@@thomasarussellsr Make that "most". Or "all traditionally built wooden boats leak". The last A-Class catamaran I built out of 3mm ply didn't leak. It didn't live in the water, but spent most of it's life on a trailer and only went in the water for racing, so a very different type of boat.

I'm 65, a 16 year stroke survivor, had triple cardiac arterial bypass last June, I have been "retired" since the stroke, and am now the house-husband, like my wife labeled me. I have lots to do. I don't social media much, so I am so blown away when I realize how much other people watch and find fault with things from your work... the bark inclusion on that one frame was so obviously just that, (not rot) it amazes me when folks nit-pick to the extent they do. But, hey, it got us a little snippet of the perfectly done "repair". Maybe I should spend more time with my zoom button and magnifying glass, to find every little "fault" I can find... Nah! I'll just enjoy the successful work of a PROFESSIONAL SHIPWRIGHT and his hand picked crew and have faith that my 2 cents worth is better kept to myself! There is one thing that does bug me though... Is Pancho staying warm enough?

@@CorwynGC CorwynGC is right. Self-appointed guardians belong in some 'other' channels (which typically don't have any expert commentary from the hosts); any questions are met with the baying of the mob which has an inexhaustible supply of "amazing" to fill in the large cracks. I think Tally Ho viewers know they're seeing and hearing the very best descriptions and explanations from Leo and the team, as well as transparency and straight talking.

Pete achieves a new level of on-camera fabulousness! (get an agent. The camera loves you!) Rivets can take it! (and that stress test machine backs up what the forklift tests proved) Pancho achieves the summit! (what I wouldn't give to hear her inner dialogue) Angle jig for the caulking edge router is a simple work of genius (add that to the rivet making machine) The wood planks are voluptuously gorgeous. (never get tired of marveling at them) The patch for the "rot" very satisfying to watch (as are the details of filling all the screw holes) Best channel on KZbin... thanks!

A magnificent tropical bird brought to the Pacific Northwest and having it flight feathers clipped so all it can ever do is waddle. Loved seeing Rosie tie off that extension cord junction. I used to do touring concert sound, and we always referred to things like that as, 'making them melon proof'. If one was not diligent in anticipating potential problem areas, inevitably some 'melon' would trip over the cord right in the middle of the guitar solo. Just took me back for a bit there. Fine work being done, as usual.

One of the more brilliant videos ever posted by this group. Pete's description of how carvel built wooden ships are made water tight should be required viewing for any historian studying wooden ships. Also, I would like to point out something about the over-engineering of the boat, which the rivet testing shows is clearly one of Leo's obsessions. Along those lines, I just want to point out that the actual history of Tally Ho is strong evidence that the design and construction as prescribed by the plans is extremely over-engineered and incredibly durable. The boat was subjected to a range of function and mistreatment in sea conditions spanning the globe for a very long history, and came through with flying colors. That is very strong evidence, to my mind, that this version of the boat will be incredibly strong, seaworthy, and will care for the health of its crew and passengers so long as they care for themselves. Also, the incredible beauty of this vessel is growing as its sea-meeting skin is completed. It is so exciting!

I'm amazed at how this boat build has held me in rapt attentiveness.... Now I'm already dreading when the build will be completed.... Thank you Leo and the rest of the crew for the long building process! It's now revealing the results that are now an obvious boat about to be afloat!

Incredibly, I have enjoyed the music in every single Sampson Boat Co. video. Aside from the wonderful boat building and excellent video production, that is amazing.

Somehow I missed the 'part 1' bit in the title, so that ending really caught me out! I'm all on edge now waiting for the second part - quite disturbing. But the boat is looking so good now, it's starting to feel like it really will be finished "in two years time"!! The amount of work that's going into this is quite overwhelming, though. I shall never be able to look at a boat again and just think "oh, a boat" - now I'll be looking at every boat and wondering how it was built and how much work went into it. It just goes to show that we are essentially and fundamentally a cooperative species, not a competitive one.

Thanks for letting us join the journey Leo I love watching the progress and I'm learning so much the easy way, instead of by trial and error as I re-commence restoring a 28 foot wooden double ender here in Australia. Love it if anyone wants to join the journey!

Watching from Auckland, the morning of day two in the Prada Cup Final.. the classic technology used so well on Tally Ho contrasts dramatically to the modern tech of the AC boats, both masterfully executed. Thanks Leo and team🙏for this weeks update.

It's coming together so beautifully. I have commented in the past that Tally Ho will be the same as before but much better. I still hold to that.

It must be so exciting seeing the planks go on after all this time and work. As an outsider, it's the planks that really make it begin to look like a boat, and not a wooden skeleton.

The remaking of Tally Ho is such an impressive enterprise. A team of people from all over, of all backgrounds, is working together to produce something remarkable in today's world - a hand-built wooden artefact that should last another hundred years. Every member of that team will have a great memory, something to tell their grandchildren - I helped rebuild Tally Ho! Another aspect of this that is obvious but may go unnoticed is the use of power tools. The manual work going into the project is immense, but it's staggering to think how much more work it would have been to do the job with only hand saws, adzes and so on. But all in all, what a task, and what a result. As a mere onlooker, I feel privileged to watch this amazing undertaking unfold, and I raise a glass to everyone involved. It's not too much to say that the experience of watching this work has enhanced my life. Thank you!
