on whether Johnny Zone is the best business man and marketer in LA or is in fact turning away thousands of dollars every day because of the wait

I used to visit this building complex so often as a little boy with family because of the noodle shop there (Kim Chuy's, which is still there!) but haven't been there in years. Went back there this past week to try Howlin' Rays. We had to wait over an hour to even place our order. The sandwich is definitely the best thing on the menu. Greatest thing, however, is that the building no longer smells like old piss and homeless people. It's so much cleaner than it used to be. Got some take out from the noodle shop afterwards for dinner. Good stuff

Got chilli in my eyes once, my mother told me to wash my hands and then instructed me to rub a bit of lemon juice on my eyelids and just a little in my eyes, it stopped the burning and then i washed my eyes with water, all was fine.
