Joe Rogan insists that he is not spreading misinformation regarding Covid vaccines and that if anyone eight months ago would have mentioned breakthrough infection from Covid after being fully vaccinated, it would have been deemed misinformation. The Majority Report crew discuss how vaccine efficacy has changed since eight months ago, because Covid, a novel virus, has also changed.

I have been listening to Michael Osterholm's weekly podcasts, he has lamented how bad faith actors have taken his advice out of context. He also has said he has begged to come back on Joe Rogan's podcast to clear up misinformation being peddled. But to be honest it's not going to happen because ITS BORING! Real science is boring to a nonscience audience, it's even a bit boring to me who actually graduated with a public health degree. Guess what isn't BORING? Conspiracy theories and Quackery.

He described medical professionals as the mainstream media 😂 It all began when he didn’t like wearing a mask, then went onto how it was effecting comedy clubs and friends businesses to anti-vax stuff. I stopped watching his show entirely when he complained about masks as it stunk of selfish self interest. Before all this I grew suspicious when he started bringing on right-wing guests and barely questioning some of their beliefs but did entirely the opposite to his left leaning people. He’s had Ted Nugent on his show and barely challenged him ffs 😂

For me it was when he had Abigail Shrier and her transphobic “book” and that other transphobic writer (i think her last name was Song) was when I knew he was using his platform to spread his personal politics. It finally cemented when he kept having Jordan Peterson on and instead of challenging JP’s crazy ramblings he’d just go “woah..” after that i knew I wouldn’t listen to him anymore. Peterson even brags how he's monetized trolling the left. And Peterson is far more bonkers than Rogan. Rogan's problem isn't that he talks nonsense. We all do that trying to resolve issues. No one is an expert of everything but we still have to have clumsy debates on subjects outside our narrow areas of expertise. Rogan;s problem takes a shooting-the-shit debate attitude to an audience of millions. There is a big difference having those conversations at a restaurant with some pals and millions of people confusing our exploratory opinions as factually accurate.

These same people coming out of the wood work in many cases owe their entire “careers” as public figures to Rogan and his podcast, so I doubt they even care about free speech or are worried about censorship, they’re just looking out for their meal ticket and don’t want to risk alienating Rogan and loosing access to the platform. I liked Rogan's show when he'd mainly just smoke pot and talk to Eddie Bravo or Bas Rutten about martial arts, but his show has changed and taken a conservative turn that I can't stomach. Those who say that Rogan is politically neutral or independent or that he gives persons on both ends of the political spectrum an equal platform are full of shit. Look at the sorts of a guests Rogan has on: former special ops guys, "carnivores," anti-vaxxers, hunters, Jordan Peterson, comedians who are openly conservative, prize fighters, conspiracy theorists, etc. Joe Rogan's bread-and-butter guests are conservative, and having somebody like Bernie Sanders on once in a blue moon doesn't counterbalance them. The worst and most insidious part is that people (probably including Rogan himself) misrepresent Rogan as "independent" or "non-partisan," instead of calling him what he really is, which is a "conservative." This outcry against Spotify and Joe Rogan is not censorship, it's actually democracy. The people are voicing their discontent against them in the same way we rally a mob of protest against corrupt politicians to get them out. The relationship between Spotify and its customers is purely transactional, and if people want to voice complaints and advocate for changes, that is their right of freedom of speech!

I'm currently making a documentary on the wars with a fellow Veteran. We loved listening to Rogan in 2012 talking about the "war pigs" and his podcasts would motivate us to get the word out on truth about these wars. NOW, in 2022, Joe is more concerned with having on every Navy SEAL that has ever served. He used to be the anti-tough guy tough guy - now...well, we've all seen it. And, the worst part about this, is his spread of misinformation for years about SSRIs and how they negatively affect people. He actually correlated SSRIs to school shooters for YEARS. When I think about the number of Veterans (to include myself) who avoided these life saving mental health treatments because of Joe fucking Rogan, it makes me sick. Literally sick. The only reason I started to question what he was saying was because I actually worked for Mass General Hospital in a psych office (#1 in the country) where I had access to top Doctors who would repeatedly tell me how off-base Rogan is on this. I believed him for a while OVER the docs. Imagine that. Here I am 10 years later just embarrassed I put my trust in him. Pretending as if this is "just a discussion or comedy podcast" and that "no one really takes medical advice from Rogan" is so fucking stupid. Thank god I'm over it....

See Louis, I was with you at first, I totally agree with first part of comment, and people who never watched tons JRE in the past don't realize how different things and Joe were back then. I thought you were gonna say, we are able to recognize he made some unfortunate decisions and believes things that I am against so I quit watching or tuning into his podcast. His podcasts are, about things that he finds interesting and aren't very mainstream. Here's the thing though, if you look back to what 2015-16 when he started the podcast, he had a lot of really smart people on and knows a lot of really smart people, and he was often changing firmly held beliefs when he'd have several experts lay it out for him, like the moon landing, and a few other things. Then wen trump was running and all through his election and years in office, Joe was all over the place. He'd have a couple guest on that are heavy hitters leaning right, and the next whole week he'd be shit talking aoub the dumb Dems, then he'd have a series of people either left leaning or liberals by default, and then he'd rip republicans for a while. That's all fine and good, when it's just banter about elections and DMT trips, Joe's not dumb,. rather he's antivax or not, he's always been diligent about his health and he saw how many people that were dying, he could have vetted those guest much better, and sought out better info and been more confident, his limited medical knowledge. When you speak to that large of an audience, during a pandemic killing millions across the planet, he owes it to his fans and audience to be more accurate.
