Mate your reviews are so good. Down to earth easy to understand. Love it. Tempted to switch to ebike after watching your vids. Rode a Trek Rail 9 2021 last week was a weapon.

Welcome aboard nice set up but I think the Meta is a better option in 21!
@jasper_of_puppets4 жыл бұрын
@@SamsBikes Yeah, the '21 Commencal looks like a rad bike for sure, but I'm worried that it's a bit too long for me. I'm 5'6 and their size small has a 440mm reach and 1238mm wheelbase. I feel like the less extreme length of the medium Decoy (430mm reach/1204mm wheelbase) may be more to my liking... easier to manual, bunny hop, and generally throw around. But the '21 Meta Power does have a bigger battery and the new EP8 motor. I'm hoping YT updates the Decoy with a bigger battery and the new Shimano motor for 2021!

The best thing about these videos is Sams in-depth subjective reactions to what the bike is doing externally . It sounds honest and always from his personal point of view . Not preachy or political to not insult the manufacture . Great stuff. from my limited experience my 29 er is too high off the ground thus creating higher center of gravity and a feeling of less control, especially on downhills . It definitely rolls better on the flat but the sense of being unbalanced can be a little scary at times .
@SamsBikes4 жыл бұрын
Hey Sirios thanks for the Kind words I try and say it how I feel it. I'm not sure I mentioned the height but your totally right. I feel you get used to that but it does time some time.. Thanks for watching keep Riding Rider
@Brat0077n4 жыл бұрын
I have the exact same problem, but I attribute it to the 30 lbs around my midsection. Looking forward to restoring bike's natural center of gravity in a few months LOL!

Awesome review thanks Sam, as you know i'm running the base 29 as that'll all my LBS could get hold of. Waiting for the Fox X2 and Fox 36e to arrive (160mm and 145mm maintained) but in the meantime riding the bike with stock rockshox forks and shock. Got to say the bike climbs very well as you said, and shreds the down hills OK as well. For a base model decoy it rides real nice. Also I must mention as we all gain more experience in enduro riding one doesn't always need 170mm front and rear to shed the big downhills. Still waiting for my Sam's bikes tee shirt. Photo up soon! Cheers Craig
@SamsBikes4 жыл бұрын
Hey Craig thanks for buying the t shirt mate can’t wait to see it! Yes the base model rides real well but I’m sure you can’t wait for the new suspension. Your totally right you don’t need loads of suspension a good ride can get away with less!

Another great video Sam, must admit that I’m a bit old for all those bike Park shenanigans now, so I think it’d be the 29er for me for a steady bit of trail riding!

Yes I have a question about the Decoy. It was hard decision between the Decoy and the SL. Because of COVID I wasn’t able to ride the Decoy since they closed the Mill. I did get to ride the SL as well as the regular Levo. I heard a lot of comments about clanking noise from where the motor attaches to the bottom of the frame on the Decoy. This was the one issue that swayed me. I really love the natural feel of the SL but I really loved the clean lines of the Decoy. Bottom line...I’m a huge fan of simplicity and functionality.

Great review Sammy...I recently had a 2020 Giant Trance 2 29 and experienced a similar thing in that sometimes it felt like the bike was more in control...have sold and now looking fr an e-bike, and as I'm only 175cm and 77kg I'm thinking 27.5 wheels might give me more confidence
@archietamayo764 жыл бұрын
i purchased my giant reign-e based on how i faired locally with with my recent bikes 29er strive and mullet converted 275 firebird. for me, both were hard to control for steep and twisty. i added a zeb and coil to the reign-e, now its even better. did looked into converting to a mullet (trending), but i looked at what you did and my past experience, decided not to.

Sam again great review..... bikes also perfect. Do you know when YT will get the new ep8 motor. Merida i thing got it?
@SamsBikes4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I have no idea when YT will put the EP8 in the Decoy! but I dont see them sitting back and losing business. Commencal and Merida released it today
@deanrwilson4 жыл бұрын
The EP8 has some issues Shimano are trying to sort out before they go into mainstream production. Your would have seen bikes with pre production EP8's. So unfortunately if you wan't a YT with the EP8 it's a wait and see scenario and fingers crossed they will sort out the motor issues and go into full production asap. If they rush and get it wrong it will hurt their name IMO. The Bosch CX4 motor is the leader in terms of power uphills.

I’m a YT fan boy (18’ Jef PR 29r and 20’ Levo comp 29 up front & 27.5 rear) Enjoy your channel (U have skylz !) but I think a mullet is 29 upfront and 27 five in the rear no?

Is the 29 better on battery life than the mullet ? Did or do you change output setting in crawl trail boost ?

What about 27.5s on the 145mm decoy?!
@SamsBikes4 жыл бұрын
Sorry Blake I cant get a 27 wheels with a 12 speed on it.. also it would just make it a mullet decoy no?
@bpet22374 жыл бұрын
@@SamsBikes Hmm why not 12speed on 27.5 wheels? And its less travel than the decoy! So it would be a short travel 27.5 bike vs the long travel 27.5 you have now ... i think there is a major gap in the marketplace right now for playful 27.5 'trail' bikes

@deanrwilson4 жыл бұрын
Yes need to wait for the EP8 motor which has a couple of issues they are trying to sort out. The Bosch motor at this point is clearly the best climber in terms of power. I love the YT Bikes and I know some companies give you a choice of Bosch or Shimano like Focus.
