So it's based on religious assumptions that, if one doesn't believe in Christ, they are evil to the core.

Thank you so much for speaking on Jewish identity in the United States and its recent envelopment into whiteness. I’ve been speaking on this for so long, because people have been tripping me all the way out, talking about “Jews are white.” I be like da’f#%k you mean? 🤨 Jews are not white, Jews are only “white” in the United States, because American racism is totally different than everybody else’s racism around the world. Our racism is juvenile to put it plainly, and only runs skin deep. Racism in Europe is old world racism, and that shit runs back thousands of years. It’s not just about what you look like, it’s about where you’re from, it’s about what your practices are, it’s about who or where your ancestors migrated from… American racism is like checkers, compared to the chess type racism in Europe. It’s not nuanced, and it is not based in ethnicity. It’s just based in the most superficial characteristics. But when people say that Jews are white, I would respond that “if I can look at you and see that you’re Jewish, then you’re not white.” That’s literally the basis of whiteness as built on the exclusion of otherness. Especially the presentation of specific phenotypal traits. I would tell them that if Jews were white, then the holocaust would never have happened, because what would it have been based on? 🤷🏽 (insert nazi-think) ‘these people ain’t like us… They’re not white.’ And then they pause, and they go “oh shit you’re right. I didn’t really think about it that way.” In America everybody gets to be white unless you are overtly brown and darker, but that doesn’t mean that that’s how racism works everywhere else around the world. And then when you throw colorism into the mix, now you’re looking at 4D racism. 🤦🏽 But thank you for speaking on that, because I don’t know how it doesn’t occur to everyone else that Jews are only considered white in the United States.

I hope the 6-7 Million Jews living in the US (I am one of them), (representing almost 45% of the world Jewish population, will wake up and realize they need not support Israel. I take it a step further. Israel does not need to exist in order for Jews to feel safe, and ultimately the only just and viable solution will be a one state solution. These analysis from western perspective have no real meaning on the ground. This is a region in our time where ISIS reign of terror happened and Taliban r back to power. Iraqi parliament recently voted to criminalize LGBTQ behavior in addition to similar laws in other country. Women gets prosecuted for not covering their head, there r countries that outright treat women like second class citizen by law if not like property. They have blasphemy laws and under these surrounding isreal exist, if the people of the region change and accept progressive values even to a little extent like for example decriminalization of homosexuality then it would be different. Nuclear armed Isreal is not going anywhere and its population only getting more right wing. So these analysis about a handful of progressive Jewish activist surrounded by a sea of leftist and Muslims doesn’t speak a lot. If you r progressive why don’t you try speak about the risk and discrimination faced by lgbtq community within Muslim community in the west. At lest Palestinian will hopefully have a national one day but LGBTQ people will never have any human rights and dignity in that region. And I think it’s ok to mix these tooo issues human right and dignity should be same for all Jews Arabs and LGBTQ. All aid and recognition to Palestine should on the condition of guarantee of secularism and LGBTQ rights.

Why do you think this anti-LGBTQ sentiment is growing? It’s reactionary. People become more conservative when under threat and are more likely to adopt ideals that marginalize the “other” in an attempt to exert control over uncertainty. This conflict is fueling such sentiments.

I think this conversation is about Jewish communities worldwide, not Israeli Jews. Israeli society, by and large, is too far gone. I doubt there will never be enough internal pressure to make a serious difference in policy regarding the ongoing occupation and genocide. Jews in the US, UK, and other countries are uniquely positioned to make a difference, though. And they are.

I'm familiar with her work, I promise you she does. And to some extent, she's right. The rich and powerful have invested heavily in promoting learned helplessness among the rest of the population. They want us to think there's nothing we can do about anything. We shouldn't listen.
