As a long time resident of Clallam County I'd like to apologize to Leo and the talented crew. "Great View, No Vision" should be the county motto. What should be a shining example of what this area can produce is instead an example of what dedicated and artistic people can produce under bureaucratic, small minded duress. The energy, money and worries Leo has had to fight is forever a black stain on our county. The most obvious foolishness being the need to move the boat with a beautiful end in sight. More wasted time and resources when only fools would not see an end is in sight. We have great people in the county but obviously not in our bureaucracy. Thanks to Leo and the crew for allowing us to see that artistic people can come together to make something as wonderful as Tally Ho. Leo for being a stellar example of how a good person handles themselves with dedication, courage and true class in the face of unreasonable assault. Thanks to the many crew for highlighting the best traits humans can have, hard work, cooperation, teaching, comradery and good will. An example the world would do well to follow. It's been inspiring to watch. Good luck in Jefferson county. May your move be seamless and productive. I'm sure Port Townsend and Jefferson will welcome you with open arms. I guess we get stuck with a MAT clinic instead. No waiting, no lines (their add).

hang on guys, none of you live next door to the relentless sound of power tools, hammering, sawing and not to mention the massive quantities of dust this work must produce (for years). The site is not a boat yard but residential/agriculture so give a little slack to the neighbor/s who complained. we all love the project and a compromise has been reached so climb down from your moral horses and enjoy the next stage :)

Several years ago I was minding my own business when a friend tells me about the insane boat-builder in Washington, who has a KZbin channel. I check it out and think, "Ha! That's not a channel. There are only three videos on it, and there is no hope this guy is every going to rebuild that boat." Ninety-five bi-weekly videos later, I am so glad I am so bad at predictions. This is a glorious example of doing something beautiful for no reason except beauty is it own reward.

Pete's blown hydraulic line story cracked me up. In college I worked the overnight shift at a ski resort making snow. One night the groomer cat blew a .5" hydraulic hose right in the middle of the most popular run. It looked like a murder had happened there - the snow was blood red. The part wasn't going to arrive until noon the next day, so we had to put snow fence around the cat until we could get it off the hill, as it was considered a hazard.

Only three years late! As a luthier who needs to make perfect curves in a variety of woods including extremely dense ebony where it meets a maple neck, I would suggest the Angelique be done with scrapers. Not only do you have extremely fine control and a near perfect finish when you are done, they can be laid flat to ride curves and shave off high spots very delicately.

Watching you dig out and put back in the slotted brass screws reminded me of when my older brother, a shipwright apprentice, was building his first boat in Victoria (across the way) in the mid 60's. Except that power hand tools were very primitive back then. Drills were not cordless, not variable speed and not reversible. Even with a gear reduction they didn't have a lot of torque. Needless to say there was a lot of work with a brace and bit. Keep up the great work. The craftsmanship that all of the crew constantly display is very satisfying.

I have watched every one of these video’s and every time I go away for a week or two between episodes and then come back for the newest posting, I am struck by one thing. Tally Ho is an incredibly beautiful and well constructed craft. Her fit and finish are absolutely spectacular and it almost seems like a crime to cover such amazing workmanship with paint. This video demonstrates what a talented group Leo and company are and I would literally pay them for an opportunity to go and work on the boat. Unfortunately, although I love sailing and have some woodcrafting skills, they are closer to Pancho’s ability than Leo’s, lol…

Having spent a lifetime in both the automotive and aircraft industries, I'm familiar with preparing a surface for finish. I had no idea the prep for wooden boats could be this involved. Tally Ho is going to be the fairest vessel on the high seas.

It would be so cool to see this boat to have its natural wood color when finished. I know it won’t because he is going to paint it like the original Tally Ho. But hey, I can dream

The sea is a pretty harsh environment and a paint coating protects the hull. Any part below the waterline has to be painted with anti-foul in any case otherwise marine organisms would grow all over it and slow the boats passage through the water and ultimately destroy the planking. The varnished internal timbers are really beautiful though.

'Dry guy' Codie's rendition of an air shower was quite amusing!😁 Despite the fact that standing next to a boat was about as dissociative as such a scenario could get it nonetheless evoked speculation regarding what a quick rinse after a hard day's work might look like on Mars.

Good to seep Patrick back again. Nice to see a master craftsman at work. The boat looked bigger to me when she was painted.

I'm imagining a powerfully competent contention of structural engineers, fabricators, and crew at standby to loft the standing rigging when completed. Sprit, and Masts, Oh what a sight she'll present, and not far off! Dinema, Galvanized, Stainless??

It's interesting how small Tally Ho looks from across the street when people were painting her. Now would be a good time to sell the plywood of the lofting floor if you don't need it again.

Hey Leo , plastering guys use a light bulb on the end of an extension cord to set fairing while long boarding their walls , arches and barrel cellings . At night it is easy to mark areas of concern for the crew's attention tomorrow . Just lay the bulb against the hull and you can easily see the highs and hollows .

I can see why it takes so long to put out a video. Simple excellent editing Leo, music was spot on, kept jumping between scenes, longboarding, scalloping, that bloody bird, cleanup, interviews, that bird and your own commentary. It's been a true pleasure watching. Hope the move goes well.
